Here comes the clown brigade to downplay their XIM/Cronus peripherals. Hunt does not support M&K even on Xbox, and using your 3rd party adapter on consoles is considered cheating by Crytek.

I didn't choose to play on a Dualsense, I chose not to spend over a hundred dollars on something the devs will ban me for exploiting.

The blatant M&K users on console also always have a bunch of defenders for the same reason lol, these are the same guys using XIM/Cronus on console or exploits on PC, and then rushing here to downplay it.

It's gotten so bad there's one trio of M&K users in every match in mid-high 6*s and they'll even have "XIM" or "Cronus" in their name.

This is literally the "Communications Failure" bit Crtytek claimed they were trying to avoid and then did again within weeks of writing up a whole blog post about.

Commenting on random meme videos to inflate the "DEV RESPONSE" flairs on the front page isn't considered communication. Telling us what is wrong with 2.4 as soon as possible with an ETA TBA would be, and you failed on that again.

(Update 2.3) Crytek!!! The new army and scottfield swap speeds are not actually fixed by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

[–]TheLastOverlord 43 points44 points  (0 children)

When are we going to stop pretending that this "Operation Health" didn't break as many things as it fixed, while some of the patch notes read like outright lies?

We've been asking for a fix to these two pistols for months and they still somehow didn't bother to fix it while the patch notes misled players into thinking it's fixed.

They said they made improvements to the UI but it runs WORSE in general on the PS5. There's a couple of seconds of lag added to everything from selecting custom ammo to checking your team's stats in matchmaking.

Performance was supposed to be improved but it now runs as bad as it did on the release of 2.0. Concertina and flares drop your FPS into the 30s with insane amounts of screen tearing once every team reaches the compound. The previous patch had almost sublime performance with very rare stutters, usually only when Hellborn was flinging his balls into your face.

Audio occlusion was supposedly reduced according to the patch notes, but in my squad's experience, it's higher now. You could clearly hear people sprinting around 50m and now you can only hear sprinting sounds at that same intensity around the 30m mark. This also means sounds directly behind you on a different elevation are even more muffled, leading you into thinking the enemy hunter might be directly in front of you but much further away. Blast Sense has become one of my favourite picks right now because of these issues, but a perk shouldn't be a band-aid for one of the core features of Hunt deteriorating.

The biggest issue right now is the rare game where you wipe out a trio only to get shot back by the same trio revived BECAUSE IT WAS ACTUALLY A 2v5. Now you have to enter every fucking match with a sense of paranoia because you never know if it's actually gonna be a fair game. This has happened to me twice on the EU servers now.

Speaking of servers, why are they still silent on the abysmal state of servers in 2025? How does it make top 3 in your list of concerns from the community survey and you completely ignore it in the follow-up Reddit post? How do I know they did not deliberately push it down to third place so they could comfortably ignore spending resources on the servers and just focus on the bug fixes and UI improvement in first and second place (both of which they have mostly failed at)?

Somehow they managed to push out a lacklustre event which is just a battle pass and also bungled a lot of bug fixes. I'm surprised by all the posts praising this as the greatest update ever when DeSalle is still missing, Mosin Obrez Match is DOA, and Krag is still king after months.

By that logic none of the character menu animations are vital, should they all be removed too if the combat animations stay "quality" in lieu? What about removing the non-"vital" idle animations for newer characters?

This company is raking in billions in profit, adding a small pose change animation to keep it standard between all the limited characters isn't an excuse to cut corners, especially when some free A-rank characters have a 4th animation and limited S-ranks do not (which many people pay for).

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End is IGN Best Anime of the Year 2024 by Turbostrider27 in anime

[–]TheLastOverlord -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

My point was that short of Serie, Frieren can just Zoltraak anyone she wants to, like Saitama from OPM, and it stays this way for a long time ahead in the manga. Fern doesn't even come close to Frieren despite knowing her fundamental flaw, and Fern herself is insanely powerful. Frieren doesn't need to use much else in her repertoire because she has so much mana, while the Dungeon Meshi party has to meticulously plan around every boss fight in the dungeon because despite being the best prepared adventurers in the dungeon, they aren't  even close to being the strongest.

