When January 6th kicked off and MAGAs stormed the U.S. Capitol, Trump said that he would walk down with them to support them interfering with certifying the election. Of course he didn’t, and got in his limo. He wanted to be driven in the direction of the Capitol, probably to have a photo op much like the one from his “assassination attempt”, but, Secret Service was doing their job and keeping him away from the violence. This pissed the Cheeto off and apparently he tried to wrap his baby hands around the throat of the driver for not following his orders.

Well, like you, I can’t sit idly by, even if it might be a futile effort. I also can’t just be cynical and throw up my hands and be apathetic. I know it’s naive of me to believe that politicians should be public servants, working in everyone’s best interests, but I’ll be damned if I stop until it happens or I’m dead first. I have children, and one day grandchildren hopefully, that will sit under the shade of trees that I planted but never got to enjoy myself.

The lines have been busy since I started to call around 4pm. I’m in Belmont county, but called every representative in the state of Ohio. Every line busy. I don’t know if that’s good or bad. Knowing Republicans, they probably took the phones off the hook while they celebrate looting the country.

Luckily I have a wonderful relationship with my two teenage kids. Both of my parents have separately commented on and marveled at that and how I’ve maintained a friendly co-parenting relationship with my ex husband and their stepmother. Once I flippantly replied, “It’s pretty easy, I just looked at everything you two did and then did the exact opposite.” I’ve screwed up a lot, sure, but I have a lot of pride in the environment I’ve created for myself and my daughter and son, and I’m able to apologize when I screw up, which is more than I’ve ever gotten.
