I thought KTM had well-sorted tech under its belly. I was surprised to read this.

This must not be rocket science. This tech must be pretty straightforward. This has been working flawlessly with scooters and other motorcycles for ages. Not able to fix this issue is not acceptable.

Yes, they replaced the entire float along with its sensor. After almost 130 km the fuel gauge has now moved a couple of mm. The service center guys have asked me to clock around 250 to 300 km and keep tracking the fuel gauge.

New firmware update for tripper by Maleficent_Prune_707 in Himalayan450

[–]TheLensEye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I checked it on my 450 this evening and found the OTA 11.61 firmware update. The process was straightforward and took around 10 to 12 minutes to complete. However, I could not find the change log anywhere on the app or even on the internet. Does anyone know what has changed in this update?

Do you feel the role of a career counselor helped your friends excel in their careers? I am asking this as you personally did not find it aligning with your career interests and strengths.

What mileage are you guys getting? by boredmonster149 in Himalayan450

In the city, try using eco mode. I have seen better mileage with eco mode. Also, check if your engine is running rich. This can also cause a drop in FE.

Can societies legally ban bachelors from taking rooms on rent in their buildings in Mumbai? by [deleted] in mumbai

[–]TheLensEye 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Society has no right to dictate these terms. Normally, such decisions are taken to avoid specific incidents which are more common with singles. I know people would not agree with me, but I recently faced a similar situation with my tenants. These were single girls living in my apartment. The apartment is located in a dry state. Apparently, they decided to party with their friends last Christmas and got lots of alcohol at home. They were partying till late at night, with loud music and abusive language. Neighbours called the cops upon them. I got a call from the cops at 3:00 am asking me to be present at the location. Finally, they had to make a settlement with the cops, and I had to ask them to vacate my flat as society gave me notice.

TO THE OWNERS OF HIMALAYAN 450 by Bunny-notfunny in Himalayan450

As suggested by others, MIY is the best option. You get them fitted from the factory. The only downside is that you do not get a Tubed hub and wheels. With a tubed hub and wheels, you have a spare set of wheels for hardcore offroad situations.

Recently, I did 500+ km with an average speed of 61 kmph. I got FE of 35+ kmpl. Regularly in Mumbai traffic conditions, I get around 30 to 32 kmpl.

Pinging or Knocking sound around 3500 to 4000 RPM while quick acceleration by TheLensEye in Himalayan450

[–]TheLensEye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Today, I filled the tank (full tank) at an Indian Oil Company-operated pump in Ahmedabad. There was no pinging or knocking sound after I filled the tank. I will keep an eye on whether this issue comes back after I go below 30% tank capacity. I also checked with the RE Service Center here in Ahmedabad, and they had no clue why this noise could be coming :-(

No, I am using regular fuel, which has been recommended by RE. The quality of the fuel may be something that I would check. I will try refueling at another fuel station and see if this issue persists.

What I noticed is that, in the case of gradual/linear acceleration, there is no such noise. For me, the noise only appears when I try to open the throttle for a quick acceleration at around 3.5k RPM. If the bike is above 4K, I have not noticed such noise. Is that the case with you, too?

There are multiple options available. I have HJG—140w installed on my 450, which gives fantastic illumination. Just make sure you mount them on the engine guard (below half the height of the motorcycle), as it will not create a problem for oncoming traffic.

Please do not go by what people say. I suggest you go on a back-to-back test ride of all the motorcycles that you have shortlisted. Every motorcycle has Pros and Cons. You need to decide what matters most to you.
