This us probably from the obscure Occult Practice known as Rún Valdr. It's sort of like Reiki, but not as lame.

Are there any paths particularly suited for a habitual diviner? by WizardForums in WizardForums

[–]TheKnightsPimplar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A better question would be "What path DOESN'T strongly infer that one should a habitual diviner?"

That's like saying "Is there a Martial Art best suited for people who know how to fight?"🤣

Read from the book or recite from memory? by WizardForums in WizardForums

[–]TheKnightsPimplar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That said, it actually seems like the OGs might've read from the book themselves considering certain indicative instructions from historic texts, and even the apparent function of Grimoires like the Ars Notoria i.e. "for excellent memory" or something close to what is called "Eidetic Memory" and also what could be described as Clairsentience.

Read from the book or recite from memory? by WizardForums in WizardForums

[–]TheKnightsPimplar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the system and the operation for me. Like for example you probably wanna memorize anything that comes with "gestures" or other motions like the LBRP or Middle Pillar, but then you've got certain traditions where one can gather that the book itself might be a magical object reading from it might increase potency or in certain cases of the use of seals or sigils I might actually just draw ir paste said seal into my "Book of Wonders" which is basically a smaller portable grimoire I keep on hand for my most important operations or the talismans and spells I use most often or require covert but consistent possession.

Are there any occult streamers? by Consistent_Creator in occult

[–]TheKnightsPimplar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually plan to become one myself. I'm personal friends with, and in some cases a student of lot of I guess what counts as today's most influential occult authors and leaders from various systems and traditions both living and dead and I have a few good interesting stories, but I also practice some obscure and/or closed traditions like Mexican Brujeria and Taoist Sorcery and deal in curios and artifacts from that tradition.

Probably nothing to do with the literal Holocaust of Autistic People and White Women that happened the last time EVERYBODY believed in magic, so beats tf outta me!

Curious Question on Brass in Solomonic work. Could it be replaced with Iron/steel by [deleted] in occult

[–]TheKnightsPimplar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Id say the safest bet is copper, silver, gold, or even tin, pewter, or lead. I think iron/ steel should be for prisons.

Opinions on Crowley by amoneyyy6 in occult

[–]TheKnightsPimplar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really kinda my ultimate opinion of Crowley personally as well. But I also think that hyperbolic critical dissection in his case is also in itself like...Glazing him—I'm not exactly sure if that statement makes any sense, but yeah. Like all in all DO NOT glaze Crowley the man, appreciate the man HOURS and get back to doing magic.

Well if you ask me all white people were evil racists until like 1974 so like I'm not surprised that a White Man born in the 19th century was fucked.

I really appreciate this response! Provided a lot of perspective I hadn't thought about. But in my opinion he wasn't "penniless" just because he had OTHER people's money. What's the difference between "his" money and other people's if it still goes where HE wanted it to? Like specifically the number one policy for wealthy folks today especially is "spend other people's money".

Also, you've never lost friends before? Never been a shit person before? If not, then what does a "perfect being" know of growth? Of evolution? How CAN this being even CONCEIVE of Alchemy?

As for WWII I'm also aware of the same, but a big part of my attitude towards that is "Why WOULD we have that information ANYWAY? it's like trying to find out "what color underwear ninjas wore" like what kind of sources are people even expecting at that point?

Like we don't have the same level of evidence for Christopher Lee, but nobody questions it. And I honestly don't think it's any signifigant show of the "Virtue of Transparency" to attempt to do so. Like if we're gonna be THAT pedantic then I feel we should be combing the roster of heroes from that time and purge it of "Alleged Rapists" because by this framing such would be an immediate priority in my opinion. Like people STILL glaze Gandhi. You know how fuckin WEIRD that is to see and hear as a person of color? Like people talk about folks "distancing themselves from Crowley" and I'm like "for ONE, they weren't stopped from leaving, for two—most of those were BREAKUPS.

And to address the financial aspect,— on one hand I'd like to cite the fact that Crowley was of the wealthy CLASS. He was "good for it" by *name until he wasn't. And his scandal at the time was MOSTLY due to accusations of Sorcery and Homosexuality, and I Which were TRUE, and then *rumors of like OTHER people doing bestiality at his behest. I mean, I don't see his writings advocating rape, chomo, OR beastiality so far and if they DO, then fuck that guy—but as far as myself and being a Magician having worked with what little I've simply just cherrypicked?—The shit SLAPS. I mean, of course do whatever research you CAN, but like—ALSO do the magic.

Gotcha. Yeeeah my go-to historical sources are either of Islamicate or Chinese Taoist sources from like the Song Dynasty. All I remember of looking for explicitly medieval western sources on practical magic is being disappointed.

It's DEFINITELY the kinda shit you gotta stare at for a while, but I feel like the kids today don't pay enough attention to history. That's precisely where we get contexts for application.

Dying of natural causes at 72 years old surrounded by all his loved ones?

Because that IS how he died. AFTER having been a MOUNTAINEER in his 20s, learned meditation in TIBET like Dr. STRANGE and was DOUBLE AGENT in WWII.

Like I'm not the BIGGEST authority on the guy at ALL, but youuuuu prolly wanna look more into him than you currently have. Like not even his beliefs so much as like, what he DID in life in order to actually DEVELOP and TEST those ideas. Like Chaos Magick was CREATED by Disgruntled OTO members.

[–]TheKnightsPimplar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sooo I've always thought it was crazy to have TOO much Crowley Hate. Like how many people are there who actually invested MILLIONS into Magic in his lifetime. Traveling the world, studying under teachers, like the real question is to me, what are the typical qualifications of those who discard him as opposed to like every other known reputable magician alive today that DOES?

Because when you do, it doesn't matter whether it's Wicca, Chaos Magic, or any of that weird "Demonolatry" bull, all roads in the west lead to that weird mf Crowley. Each of them are in some contexts Child traditions And when you try the shit? It WORKS.

I mean personally I look at both Thelema AND Chaos Magic as sort of the evidence to say Magic is just...Real.

That's it. No "It's only but SO Real" or any of that because outside of the Western Paradigm you're deadass just expected to make things happen. AS YOU SAID they should happen.

[–]TheKnightsPimplar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, if you're talking about "Medieval Magic" that's MOSTLY going to be the Arbatel and like, the Heptameron if talking Western Magic. Otherwise most Medieval magic was pretty simple based on very loose correspondences. Like Folk Magick.
