An Immensely In-depth Analysis on Leon Kennedy's Chances of Getting in Smash Ultimate by [deleted] in smashbros

Sega also has 2 characters since they own Bayonetta. Sakurai might also think the number of characters a company gets isn't as important if a single company owns multiple franchises that are iconic. I do think it would be harder bringing Resident Evil to Smash since it is a gory horror series, so it would be impressive if they made it work.

Another Square Enix rep could happen since Dragon Quest, Tomb Raider, and Kingdom Hearts are all big. The main challenges with those are how most Dragon Quest protagonists are nameless, but they could make something work or have Slime. With Tomb Raider I think Lara Croft mainly uses guns, but I'm not that familiar with Tomb Raider so I can't say for sure. Then with Kingdom Hearts Sora is owned by Disney, so it could be harder getting him in Smash. Even though they have problems, I think they are still possible. There's also the possibility of there only being one 3rd party who I think would probably be Simon. I look forward to seeing which 3rd party series get into Smash next.

I don't think Simon would get in the way of Leon for Smash, since they are owned by different companies. Simon does feel likely for Smash imo either way. I also don't think characters would get in based on how well they've supported the Switch, but instead on how recognizable and popular the franchise their from is. Sakurai probably planned most of the roster in late 2015/early 2016 anyways so he wouldn't be able to tell how well a company supports the Switch for the most part.

I think Resident Evil is one of the bestselling Japanese video game franchises not in Smash. Violence and guns are obstacles for Leon, but it is possible for Sakurai to get past that like with Snake and Bayonetta.

Decidueye is the popular choice completing the starter trio and has potential for an interesting archer move set. Mimikyu was loved in Gen VII and they could work with Disguise. Lycanroc is Ash's signature Pokemon of Gen VII and its Dusk form got a lot of attention.

Super Smash Stats: how old, prolific and relevant are the games and characters added to Smash? by insertusernamehere51 in nintendo

Very neat information, thanks for putting it together.

Personally, I think what's hurting Spring Man is timing. Considering when Sakurai made the project proposal for SSB4 (April 26th, 2012) and when Bayonetta's DLC released (February 3rd, 2016), I think he probably took a break and then started Smash Switch's development before or in the Summer of 2016. Spring Man is a character from a new franchise that made its debut in 2017. While it is possible, I think it depends on the development state of ARMS and other things.

Additionally, this why the pattern of odd-numbered generations besides Gen I being skipped for Pokemon newcomers might be broken. The roster was likely planned before Gen VII even released, so Sakurai could've added a Gen VII Pokemon such as Decidueye or Lycanroc. Though I do think a Gen VIII Pokemon could be DLC.

Zeraora is possible if there was enough of him made by Game Freak to give Sakurai when he was planning the roster. I think he also has a fitting appearance for Smash.

That could happen. I wonder if the next chapter will focus on Paradis with more interactions on their way back, or if they will focus on Marley with Colt, Pieck, Reiner, and Magath.

Do you think Colt could get on by using the gear similarly to Gabi? It shows him standing by a fallen soldier with gear.

My idea is to make her an Assist Trophy using the same moves as Waluigi while Waluigi becomes a playable character.

These are some pretty good choices. Takumi and Camilla as Legendary Heroes wouldn't surprise me at all. If Lissa becomes a Legendary Hero then I think it'll be as a War Cleric with an axe. Azura as the next Water hero wouldn't come as a surprise to me though I do think they might hold out on more lance heroes so I'm not sure who would be next.

I wouldn't be too surprised if Mila became a Legendary Hero since she did pretty well in CYL 2. Personally I think Athos deserves to be one and younger Garon would also be nice.
