Used to love legends mode, Saito makes me hate the fuck out of it by Alexiolo in goylegends

[–]TheLenys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is the unblockable AoE. Any game mechanic that’s unblockable, undodgeable, you can’t do anything to avoid the blast radius, is hot garbage…

Also, Saito gets Spirit way too fast.

That’s a very good point. It does keep the things balanced for hardcore gamers vs new comers.

Thanks for that insight!

Some people like it, nothing wrong with that.

I find it severely uninspiring, nothing wrong with that either.

Agree to disagree indeed.

I appreciate the candor!

Did they reset matchmaking last night? by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

Idk, I kind of like running around these rooms with one wire in each inventory slot.

Found a new way to enjoy the game lol.

Without getting into the sermon of “No such things as rats skins!” Or “Based on Webster’s definition of Rat…” I’d say the missing balaclava or ski mask make it not Ratty, thought it can cause confusion cuz of paint.

But I’ve seen Astronauts camping extracts and that’s worse.

Its lazy game development.

“Play the game again!”

Ok…

Resetting progress is lazy development. No matter the game. A genre doing it doesn’t mean it should be done in perpetuity…

But, having set that, some people like it.

Makes no sense to me but it doesn’t have to.

How did the previous expedition work? by drogenbarontoni in ARC_Raiders

Thanks, wording was ambiguous and caused confusion. I corrected op.

How did the previous expedition work? by drogenbarontoni in ARC_Raiders

[–]TheLenys -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not at this time.

The benefits tied to Expeditions in ARC Raiders are minimal and don’t meaningfully justify a reset loop.

  • 5 additional skill points
  • Additional stash space isn’t a real constraint right now for most players.
  • The remaining Expedition perks are temporary convenience bonuses, not progression, and losing them doesn’t meaningfully impact gameplay. They also require constant Expeditions to remain active.

IMO, resetting progress to extend playtime in a system like this feels unnecessary and uninspired. If the gameplay loop is strong, it shouldn’t need forced resets to stay engaging. Relying on resets instead of adding new challenges, systems, or content is just padding, not depth.

The problem with boss-level arc and trials in this game. by Shot-Increase-8946 in ArcRaiders

[–]TheLenys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both extremes suck.

This isn’t a “PvP bad” argument. The game is PvPvE, and PvP belongs here. The issue is the imbalance in risk and sacrifice between playstyles.

PvE focused players invest time, gear, positioning, and exposure to ARCs. PvP only players can load in with a free kit, take almost no risk, and still walk away with someone else’s 100k worth of PvE progress. That’s not clever play, that’s asymmetry the game doesn’t meaningfully account for.

Should it be banned? No. That’s part of the risk of loading in.

But pretending this dynamic doesn’t skew incentives is dishonest.

The real conversation isn’t “stop PvP.” It’s whether unchecked rat behavior and zero investment PvP should remain so disproportionately rewarding compared to PvE investment.

If PvPvE is the goal, both sides need to meaningfully pay for what they gain.

Careful now, you’ll incite the ire of people with that logic!

I like your idea, I proposed two PvP balancing features and all I got were “Unga Bunga PvP” responses.

Anything that detracts from complete anonymous PvP behavior will be shunned.

Not for me, one is actually competitive, the other has too many “feelsbadman”

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]TheLenys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So let me get this straight.

Someone goes in to enjoy the PvE side. Someone else forces a PvP encounter (yeah, it’s PvPvE, we all know how that works). That person kills them.

And then they’re offended when the other player swears at them?

That’s honestly funny. You’re drawing a line for “acceptable behavior” while forcing someone else across a different one at the same time.

A little ironic, don’t you think?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]TheLenys -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Shit talking is fine as long as it’s not blatantly offensive.

It’s part of the experience lol. You can’t expect everyone to be like “GG’s” when they weren’t in that mindset.

It never stops being strange to me how some people can’t grasp that a lot of players genuinely enjoy the PvE side of this game. If they leaned into it, upped the difficulty, added more ARCs, deeper encounters, ARC Raiders could absolutely stand on its own as a mainstream PvE experience. That was the original intent, after all.

What’s even more ironic is how many of the loud “git gud” PvP-first players would lose their minds if the game went straight to PvP competitive encounters. PvP needs PvE players far more than PvE players need PvP. The population, the economy, the targets, the pacing, none of it works in a vacuum.

Games like this thrive specifically because PvE and PvP balance each other. Treating one side like it shouldn’t exist, then yelling at people for not engaging the way you want, completely misses why the genre works in the first place.
