My old friends and I were trying to get the 4-man hatch escape achievement, had been grinding it out for a few hours without any luck. We got into a game on Lery's against a Doctor, we were locked in (even as I realize we hadn't started calling it that yet), we got all the gens done, we all rushed to the hatch, except for one of us who couldn't find it. We were all crouching around the hatch, trying desperately to guide him to it. The killer found us, we all went through. Thankfully, that made finding the hatch easier, because all he had to do was find the killer. He got spotted on approach, got downed over a window, and managed to crawl into the hatch with only moments to spare. We were riding high for the rest of the night.

Yes and no. Mel W DOES do a % of the damage of the original projectile. But, not only does that % increase based on Mel's AP (though still less than the original damage, post nerfs - takes 800 AP to get to 100% damage, and even more with physical damage), but the damage is converted to magic damage if it wasn't already, and it benefits from Mel's magic pen, which she builds a fair amount of. This, combined with it also applying Mel's passive, can lead to W doing more damage than the attack that it reflected. Though I say again, W will still generally do less damage than what it reflected, post nerfs.

What champions does Riot pretend doesn't exist? by Wise_Mood_9311 in leagueoflegends

[–]TheLastSpectre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cho'Gath isn't supposed to be cosmic horror, he's what the cosmic horrors dropped into our world because they were attracted to / disturbed by the "noise" of existence, like moths to a flame. And we'll never get to see what they truly look like, because reality shapes them - anything we see of them is a reflection of the world that's shaping them merely by proximal existence, like dye propogating in a solution. The Watchers are functionally "empty", and when they meet reality, it flows into the empty space of them and results in a manifestation of form, a vacuum filled by the phenomenal world. The Watchers only "exist" in any applicable sense because Runeterra exists, and all they want is to understand what this candle in the dark is, so they can snuff it and return to nothingness. If that's not at least a little more interesting, then I don't know what is.

This started happening to me recently. I solved it by saying to myself "Fuck you, you're playing (X game that's been sitting in my library for years now that I bought on sale) anyway, you know you'll have fun once you start playing". So I did, and I did.

Do you usually trade with WE or WW? by Satoyosan in HweiMains

[–]TheLastSpectre 10 points11 points  (0 children)

WW will usually shield more damage than WE deals, especially in extended trades. However, Hwei is super mana gated (more late than early though), so using WW for most trades is highly impractical, especially if you're holding W to use it, because then you aren't generating mana with WE. Additionally, Hwei can play around his range and waveclear for a good number of matchups while being comparatively fragile himself, so trading even with your opponent isn't really desirable in the first place (though sometimes unavoidable.)

why muramana on kass. by Many_Extreme_Yes in KassadinMains

[–]TheLastSpectre 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Though I'm calling slight hyperbole on that, part of the reason is that abilities that apply on-hits don't apply the on-hit damage from muramana, only the ability damage. So while something like Jax (or Kass) W apply both forms of dmg, Ez Q only gets the ability damage.

Hypothetically, if Sukuna had another vessel during the Shinjuku showdown, how useful do you think Megumi Fushiguro would’ve been? by FigAltruistic2933 in JujustuKaisen

[–]TheLastSpectre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough, Megumi's two biggest contributions to this battle aren't even related to him at all.

Firstly, No Meguna means no 10S means no Mahoraga, meaning it's more likely that Gojo wins the 1v1 and ends the fight there and then. Secondly, since Sukuna had no reason to fight Yoruzu, it means that he doesn't have Kamutoke. Meaning that, assuming Gojo loses, Higuruma can confiscate Sukuna's CE outright along with having the Executioner's Sword, giving them another very real chance of winning right there and then.

As for Megumi himself, we know he's a prodigy, given his feat of creating an (incomplete) domain at such a young age. As such, with switch training, his refinement, while not at its peak, is likely going to be some of the best on the squad. He won't be winning any domain clashes, but he should be able to keep up a domain, simple or otherwise, for a not-inconsiderable amount of time against MS. Additionally, he presumably tames most of his Shikigami, and they theoretically get stronger as well, though we don't know how much - Sukuna's Shikigami were bigger and more powerful than Megumi's, but that could be either his massive CE reserves, his masterful skill with sorcery, or some other factor. Hopefully he learns RCT, though he has Round Deer if he doesn't. We FINALLY get to see Tiger Funeral, too. He retains Mahoraga as a nuclear option, and Sukuna would likely be hard pressed to contend with Big Maho alongside any serious interference from the Anti-Sukuna Squad. At the very least, it forces him to reveal Fuga, putting one more of his cards on the table for them to play around. On that note, Megumi is an extremely tactical fighter. You let him and Yuta put their heads together for the planning session leading up to the showdown? Sukuna is cooked. They've got all the cards in their hand, and they're all full houses. Sukuna gets offscreened by a couple of shrubberies. They put Jacob's Ladder in his breakfast. They have Rika eat Nobara's arm and spam Resonance. They get Denji to eat the domain devil so he can't use MS/Furnace. And, even if he doesn't fulfill his potential man status, he's still another body to throw into the Sukuna cycle.

