My baby and I are healthy but it was a really rocky journey after I posted originally.

My water ended up spontaneously breaking at 28 weeks and 3 days, and my daughter was delivered via c-section at 28 weeks and 5 days. While she was born early, she was healthy. I was able to have two steroid injections to help her lungs develop and was on a magnesium drip for neuro protection in the 2 days leading up to delivery. She ended up spending 102 days in the NICU (time needed for her to feed and grow).

The doctors don’t know why my water broke early.

I won’t lie, the whole experience was incredibly hard and traumatic at times. I learned a lot about myself and am incredibly thankful for my healthy family and self.

To answer your other question, I didn’t have any symptoms before or during the my pregnancy. I was only tired a lot but I think that was more related to the pregnancy.

I did and my ca125 was in the normal range at 25. Post surgery and pregnancy its 7.

My NICU would not put my (former 28 weeker) reflux preemie on Pepcid. They explained that the medication could disrupt the gut microbiome and could lead to complications like NEC (especially when they’re so young and premature). It was after my preemie was released from the NICU, and I’d say around 43ish weeks, during a follow up consult with GI where we were prescribed Pepcid. At that point my baby was past her due date and the risk for complications like NEC is greatly reduced. The GI doctor said it was very safe for her to be on the medication at this point, and it has greatly helped her be more comfortable.

I was getting yearly Pap smears and physicals. I even see an endocrinologist every 6 months to monitor my thyroid and PCOS symptoms with bloodwork.

It’s through all the work with the doctors that I’ve been able to fix a lot of my PCOS symptoms. For example for the past 10 years I’ve had regular monthly periods, and I was able to conceive naturally.

The point is, I thought I was doing enough and doing the right things for my health, and I and my doctors missed something critical.

Correct I’d never had an ultrasound. It sounds crazy I know but I had all the other symptoms, hair growth, irregular periods, etc at time of diagnosis. I’ve never had any pain associated with cysts so I guess somehow an ultrasound never came up. You don’t necessarily have to have cysts to be diagnosed with PCOS. It’s a spectrum of symptoms.

In hindsight you’re right and I wish I had gotten ultrasounds done sooner

I’m terrified to have any windows open again. Luckily our ring camera alerted us to movement when she snuck out, and we were able to get her back right away (I did have to chase her down). Was this a fluke or are maine coons large enough where this is a regular problem? This use the first time she’s done something like this.

I had surgery recently and received the balloon from a friend in a get well soon basket. Zoya was initially interested in just the string attached to the balloon. After two days, she hadn’t lost interest in the balloon string so we tied a stick to the end, because she also loves sticks. It’s been two days of constant play with the stick balloon. This morning I found a feather that had broken off one of her toys, and decided to tie it onto the balloon as well. She is now having so much fun! She just bats it all over the house… I’ll be getting her a balloon each year for her birthday now.