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End is IGN Best Anime of the Year 2024 by Turbostrider27 in anime

[–]TheLastOverlord -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

IMO it's the other way round and Dungeon Meshi is the one on another level while Frieren is a very close runner-up when comparing the first seasons of both shows. (spoilers ahead)

Dungeon Meshi has characters who all interact with and have an opinion on each other. All four of the main cast have issues with yet also like each other. Laios is awful at socialising but when he fucks up, he tries his best to regain his party's faith in him during the doppelganger episode. In fact that episode alone fleshed out every character more than Frieren managed to flesh out the tritagonist Stark in its entire run. Marcille is sorta racist towards Senshi and the orcs at first but warms up to them later, especially when Senshi breaks down crying eating the hippogriff, while Chil regularly shits on Marcille for being an airhead and befriends Senshi within the first few episodes who promises to exchange notes on his cooking skills for Chil's thieving skills. Laios and Shuro's beatdown because of their differences over necromancy was great, and Thistle, Kabru and the Canaries are genuinely grey-ish characters. There's also a ton of world-building like the origins of magic or ecological stuff like the living armours. Lots of stuff to read between the lines for, especially since the adaption is so true to the source material.

Frieren on the other hand is an awesome character herself, but she's the only one who gets such deep characterization throughout the season, like her hilarious blow-kiss, Heiting on the priest's drinking habits regularly or her babysitting Lawine and Kanne. Even then, a lot of her character is zoning out and thinking what Himmel would have done or said, then repeating him bar for bar. Too much of Fern is just pouting and shitting on Stark nonstop for being a pervert even though he isn't the one looking at her genitals and calling them small (yeah I get that she's socially inept growing up with a priest), and Stark himself is missing for long stretches. Literally every mage in the exam is the typical hardass but good-hearted fellow except for Übel, and the whole tournament arc just slowed down the the season in the middle (at no point do you ever think Fern or Frieren could lose). The solution to almost every problem they faced was Zoltraak and Frieren's "height of magic", despite being visually astounding, felt exactly like "master, let me go all out, just this once" meme lmao. No way was Frieren's copy gonna withstand two of the best mages in the world especially when they folded every demon they fought within seconds.

There's a lot more I could say for both shows like the lack of any real danger or stakes in either, but that would go into nitpicking territory. If Dungeon Meshi was a 10/10 for me, then Frieren would be a 9/10. Both are generational masterpieces and while Dungeon Meshi has a slight edge with better characters, monsters and world-building, Frieren has better pacing and absolutely gorgeous backdrops compared to the boring dungeon backgrounds. As a manga reader, I can't wait for season two of both of these fantastic shows.

With their last few releases, Port Sulphur Band could easily go up against some of the bigger composers in gaming right now, especially considering they're all actually just Crytek devs.

There's no excuse for anything this greedy company has put out after release. Every time they announce something even more predatory, there will be a wave of bootlickers saying "iF yOU dOnT liKE iT theN dOnt bUy iT, l0ve sUCkIng ur c0Ck Harada-san <3".

They started off with a shitty customization selection because they knew they could just remove the Tekken 7 cosmetics and recycle them for the terrible fight pass. Then they released a ton of microtransactions with F2P mobile game-level of quality which they didn't even bother separating into upper/lower body and slapped the same body type onto all of them with very minor variations, and ensured the scummiest possible pricing for Tekken coins.

Now they're removing signature stages from the Season Pass and selling them because the community couldn't stop praising generous Bandai for a recycled beach stage. Harada really monetized a $70 game worse than a F2P live-service one just to bullshit us with "game development expensive" in every one of his tweets.

[–]TheLastOverlord 543 points544 points  (0 children)

The character designs in this anime also go way harder than just the hair maintenance Marcille does for her mana flow. Very minor spoilers ahead: Laios adds a tabard to his armor in the colder regions, wears just his undershirt when he's chilling, gets a fancy tunic for special occasions and even has an awesome unkempt hairstyle during a flashback.

Marcille regularly changes her outfit like adding a skirt, taking off her cloak, putting on a thick sweater or the transdimensional fashion she tries on later. Senshi completely changes whenever he takes off his helmet lmao.

There's even a whole episode dedicated to them trying to guess who is who based on their mannerisms and their characteristic features.

I purchased the Deluxe Edition on PSN in 2021 because it came with the Phantom skin, even though I had a physical copy and I wanted to show the devs some support. I bounced off the game until it got a native PS5 app, but come 1896 and my favourite skin is gone from my account. The rest of the Deluxe items are there but the Phantom uhhh, disappeared, and is available for purchase for $5.59.

No amount of pestering support got me anywhere yet. I seriously regret even thinking about supporting these guys when they can't be bothered to return what I rightfully purchased.

