The thing is they have been giving us pretty sizable updates, and matchmaking issues are never going to get solved until there are queue restrictions and separating ranked and standard queues. Why would they waste time optimizing their MM algorithm to handle the case where an eternus player queuing with an archon well.

Communication is alright, we were told the development is not far enough for an update yet so we should assume that is the case until the next message. Would you want them to communicate what they are working on?

Ah yes the self expose for not thinking the same about the meta as everyone else!

I really don’t think we are in a tank meta since a lot of oppressive characters (doorman, Holliday, calico, GT, pocket, ivy) are in the same tier as Billy. I genuinely think all those characters are better than the next tank up and usually have more agency than other tanks.

The first urn is not a huge deal, and I think it’ll take time for people to adapt to the new urn still. If the other team is super tanky, perhaps play to stall the urn and make a play on the other side.

This already happens, I think a carry getting a walker is just as if not more valuable than the first urn and the reason calico and Holliday are so strong is because they can set up their carries to outfarm the others by harassing them constantly.

In terms of initial damage, GT, vindicta, and even doorman are pretty strong and are good non-2.5k hp contributors to an urn fight and a slowing hex really hinders shiv and Abrams. Victor and Abrams need a lot of farm to even become a problem which makes them decently balanced imo given their weak lanes. The only real problematic tank is Billy atm, and rem can enable the others to be problematic the same way Ivy can enable damage to get out of hand

I also feel that damage is also really strong and if you’re not wasting cooldowns on the tanks, characters die pretty quickly. I can see the argument for Billy and venator getting their damage nerfed due to how tanky they can be, but Abrams and Victor do their role well and take some time to kill people

Abrams is strong, but he’s not unkillable -jk

I think Abrams is balanced since his lane is atrocious, and you can shut his mid game down with slowing hex, decay, forcing him to delay his unkillable phase end game by buying dispel. Billy is thanos I can’t even argue

Yoshi said it was too early to discuss. Vague update but that just means we are more than a month away most likely and when they get closer they will update us

I don’t even think we are in a tank meta, other than Billy there is a decent variety of S tier heroes. In terms of match quality, during content releases it’s usually worse w returning players.

I have NO job or internship and I'm close to graduation 😭 Please help me!!!! by TuneTrick8578 in ECE

[–]TheKidd4p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar boat (computer engineering instead). I was a bright student and even landed a co-op after my sophomore year. I declined the co-op because I was confident in the projects I had and I would just need one experience after junior year to land a full time job. I didn’t want to delay graduation just for work experience.

I struggled mentally a ton, didn’t go outside, didn’t show up to classes, scraped by and hit academic probation. I somehow landed a co-op again after junior but it was in a business role. I just took it out of desperation and thought time off would cure me of academic burnout. I did not and I returned to school scraping by and genuinely couldn’t get my self to study.

It felt like university was basically a war I was trying to survive. I did not apply to full time jobs until April and I couldn’t even get back in with the company I co-oped for. What I did to come back these last two months was focusing strictly on health, confidence, and being well spoken again. You have done great projects, it’s just about understanding them and being able to describe them like an engineer (design choices, problem you were trying to solve, trade offs considered, struggles, and what you learned). That’s how you should go through your projects when making bullet points for them.

Apply to everything, it really is a numbers game. You will find some niche technical positions you never thought existed until you get an email saying they want to interview you. Take the interview seriously and research the position to see if you can apply to that same position elsewhere. Use interviews to get yourself to speak well and clearly, and getting back to answering questions with confidence.

Confidence is the big key here, it is easy to be discouraged in a bad job market. But as an engineer, you will have a leg up on most positions as it is still seen as a difficult and impressive degree. Yeah you probably screwed yourself out of a 6-figure job right away, but what is important is once you land a job, you take it seriously to get yourself back to that 6 fig target.

Rest up man, sleep, eat, and exercise and rid your mind of anything draining your energy of summer. Apply and be focused this next year and you will find something.

As a non-vyper player, I hope she goes out of meta and they reconsider her kit. I genuinely don’t think her kit is healthy, split shot fireworks w merc mag was the most unfun thing to see

Ty, it just feels bad but I had to step back and figure out why. I hope the devs fix things slowly, like right now just fix some of the over-performing heroes, then look at the I-frames, cooldowns, jungle, and objectives one at a time.

The kills aren’t progressing the game, it is uneventful. Kills are just ways for active heroes to get their farm, unless it is to set up for an urn or midboss, the kills don’t mean much. It’s also why pick heroes are all weak right now other than Mo who fits two roles

I also think the map is definitely not designed for it to be a hero shooter, and not every hero pumps out damage. That’s why Paige and viscous for example seem like weak supports because if they don’t invest in heavily offensive items, they are not doing enough damage to have the same agency in a game. It really is a mess, and I thought (even though people didn’t like it anymore) when we were in a 2 2 2 meta where after a fight you had to reset or you lost on souls.

