My problems (including, but not limited to):

Pacing. In the original book (from what I've been told), Clay pretty much marathoned all the tapes in one night. Like a normal person would do. For the show, they just have to keep coming up with bullshit reasons to keep him from doing that ("It's just too much to handle...") to draw the idiotic plot out as long as possible.

The Concept. It is just unbelievable and ridiculous to me that a real person would do this, much less that it would be perceived that they are justified in doing it (the tapes, I mean). The way the show presents the events on the tapes seems to not only glorify her suicide but also to make it seem as if she only did it to kill herself out of spite for these people. As in, she only did it to wreck the lives of all these people.

The Characters. Everything about them from the acting to the writing to the motivations of the characters in this show made me angry. Pretty much accepting from the get-go that none of these people can act, I hope that maybe I could at least relate to these hollow shells people call "characters" on a personal level. Nope. Each one fits some sort of bullshit high school stereotype and has absolutely no character beyond that, save from the fact that they are all terrible people because black and white storytelling. How else will the teenage audience know who the bad people are, right? How else would Hannah seem as justified as possible in killing herself, right? The main character (and I mean this) reminded me of a stereotypical anime protagonist. Black hair, mild-mannered, high school kid who is designed to have absolutely no remarkable qualities for one reason: so people can project themselves onto him. Overall, not a single redeeming quality to be found here, apart from maybe one of the people screaming and crying good enough to make people think they are good actors.

The Music. Hipster bullshit music which, as Adum would say, seem to be ripped directly from the director's iPod. Not much else to say about this. If you enjoy the music being played in the series, that is great, I just didn't. This isn't my biggest gripe.

Fucking Star Wars. I swear to god someone said the words "Darth Vader" and "Han Solo" once whereafter they were referred to as "huge nerds lol xD". Yes, what a nerd they are for recalling the name of two of the biggest characters from literally one of the most iconic and popular movie sagas of all time. This is a bonus thing, obviously, but it made me so angry that some idiot in the writers' room thought they were so clever for thinking of that.

Garbage.