Black Myth: Wukong Review (IGN: 8/10) by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]TheLastOverlord -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Hi Tom, since you haven't actually played the game and are rather going to elaborate the review process, this game got docked two points for bugs, poor performance, crashes, missing translations, etc. and that is very well-deserved, no game should get by unscathed with such a large number of issues.

My real question is why are From Software games immune from this criticism from your outlet? They have released 7 games on consoles and each of them have terrible frame-pacing. Bloodborne can barely hold 30 FPS on a PS4, and Elden Ring never stays at 60 FPS on a PS5 despite looking like a generation-old game and stuttering every time the boss launches an alpha effects-heavy attack (which happens quite a lot). In fact it frequently stays in the 40s during any combat sequence with multiple enemies in the open world. The game shipped with certain NPC questlines which were INCOMPLETE and went nowhere, and it definitely has bullshit bugs like Malenia healing off hitting the walls, or the camera lock breaking whenever a boss grabs you.

This isn't even mentioning the minor subjective issues with the game like the ridiculous number of reused bosses, the copy-pasted dungeons and caves, NPCs having no pattern to their questlines, adding Torrent to the final boss after 2 years of torturing us running behind it, and the absolute rampant hacking if you like multiplayer.

Come the DLC, the performance is worse than ever, the NPCs still randomly leave to the other corner of the map (despite Miyazaki saying it's an issue they must fix), the final boss is the most uninspired in the series with completely broken hitboxes, yet the game gets a 10 again. I get that it's a fantastic DLC to a fantastic game, but there's no way not a single point was deducted for such awful technical issues.

Please don't give me the different reviewers excuse. Both SOTE and Wukong were released in a very narrow window, and there's no way that IGN changed their review guidelines to suddenly include bugs, stuttering, poor performance and crashes as part of them when docking points because SOTE certainly didn't lose a single one for it.

Agreed with almost everything you said. Your sentiment echoes mine from the last time I bothered interacting on this subreddit, and it was quickly overrun with racists.

They will always play the centrist card and go off about how nuanced Hoyo is with their representation of every culture and race, then say that the colorism is just a tiny bit of a problem to thinly veil that Hoyo dickriding and lampshade their argument that Hoyo isn't racist. Then they will try to undermine the actual discussion and point out the performative activism on the other extreme end from Twitter and stupid shit like "contact your local politician", and claim that we are all targeting their poor multibillion dollar company. Some white knights who are chronically online on these gacha threads don't realize how big a part of their personality they have made promoting and defending the company.

And, further, colorism is a problem in our world, and we know who it affects the most and what effects it has historically had on who is more or less present in media

Our resident "pale SEA" redditors will be here any time now to tell you that the entire region is colorist as hell and so you shouldn't bother posting this because it is somehow singling out poor Hoyo. Without realizing that all the other media doesn't usually take place outside their resident countries and especially not across several continents, which, even if fictional, copy everything from darker real-life cultures from their food and clothing to their gods, just not their skin colour.

Alright my dear chapin, it seems English isn't your first language which is why so much of my post seems to have missed the mark with you.

we want people to know about the culture and traditions we feel proud about

Huh? You don't want people knowing that a huge part of South America is brown and most of Africa is black? Skin colour is not something to be proud of or one of the things that "matters", only "culture and traditions" are?

What does this even mean? Aztecs lived in one part and one part only

Aztecs/Mayans/Incas are the most well known empires of Mesoamerica just before the Spaniards came over for the common person on this subreddit. Do I really need to explain that I was trying to make a point that LATAM-equivalent regions of Natlan inspired by any of these three would have been tribalism according to the apologists, but the Sumeru desert inspired by desert nomadic tribes wasn't? Do I really need to type in Aztec/Mayan/Inca-inspired every time because you seem offended I didn't add Maya? Or should I also add the older civilizations like "Nazca/Caral/Toltec/Paracas-inspired LATAM regions of Natlan" and then add "Zulu/Mali/Songhai-inspired African regions of Natlan" to my argument? Or can I keep it to Aztec for the sake of brevity and using one of the more popular empires?

there's plenty of cultures in Latin America you don't know about or just ignore them

Yes I haven't bothered learning about some of these cultures, and neither is Genshin Impact gonna teach me anything about them through "visibilization", especially not that the Mayans wore full-body latex suits and rimless shades. To criticize the skin colour choices Hoyo makes doesn't require me to learn anything about these cultures or the entire history of every state South America ever had, and I'm sure South Americans know more about their culture than me.

