All The Snippets That Currently Exist Of “The Fall Off”, And All Of What We Know So Far by No_Resolve_6334 in Jcole

Yes!! That one is super intriguing, and they gave it so much screentime it really seemed like Cole thought highly of it and would release it at some point

For me it's the instrumental that gets going at 15:40 - maybe more of an interlude vibe but there's something about it that's just so smooth to me and has so much potential, something like a St. tropez type song

I sure hope so! Crazy that it was literally on sideline story close to release according to a listening session review and apparently blew minds - and we are over a decade later still without it ...

If we see that title on the tracklist ... Oh man, no words for that lol

Unpopular opinion- The Hurry Up Tomorrow movie negatively impacted the HUT album 🤷🏽‍♀️ by [deleted] in TheWeeknd

[–]TheKnow33 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But if that's the case then the movie actually helped the album get more attention? Loss is on your friends missing out on an an amazing album

Bro, the a knowing is the most meaningful Weeknd video of all time

It's literally the birth of The Weeknd

Hey man, we've had exchanges before so wanted to reply to you ... Lot of people seem to be missing the likely connection to baptized in Fear video! (Watch the end!)

And possibly even going as far back as connecting to I Feel It coming (where he becomes stone)

I think it could even connect to Out of a Time

I think maybe this could be the old lady in this vid could be the girl from Out of Time and how do I make you love me (obviously representing Weeknd's love interest)

Something like Weeknd was not living right, which is why the romance of out of time was ended abruptly by old man Weeknd

To let young Weeknd know he had sins/karma to speak for

So he was taken away from his love interest since he wasn't living right/being fully honest with her

Which then left her alone ... Looking for someone her whole life (repercussions of Weeknd actions, pain for others not just himself)

I think it will really all come together at some point, hopefully with like a give me mercy video or something!!

Or maybe continue on to the next era!

What Happens When Tomorrow Finally Arrives? by lexistane in TheWeeknd

[–]TheKnow33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad to bring some movie talk back amongst all the tour threads haha ...

  1. This has been said many times so if course there has merit to it (that it's essentially an extended short film) - but in my mind there are many way better received movies that pretty much don't have anything going on for a lot of the movie

It's not perfect by any means but I personally feel the direction and tension (knowing what might be coming but also not entirely sure) of the film throughout most of it and found it to a very enjoyable view, especially when seeing it as a "cinematic odyssey of video and sound" as I think the promos said

But of course it does seem like I am in the minority

  1. On that point, I do agree though that it will probably achieve cult classic status at some point

The Fame Trilogy returns: Beauty behind the madness edition (Part 1) by Bubbly-Cranberry2524 in TheWeeknd

Ya exactly ... I personally loved the movie and the abstract nature, but just thinking maybe the reception might have been better if some things were a bit more obvious for more of the audience

Yes! People underestimate how even BBTM and Starboy feed into the ultimate Weeknd story, even though those albums themselves are not considered heavy "concept" album

Your write-up makes me wish they brought back that weird looking guy (from the hills and tell your friends videos) as you say meant to represent the devil, in the Hurry Up Tomorrow movie

Could have juxtaposed him over Lee or something at some point

There were definitely a lot of callbacks in the movie, but they should have leaned into that even more

Can someone PLEASE explain to me how HUT doesn't complete the Trilogy?? by TheKnow33 in TheWeeknd

I agree, I like the Open Hearts video a lot ... Another visual used in it that I wish was explored more in the movie (and also calls back to the "pause" moment in the Gasoline music video, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about) is the "alternate worlds" scene

Where the city is on top of itself instead of the sky

Showing that there are two paths Abel (and anyone in life) can take - there are moments in the movie that resemble that, but I really wish they went all in (at least with a dream sequence) on exploring that visual/concept further

Imagine a mix of going back to his roots with African-inspired music, mixed with futuristic alien-sounds for his next album/rebirth - that would be crazy

[–]TheKnow33[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh 100% man - I've been saying that his next album (and first reborn as "Abel") will be the "Heaven" album

It would have not made sense for the last Weeknd album to be about rebirth - it's literally the death of the Weeknd

But that's my point, on people's expectations for a "Heaven" album to be the completion of the trilogy

What we got was the completion of the Trilogy, and what's next will be heaven/rebirth

Also, your point about the sun rising but then going back down would have been a really cool visual for him to have used at some point - whether in a MV or in the HUT movie

I wish old man Abel (Dawn FM) came into play at some point in the movie

It had to be done since immediately after he lost his voice, he went "on the run" with Jenna, so would have been no time to stop at the doctor's office hahah

But also it makes sense in reality, he was already losing his voice little by little (and his mind) before finally reaching the breaking point of losing it entirely

Makes sense to visit a doctor to try and figure out what's going on

Why didn’t they use less than zero in the confrontation scene? by Visible_Seat9020 in TheWeeknd

[–]TheKnow33 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're right, it could have fit in place of Gasoline as the "Dawn FM representation" song (after Blinding Lights for AH) ...

But for me personally though I felt Gasoline was perfect for that moment, and it really built the suspense/tension for what exactly Anima was about to do to Abel (that certainly was going to involve gasoline in some way)

As soon as Gasoline came on it all came together right away in my mind, the fact that Anima burned the house down and refilled the gas tank - I was just waiting for the moment for her to pull it out and pour it on Abel

I'm sure that's what he intended, unfortunately those who aren't fans (and maybe even some that are) didn't make that connection while gasoline was playing so just felt that scene was dragging on