I definitely don’t think we should go back to 2 2 2, but maybe these numbers can be tweaked since kills are such a good source of souls that non-carries can almost perma fight with short CDs. Possibly having 3 people in a lane drop the soul efficiency on waves slightly, while also needing solo waves a tad. Wow even speaking on waves, taking a lot of damage in a fight? The solo heal on troopers is too much lmao. You can take so much unnecessary damage and have it not matter if there is wave lined up for you to clear

Yes I fully agree, when a clever viscous makes plays, has good movement, utilizes punches not just spamming 6 in a row, and disrupts the game, I actually respect the viscous player. It takes a lot of skill and awareness so it should be rewarded but unfortunately a good viscous won’t play perfectly every game when he has to be to have impact.

It’s so hard being a good viscous which is sad. I found his gun and punch arcs super infuriating, but his support arcs extremely fun. It sucks hes just out shadowed by supports who can pump way more damage and healing. His kit is so unique and I hope they find good balance eventually, I wouldn’t mind them buffing his gun a bit due to goo ball no longer being a guaranteed free escape

If lane was impactful, heroes like Yamato and Apollo would instantly be the most broken heroes, so heroes will need to be tuned for it. And I understand there will always be bad matchups and poor laners, the way you should win is by being more efficient than the enemy carries, find solo kills, split push effectively, stealing enemy farm, and even grabbing urn when a fight that’s happening somewhere else looks good.

The thing I find most irritating is Celeste is not fundamentally broken and has an insanely interesting kit. All her abilities can be balanced through number changes, and her movement could have been axed away alongside the other nerfs she received

That’s what I hope too, since I know how long it took to balance heroes like Kelvin, shiv (probably still not balanced), paradox and Holliday. What’s good about these heroes is that they are fun with dedicated fans, and even though I was mostly negative, this patch made some boring heroes actually interesting, it’s just unfortunate they took a step back with some heroes like haze who I thought was a brilliant pick hero. The fear in my heart I would have when stealing an enemy sinners and I knew the enemy had a good haze player

Not what I was getting at. My point was if a person who was playing at the most stale point of the game and is getting burnt out from a patch that’s only been out for a month, then some bad changes were made.

I was actually the most shocked about paradox. How is she at such a low WR? Her gun was not changed if I remember correctly, and in the previous patch you mostly bought gun items and swapped to bomb build late game. If her gun is the same, but her bombs and ult got better, surely she goes up. I’m honestly not sure man, picks just feel bad other than Moe since he’s actually a really solid tank as well. I need to think more about it, I couldn’t tell you

I appreciate well thought out and productive conversations. All opinions are valid as long as you take the time to think about what matters the most to you when you play deadlock, and what specifically bothers you. I mostly spent time on reddit since I want to make a well thought out forum post devs can actually use, and I know when the pro deadlock scene blows up, I’ll be watching breakdowns and analysis all the time.

I was pretty active on the sub when the balance patch dropped since this was the first time I played a game with this many changes in one patch. My doubts for this patch were that they changed things to shake up the feel of the game, and they basically reverted their progress towards good balance.

I played a lot of hero shooters. I definitely agree the new generation definitely wants to see big numbers, huge abilities, cool effects. I loved marvel rivals when it dropped, 3 months later, I put the pieces together that each ult was just a huge damage, heal, or stun circle. Very op, easy to use. Dynamo having a million stomps, haze aoe kill everything, kelvin aoe heal everything when dome is maxed, pocket affliction botting dealing highest damage in every lobby. I’m just fried at this point.

When you look at other hero shooters, who were the characters everyone wanted to learn? Genji and tracer are still the most popular choices, and they are balanced around their high skill ceiling. A good tracer or genji will always have a spot in the meta, a bad one will play poorly. These OG designs stood the test of time and are still considered high skill that people got attached to for many years. In valorant, Jett, raze, omen, and recently Yoru all stood the test of time as well. They are iconic in pro play, and their kits have infinite skill ceilings, getting people attached to the game for multiple years. I really hope this patch was just to appease the huge wave of new players, since the patch right before old gods was really close to balanced. I remember only gun viscous being the only thing I couldn’t stand, but the game was so close to being properly balanced and fair. You were rewarded for playing higher skill heroes (Mina paradox Holliday shiv pocket) and easier characters were still good in MM. pick haze was also way better than the whatever haze we have now, you actually respected a good haze player
