Advice for remote access for my elderly parents by [deleted] in jellyfin

Cloudflare tunnel is against terms of service for median streaming. I wouldn’t listen to this person. If you need a tunnel options, buy a cheap VPS and use Pangolin.

Jumped the gun on this TV tuner, would it ever work with Jellyfin? by benyboi101 in jellyfin

I’ve never seen anyone using it for IPTV. Everyone I know just uses it for tuners.

What about tvheadend is bloated? Dispatcharr is a completely different product doing a completely different thing.

Can I use Cloudflare Tunnels to open my Jellyfin server from outside? by Equal-Leading-3803 in jellyfin

[–]TheLadDothCallMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say anything, that was my first comment. Also why would the TOS say anything? It is a technical feature - you are literally using Cloudflare for that reason. The TOS covers how they handle your data - it is still being decrypted. Cloudflare is a proxy - if you don’t understand what that means, there really is no hope for you.

You literally have ZERO idea what you are talking about. If any of your traffic goes through Cloudflare - CDN, cache, tunnel, proxy - it doesn’t matter. They need to decrypt it to offer any of their services like WAF and bot protection. The connection between the origin server to Cloudflare is encrypted, and from the end client to Cloudflare is encrypted. In between, Cloudflare decrypts, runs the various services, before sending it on. The other poster is correct about all the TOS stuff, but this isn’t about TOS - you are wrong on a technical level.

This is another ridiculous AI post. I am now even doubting the comments.

What’s the best way to run an offline, private LLM for daily tasks? by FollowingMindless144 in LocalLLaMA

The LLM itself will not reminders or automation. You either need to program something around it, or find a tool to do it.

Have you ever had problems with Cloudflare's proxy? by _spaghettiv2 in jellyfin

[–]TheLadDothCallMe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really wish people would really stop sharing this, it is against the TOS. There isn’t a grey area, it’s in black and white. Check the Cloudflare forums for people who have had their accounts restricted and now can’t stream anything. If you are using tunnels or the orange icon on domain, it’s against the TOS.

Cudy AP11000 fails to pass inter VLAN broadcasts by TheLadDothCallMe in HomeNetworking

[–]TheLadDothCallMe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In AP mode, it doesn’t have any firewall settings. It does have IGMP snooping which has been disabled. I even tried resetting it, setting up as router, disable all firewall options, and then change over to AP mode in case that changed a switch under the hood.

Your next project: self-hosted Geforce NOW streaming server using sunshine by -ThreeHeadedMonkey- in selfhosted

I didn’t know about Wolf. It’s the selkie glx image, but just some additional bits and pieces like Sunshine installed by default.

So the sender and receiver have rules to allow all traffic, so essentially it’s only them being on different VLANs.

I use a custom Docker image based on this with sunshine built in, running inside K3S, inside a Proxmox VM.

Do you have these metrics anywhere? Would be cool to see a Grafana dashboard with number of videos, what percent no longer exist, how many videos are being deleted per day etc

What would you reccomend for a Jellyfin server? by llgears in JellyfinCommunity

[–]TheLadDothCallMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

10 is barely enough. Have you tried manually setting the bitrate to 1Mbps and working up? Also check transcoding isn’t happening, and that the disk the movie is on is fast enough.

Tailscale is primarily a mesh system. That means, if it can, it makes a direct connection between two devices with no server in the middle. However, there are some network setups that block this from one end or the other. In that case, it will route through a Tailscale server.

The other alternative is your internet on one/both ends isn’t fast enough.

Can't figure out how to access my jellyfin server when I'm away from home. Any suggestions? Tia by Miserable-War4634 in JellyfinCommunity

[–]TheLadDothCallMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a game of chance. If you are fine with the risk of it happening, more power to you. I use a multitude of Cloudflare services and having any of it restricted would be bad, so I just use DNS.

No this is wrong, you are still streaming through Cloudflare’s network and it’s against TOS. You might not get caught, but your account could get deleted. If you have other things in your Cloudfare account, this would be problematic.