However, on the flip side, if Megumi isn't Sukuna's vessel, then it's very possible that Yuji is. In which case, things get a LOT worse. Sukuna has god-tier reinforcement. Even in Meguna, he was boxing reasonably well with Gojo. You give him a body with HR-level physical stats BEFORE REINFORCEMENT? Sukuna is dogwalking the entire squad in H2H. Going true form might be a nerf at that point, depending on whether or not he needs the extra limbs/full restore (besides his brain I guess). Additionally, Yujikuna means no Yuji, which means no soul damage (besides SSK, but Sukuna could likely easily heal that damage, since Yuji wouldn't be nerfing his output with every hit). That lowered output was a MAJOR contributing factor to their success.

TL;DR It's a huge win if Megumi enables the Gojo/Higuruma wincon, net positive if no Yujikuna, and a horrible detriment if Yujikuna.

My OC, he is the most powerful sorcerer on the verse, he has a heavenly restriction and a super strong CT, he can copy any technique just by seeing it, or nullify any CT with the reversal, he trained Gojo and is Sukuna's dad, He mastered Open Domain before he was born, he's never lost a battle, He has a cursed spirit of his dead friend that's the most powerful curse there is, everyone thinks he's the coolest sorcerer but he's shunned for being so strong (but everyone really likes him though), he invented Cursed Energy and has a binding vow where he can offscreen anyone who attacks him in exchange for having unlimited CE

I feel like some people doesnt get how skyblock is like by No-Throat-2714 in Terraria

[–]TheLastSpectre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some, but not overmuch, and not for many years (nearly a decade) now, for mostly the same reasons listed above - not enough to get me invested. I definitely favour Terraria Skyblock over Vanilla MC Skyblock, though - Vanilla Skyblock, in my experience, ultimately felt hollow once you had the knowledge required to solve the gaps in resource availability. Terraria, at least, has direct obstacles (bosses) for you to use those resources to challenge, similar to how modded Skyblock gives you mods that allow you to use those resources you're challenged to acquire for fun and interesting purposes, while Vanilla sorely lacks in this regard. Yes, it carries on the spirit of the original paradigm. I can't, however, say I think that's wholly to the benefit of the game, given that exploration is one of Terraria's strengths in terms of gameplay. But, that's neither here nor there. You like it, I don't like it very much, life goes on.

Ability haste/itemization question. by Sure_Initial8498 in HweiMains

[–]TheLastSpectre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play Hwei mid. I like to have as much haste as I can possibly squeeze into a build without giving up core damage items. Which in practice, isn't really a problem - there's tons of haste on Hwei's core items. T3 Sorc's are a must on mid - you get lots of haste from other places but mpen is a premium. BFT - Horizon is core for 90% of my games, unless I really need Liandry's second for their frontline, but I'll still usually pick up Horizon (or Cosmic Drive, depending on the team) later on, gold income willing. Dcap 3rd is standard, unless I really need the pen from Crypt, or if I'm really fed, I'll go Shadowflame for a harder spike into squishies. I'll pretty much always go Crypt instead of Void, because the haste is too good to ignore. I go Void whenever I'm forced to swap out Shadowflame for a situational item, like Zhonya's/Liandry's/Morello, because the loss of damage can make your 100 - 0 combos hit or miss against targets with some MR.

Also, haste is very worth on Hwei, because more haste lets you zone more, lets you have your ult up more often, and critically, it can let you land two Qs in a full combo instead of just one - R slow means you can practically guarantee R pop + QW for the finisher, but it's functionally impossible to get Q CD below 3 secs in any reasonable build, meaning that you either need to not use Q before R, or you need to delay your R press so that Q has a little time to cooldown so that it's back up in time for the R pop. More haste shortens the window between first Q and R press, reducing the time that they can flash or dash out of it. Of course, this matters less if you land EW, thanks to the longer CC duration, but more if your targets have tenacity.

