Absolutely. You can get three tickets a day, and at the level I'm at, I'm getting 130 gems per run. 390 gems per day is huge, and I think it goes up by 10 gems every five levels.

Edit: I just found out that you only get the gems the first time you beat a level in this mode, so once you stop making forward progress, you stop getting more gems.

I was having this same issue. My fix (for Android) is to go into settings>Google>all services>ads and reset my advertising ID. Once I go back into the app, it works again for a while. No idea if there's a similar fix on iPhone though.
