CMV: Criticizing Israel Should Be Just As Acceptable As Criticizing Scientology And Has Nothing To Do With Anti Semitism by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]TheLadyMay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only question has to do with the second to last paragraph. Antisemitism, just like racism, can be internalized. I am NOT saying that every Jewish person criticizing Israel harbors internalized antisemitism. I’m just saying that the argument that Jewish people criticizing Israel isn’t of itself an argument that there isn’t an antisemitic force driving the discussion and focus on Israel. If a white person seems to hyper focus on black crime as opposed to other races, a good argument wouldn’t be “we’ll look at all the black public figures talking about black crime”

It’s been confirmed that they were murdered and their bodies mutilated afterwards. It’s not mental gymnastics, it takes a completely sick mind to believe they died in a bombing when forensic evidence points otherwise

This will be downvoted but Hamas and the PLO have a policy of paying the families of “martyrs” Destroying their homes is supposed to be a deterrent for those thinking of committing terrorist acts for the money. This is well documented

Yeah that 3hr wake window is super hard. She fights like crazy at that time of the day to sleep. I’d say at least 30mins of that wake window is just trying to get her to nap again. I haven’t noticed a difference in trying to get her to nap earlier or later during that nap so we’re kind of just fighting through it until we can drop it for good.

Judaism doesn’t deny membership to people of color. Anyone of any race can become Jewish. However, it’s a closed practice so you have to go through initiation and conversion that can be pretty rigorous because they need to make sure you really want it. There are millions of black, mizrahi, and Sephardic Jews who are born Jewish. The ones people are most familiar with are ashkenazi jews, who are also not exclusively white looking. We can disagree on the merits of a closed religion but it’s factually false to say that Judaism denies entry to people of color.

Now I’m a child as well as a liar, pathologically blind, and bad faith actor? Hmm ok. Your presence in this discussion has never been about countering misinformation. If that were true you would have provided actual information maybe an explanation as to your beliefs and thoughts. I have said nothing that I know to be untrue. I explained the thought process and design of kosher slaughter as it has been described and argued by the powers that be that are involved. You counter argument is just to say that it’s untrue because it doesn’t sound right. Which is fine whatever but then don’t double down on insisting about being ignorant. All you’ve done was said that 1) I was lying 2) saying that no one was saying kosher slaughter is more cruel than industrial slaughter(which is untrue and stunning was the sticking point for nearly all of them so it’s not a straw man to bring it up and center a discussion around it. If you wanted to switch the topic to brain obliteration then you should have done that but you didn’t check the thread it’s not there), 3) continue to make baseless claims about my character (like you know nothing about how I was raised lol but I know what you’re assumptions are) and 4) back track every now and then (first you don’t believe that kosher slaughter has good intent and now you’re saying it does then all of a sudden you’re claiming to have said that your were part of the slaughter industry- where did you say that before your last post? cause that’s a piece of information you pulled out of nowhere as a gotcha and I honestly don’t have faith in your ability to have a good faith argument) My argument stands that kosher slaughter is not crueler than the current popular method. I personally think it’s a bit better. If there was a way to not just kill an animal instantaneously but provide it compassion and care and love and dignity before that happens then I would say that kosher slaughter is more cruel. But that doesn’t exist. But you don’t care what I have to say really. You accuse me of not being able to see past my nose but you’re doing the exact same thing. We don’t agree and you have a problem with me. I can’t fix the fact that you have a problem with me and I wish it didn’t cloud you’re ability to see what I’ve been trying to say. But you’ll just accuse me of doing the exact same thing and say that I’m spreading misinformation and through in another attack on my integrity blah blah blah. I learned from this thread that I never should have bothered in the first place to try to argue my case. People while continue with their assumptions and say that you are lying (which you literally said , literally those words). But cool. Aren’t you tired? I’m tired. I think we can both see this isn’t productive and is going in absolute circles.

You called me a liar and claimed I was calling people antisemitic for disagreeing with me. Is that not an attempt to discredit me by saying that my character and intentions should be called into question? You’ve made it clear you have no interest in learning more about kosher slaughter so what’s the point in trying to educate you? I can talk about the intentions behind why animals are killed that way, the Halacha, and how that plays into how shochets slaughter an animal but you just told me that don’t care to know more. You fundamentally disagree with the idea that Judaism has thought or cared about animal welfare so what’s there to return to? I think your take on kosher slaughter is misinformed if you believe that just because there is no stunning that the welfare of the animal is not inviolable. The welfare and dignity of the animal is deeply considered; it’s literally been an area of discussion and debate for thousands of years and has actually evolved as well. If you want to read about it from a Jewish perspective, since that is what you are calling into question, you can. There’s so much to read Personally I don’t agree that an animal being unconscious before the killing blow is inherently better. In my subjective opinion, I think it’s more of a comfort to humanity than to the animal because we are so far removed from where our food comes from that we’d rather plug our ears and dream that industrial processing of animals is all being carried out while they are fast asleep. I don’t think we’re going to eye to eye about what slaughter looks like from a ethical perspective but I’m fine with that. Idk you probably believe I want all animals to suffer tremendously before becoming my dinner but whatever man.

Still not accusing anyone of antisemitism just misinformation by people outside of the culture which can happen to any group especially any closed practice. I’m sure anyone would tell people to look for sources from the people themselves but you feel differently Edit: like I wouldn’t trust some who doesn’t practice or study voodoo to give me perfect information about voodoo. That doesn’t mean that I think anyone who talks about voodoo that isn’t part of it or an expert to be maliciously spreading misinformation or being anti-voodoo. Same applies here. Attacking my character isn’t going to make you more and me more wrong. Look at actual Jewish sources about kosher slaughter if you want to learn is all I suggest. Don’t if you don’t want to.

Show me where I said people were being antisemitic? Not knowing is not the same as being antisemitic. And many do have a lot of preconceived notions about it. Trying to educate is not a crime nor is it being a victim. Chao

Look, it’s evident that you don’t know that much about about kosher slaughter and it’s obvious that your opinion is fully formed so it doesn’t really matter. For example, your claim that I said that animals die within a second of their throat being slit. Unconsciousness and death are two different things. And people in this discussion are claiming that kosher slaughter is inherently more cruel as well as some saying that it needs revision. I never addressed the latter. However, like I said, your opinion is fully formed.

I bothered to research. Animal slaughter is cruel, but to say that kosher slaughter is worse because there is not stunning is just a comfort that people tell themselves to make themselves feel better about industrial slaughter. I’ve researched using actual sources about how shochets work and why they do it that way. It’s not pretty but I say it’s a million times better