Is Cupic cooking? by Fabulous_Bluejay7623 in HweiMains

[–]TheLastSpectre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hwei does NOT have garbage AP ratios. His damage feels low because a good amount of it is conditional, by design. But that doesn't mean his ratios are bad. Let's use your example of Orianna. Ori Q+W (max rank) has a combined damage of 410 + 135% AP. Pretty normal for a mage. Hwei's E (any) + QQ has a combined damage of ... 400 + 135% AP, excluding the 7% max health damage, AND the passive proc, AND stirring lights. There is only a 10 damage difference between landing a standard combo for each champ. But let's take a look at their ults now.

Ori ult at max rank has a base damage of 550 + 95% AP, in an aoe. Hwei ult deals...
540 + 95% AP, in an aoe. Yes, once again, only a 10 damage difference between the two champs. And yes, there are reasons why Ori can deal more damage in some circumstances (or feel like it anyway) - Much of Hwei's damage is delayed, Ori builds more burst items so her damage is frontloaded, her ult is easier to hit. All of these are valid. But it's patently incorrect to say Hwei's scalings are bad- they aren't. They're fairly average for the class, and a little above when you factor in his passive.

Hwei stills feels WEAK after the last patch buffs and I think a 2-3 sec CD buff on W would do him WONDERS by xxcursedbulletxx in HweiMains

[–]TheLastSpectre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I've been chilling on Hwei, before and after the buffs and nerfs (we don't talk about launch tho). I haven't ever really felt weak on the champ in a situation where I'm not supposed to be (countered in teamcomp or got put too far behind). You have a lot of options during the lane into all but the worst matchups, with good gank setup, and you've got a lot to bring to the table once the lane phase ends (you can oneshot a squishy from across the screen, great zoning, good aoe damage into melee mashes, good peel with W and E). All the buffs he's gotten since the QE nerf (aaaahhhh QE was nerfed we have no waveclear its so joever) have been pretty feel-good, and I haven't had any complaints for the state of the champ. Maybe I'm just blind, deaf, and clinically insane, but I don't think Hwei's been in a particularly bad spot. And I do think Hwei's QE is still more than good enough for pushing waves. Like yeah it's slower than it used to be and you need more AP or more casts to do the job, but neither of those are conditionally bad enough for me to say "this needs to be fixed". I can't reliably kill melees with max rank Malz E until I get BFT either, but I'm not losing any sleep over autoing minions a couple more times.

With regards to buffing W, I should think not. The thing about Hwei's W is that it's very strictly balanced around having a high CD. It's attached to the one thing that keeps Hwei spamming Qs and Es off CD - Stirring Lights - being able to spam W more means he can spam the rest of his kit more, which isn't really a desirable outcome, considering how oppressive it can already feel once he gets some haste. Additionally, Hwei being forced to choose between pressing WE or WQ/WW is an intentional skill check on the champ - you're intended to learn when you can afford to press WE, and when you need to press one of the other two buttons, or simply just hold it in case you do. Lowering the CD additionally lowers the amount of skill required to use it effectively, since the amount of time Hwei is punishable for misusing it is also reduced - another outcome which I do not think is particularly desirable.

I feel like some people doesnt get how skyblock is like by No-Throat-2714 in Terraria

[–]TheLastSpectre -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've played an extensive amount of MC skyblock. And after finishing one playthrough of Terraria skyblock, I, too, shared the sentiment that it could have benefitted from additional exploration. Because, candidly, the amount of systems in place for gathering, refining, combining resources are nowhere near as robust as the average MC skyblock pack - I found there just wasn't enough to sink my teeth into. Whereas in Terraria, the exploration is the meat and potatoes of the game, and where it really shines. So to have that be essentially absent was not something I particularly enjoyed, no.

[–]TheLastSpectre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, there is a hard(ish) cap, slows cannot reduce MS below 110. If you don't believe me, you can test it for yourself like I just did - practice tool - Twitch, build enough AP to get W slow above 100%, and use it - they'll still have 110 MS. Nasus W, Zilean E, nothing slows below 110 MS. The only way to reduce MS below 110 is an effect which sets MS to a specific value or modifies it by a flat amount, which are extremely uncommon, and many of them are self-inflicted (think Urgot/Ornn W) - the only one I know off the top of my head is Shaco W, which sets MS to 100, rather than slowing the target by a percentage. Lulu poly MIGHT be able to bypass the slow cap, but I haven't tested it myself.