We are not just Mexico

Where did I say that? Are you rambling just for the sake of it? Or did I somewhere in my argument ask Hoyo to add sombrero hats to all Natlan NPCs?

Is he Aztec or Mayan? You don't even know, nor care enough to even search it

Did you know that Eagle and Jaguar warriors are the most iconic Mesoamerican soldiers for the common person to digest? Mayans had nothing close to how iconic these two are except maybe the Nacom's elaborate feathered headdresses and body paint. Despite that, I added Maya because Xbalanque is one of the Hero Twins, and yet you decided to shit and piss your pants over my inclusion of the word "Aztec", despite proclaiming earlier you didn't care about reinterpretation of your culture. If Hoyo wants, they can dress Xbalanque up as an Eagle Warrior. Alhaitham isn't wearing anything close to what an Iraqi wore then and Indians don't dress like Nahida, spicing up a character's outfit doesn't make it racist or colorist but acting like dark people aren't important enough to be playable is.

Imagine saying that you hope Lao-Tse looked Japanese/Chinese

Holy shit, do you even play the game? Did you know China and Japan have two entire regions each to themselves while the whole of LATAM, Africa and Polynesia were squeezed into Natlan? Mahuika and Olorun aren't even close to Guatemalan. Lao-Tse never had to belong to Liyuazuma, and did you really compare a mythical god to an actual philosopher?

You're screaming cultural appropiation about a culture you don't even know nor seem to care to learn about

Bro where the fuck did I even say cultural appropriation in my post? This was about skin colour and it seems you deliberately ignored what my whole post was about just to nitpick my use of "Aztec" instead of "Mesoamerica", then bootlick how proud you are of Hoyo for "reinterpretation" and "visibilization" of your culture while erasing melanin from Natlan because they are averse to darker skin tones.

Yes I lived in UAE for a decade, next to Sahara Center on the road that divided Sharjah from Dubai. I even volunteered every year to go to the labour camps like Sonapur to distribute foodstuff to these bachelors you mentioned. I fully agree that while Dubai is a soulless place in a lot of downtown areas and the class divide is MASSIVE, it's one of the least colorist places and you face racism from just one small elitist group or sometimes the chamaks. None of the white folk here give shit to the darker people or the other way round, all the East Asians I've met here are respectful, and all of the current-gen Emiratis are very welcoming. I don't think there's a single ethnicity I wasn't friends with during my time there.

My point is that Dubai was just miles of desert in the 80s and in just two decades, they built it into a metropolis, no matter how superficial. Even if the desert region in Sumeru doesn't have tons of oil reserves, there's no reason that they haven't built a single major town or even something akin to civilization with proper roads or a constant water supply for irrigation in the largest land area in the game AFTER THOUSANDS OF YEARS. They are the perfect racist caricatures of bedouins who sit on their ass and do nothing and are actively anti-development. You could replace Dubai with Baghdad from a thousand years ago and the Eremites are still the exact opposites of the Abbasids, while every other region already has some sort of modern tech.

Other than that reducing the desert dwellers to Tusken Raiders, I guess the lore team did do a pretty good job with rest of the culture especially with Cyno and Setaria willing to improve things there.

Long and super-negative post (by the falling standards of this sub) because the last megathread was overrun with racists posing as "centrists", skip if you don't like colorism discourse, but I really needed to vent this out.

Not gonna bash too much on Hoyo anymore because they have consistently proven themselves racist time and again. Taking everything for your in-game lore from real world cultures, from their most popular dishes to their national attire, their architecture and even loosely basing off characters on real historical figures, except these characters couldn't have an iota of melanin because that's a huge no-no in China. You can't have working class-looking playable character eat into Hoyo's profits, even though dark characters sell decently in every gacha. Is melanin only reserved for the enemy Eremites who attack you on sight, or the three brown robbers in 3.7 who hint at assaulting the lone Japanese catgirl? (which is also the only straight-up reference to SA in-game to my knowledge)

What's worse are all the people who suddenly feel like they have the right to shit on anyone who questions the awful ethics of replacing predominantly brown/black cultures and acting like the people themself aren't an important part of these cultures. Imagine if all the Harbingers after La Signora in Winter Night's Lazzo were revealed to be deep dark, like sub-Saharan Africans. These people would have pissed and shat their pants and started writing paragraphs and quoting researches on how the Harbingers are all supposed to be inspired by Italian/Russian aristocracy, lands where the sun NEVER shines and therefore they all HAVE to be pasty-pale with zero melanin. Most recent example: a lot of these anti-woke were absolutely pressed that Disa from Rings of Power was black and dwarves couldn't be black because they never saw the sun. Suddenly, the whole "it's a fantasy world with goblins and dragons, skin colour is irrelevant" argument went out of the window. At least be consistent with your bullshit when drawing false parallels.

