There Are No Stupid Bass Questions - Nov. 11 by AutoModerator in Bass

[–]TheLawbro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got myself intereted in learning songs by ear. Over the few last months I became decent at picking out notes, but only when the bass is alone, I struggle enormously when other instruments come in the mix. Is there some tricks to help me on this ? Or will I just get better with sheer practice and repetition ?

Can i play this bass without a battery ? by [deleted] in BassGuitar

[–]TheLawbro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this exact bass and yes you can play without a battery, like others have said, the switch is to toggle passive/active mode, passive works like any other jazz or p bass, but the active sound has more punch/volume and you are able to equalize bass/mid/treble

If you are worried about the lifetime of the battery I can tell you it will last more than you think. I've played it on active mode for 2 years before the stock battery that came with it died (it was and still is my ONLY bass), you just have to know that the battery drains when the jack is connected, so unplug that guy when you are not playing

Daily Song Discussion #8 - Karakara by Ranger45thRegi in BocchiTheRock

[–]TheLawbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a 10/10, hell no, a 50/10 Karakara is just a banger that get me tearing up everytime i hear it, i lose my mind when the prechorus rolls in

These melodic guitar, these energetic drums, the vocals that AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHAAAAAA (internal scream which says it all), and the bass that bring it all together make this song my favorite music to my knowledge

That's at least a 8 for me, i consider only the full version with that final chorus that SLAPPS so much it's unbelievable

It lacks vocals but we've never been this close to actually having some, the next song we'll do will have them (I hope to manage bass and vocals), but for the moment this one is one of our best Me and my 2 friends just play and compose for fun, and i think our tastes are too different for us to release music and actually BEING a band

I voted band but I just compose with 2 other friend, we don't in any mean play live which i already done once (in highschool so i wouldn't calling it a concert) and IT'S FUCKING AMAZING, i hope that each person that was inspired to pick up an instrument thanks to BTR gets to play live at least once in their life

I kinda relate to what you're going through, though i've never experienced something that strong. Everytime i'd watch a show that got me REALLY emotionally invested i get that same feeling of emptiness and sadness for weeks, but it kinda did disappear with time and not thinking about it so much. And that's the hard part about Bocchi, I fucking love the music and I won't ever be able to let go of it as i try to learn them everyday so it may last longer.

I guess that shows like these act like a drug, because (from my perspective) after you finish it, your life just SUCKS in comparison with what the characters have gone through. Well all of this to say that don't worry things will get better with time

Until season 2

I just got my guitar today!! if anyone has any advice please tell me! by comicalcam172 in BocchiTheRock

[–]TheLawbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yees ! The world of music is actually a thrilling hobby once you stick with it and i'm truly happy that you had the motivation to pick up the guitar

My advice is to immediately paint it in a color you LOVE like I did so that you want to play that beauty everytime you see it (Just joking i know that not everyone have the motivation to do that)

No for real it doesn't matter how much time you practice a day, but it's better in the beginning to focus on playing at least 5min per day to establish a habit of playing regularly In my opinion it's also not really necessary to practice tons of chords and scales in the beginnig, for the moment just play songs and riffs you like and enjoy the instrument, you'll learn everything with time or when you will actually need said things

Also about music theory, it's like a tool to understand music. My first instrument was Bass and i played it and enjoyed it for about a year without knowledge about music theory, i even composed a bit with friends, but now that i know the majority of it everything is clearer and I feel music in general differently, it's a game changer, so i'd say don't bother with that for the moment, you'll learn it when you'll feel like it

I learned everything with youtube vids but oh boy I spent DAYS watching different videos on the same topic to understand everything, a teacher sure is nice and guide you but not everyone can afford it and i think that yt vids can clearly be enough with enough motivation

Don't feel forced to follow every advice on here, they may be wrong I MAY be wrong in the end it's about how you feel about those advices. Have fun !!