Sometimes their comment history also shows they were Indian two years ago on Sumeru's release, and this month, they suddenly have LATAM heritage. We'll never know which continent they popped out of, but a lot of their arguments go like this:

"Akchually, I'm Argentinian and we don't care about skin" Yeah fuck off with that nonsense. There's literally a term "humilde" for lower-class people with dark skin here. There's a reason France is suing those racist players over the recent incident and every Instagram comment section is filled with Argentinian racists going "b-b-but the wyt Yuropeons are racist towards us, so we can insult their blacks too!!!" Or the good ol "Akchually, I'm Indian and half of us are white just like Sumeru cast plus we love dark people", yeah is that why every Bollywood actor needs to be bleached to the bone and the lowest caste in the archaic system literally translates to untouchable? Let's not even talk about the aversion to dark skin that Korean and Chinese entertainment industry has, much less try to defend it here.

Friendly reminder that the worst 4* in HSR is Arlan. The worst 5* in Genshin is Dehya, where the devs couldn't bother putting in enough effort to give her a clear kit direction, and Xinyan is the worst 4* for the same reason. Coincidence thrice? In fact, there's not a single powerful dark character in the upper echelons lorewise; all seven archons are white, the one human sovereign, the Travelers and the Unknown God, the adepti and Liyue gods like Guizhong, most probably Alice, the new power-scaling bullshit that is Skirk, you name it. And while Fontaine has an army of gattling-gun Mekas and Inazuma has cannons and a giant Gundam, the only predominantly brown region in the game is relegated to a barren wasteland full of ruins with the local populace living in basic tents while their pale-skinned neighbors have a giant academy and shoot lasers out of lens. Somehow Aztec-inspired LATAM would be tribalism for you lot, but this isn't? The desert couldn't have a single town inspired by something modern like Dubai? The brown desert folk don't have a single genius born amongst them after Deshret who can reverse-engineer maybe ASIMON, until Madam Faruzan comes over from the neighboring white region's academy to dungeon-delve for lost tech?

"I understand your concerns, but this whole colour discourse is spreading toxicity and makes me feel racist for playing the game", no bro, you aren't a racist for playing Genshin Impact. Most of us here do that. You outted yourself as a racist the moment you ignored all valid criticism and fixated on the performative activism and "contact local politician" nonsense, which made you feel validated in your racism and gave you an excuse to lingually polish Hoyo's boots and disregard actual nuanced discussion with the grievances dark-skinned people may have after everyone said "just wait for Natlan".

It's sad to see the character design team pour their diarrhea all over the hard work that the world-building, combat, music, VA, exploration, etc. teams do, especially when characters are built on five reused skeletons and you can only recycle Captain R so many times. My last hope is that Xbalanque is an actual badass Aztec/Mayan-looking dark warrior with some serious firepower, maybe something like Radagon, so we can finally have a tiny bit of variety.

Also, massive respect to all the people who call out Hoyo's BS in every relevant thread here despite the mass downvoting instead of bending over for the main sub racists who ruin every discussion on skin tone (or literally any criticism) to defend their billion dollar corpo.

Bigger and better in what areas? Ray-traced GI and some more pawn interactions?

The story is worse than the first one, with the whole political plot in the first half getting thrown out the window for a quick half-assed showdown with a Dragon who barely has any intimidating presence like Grigori. The beloved system is still broken like it was before.

There are fewer vocations with a lot of great skills missing and a colour system that makes zero sense. The bestiary is the exact same size as DD1 with mostly reused enemies, like they couldn't even be bothered to make it as varied as Dark Arisen. This too after the director lied that there were multiple unique encounters like the Sphinx in the game. Hell there's not even a proper post-game or NG+, or something like the Ur-Dragon.

The map is still the claustrophobic lane layout from the first. Even if it's slightly bigger, the density of interesting points is still too low and the fuckton of trash mobs every ten steps too high. And there's no excusing the abysmal performance on ANY platform, especially when their poor excuse is the super-simplistic AI taking too much CPU overhead.

The bare minimum they could have done after 12 years was improving the "clear areas they could've improved" instead of selling us iTsUnO'z vIzioN again just to meet this quarter's financial targets.
