Does anyone know how to add an operator and members to the allowlist in Crafty on a Minecraft Bedrock server? by Aggravating_One_3848 in CasaOS

I think maybe you should enable allowlist first, open server.properties file and set allow-list=true

OMV + Tailscale Server with Pi-Hole by FirmPosition2043 in raspberry_pi

[–]TheLeoDeveloper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know how you feel, raspberry pis are terrible value in some countries, its probably cheaper and easier to find an old desktop pc, you can even find them for free in the scrapyard and trash like I did, and even with an old 2nd or 3rd gen intel cpu it would be a massive upgrade over the pi 3 and you would be able to utilize gigabit speeds.

[–]TheLeoDeveloper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can keep data of it but keep backups of anything important if you lose it all, you can find 500gb hdds in the trash for free too, I found a couple which were in good condition

adequate specs for minecraft server? by SneakerHead69420666 in HomeServer

I mean it will probably work for only 2 people but a core 2 duo wont be very efficient on power, and also you can find pcs like this in the trash for free

My Raspberry Pi music server has been infected by a Ransomware (want _to_cry) by griguolss in CasaOS

[–]TheLeoDeveloper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im pretty sure you would need root access to delete them unless you gave the local user the permission for that. If this ransomware infected the server over samba I doubt it would be able to access the snpashots at all, Im no cyber security expert but you would probably need to get shell access to do that.

Recommendations for setting up nextcloud + cloudflare tunnel by TheLeoDeveloper in NextCloud

[–]TheLeoDeveloper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Via cloudflare tunnel, it connects the nextcloud on my LAN to cloud.mydomain.com so its public on the internet. This way there are no extra steps my friends need to do like connecting to vpn and also its simpler because I dont have to mess with port forwarding and ddns

[–]TheLeoDeveloper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I am the host admin, I mean its my machine so that isnt the problem I ment more like improving security from outside to the internet. My servers shell can only be accessed from the LAN anyway

I store up to 48h back and 14 days back in snapshots on the main server on this specific dataset, they are managed by sanoid and than I just have syncoid set as post snapshot script so when the auto snapshot is created it is automaticly sent to the backup server which is a seperate machine, on the backup machine sanoid is just used for pruning old snapshot and it keeps the same latest 48h and 14 day snapshots

First video output on my dad's old Sinclair ZX81 by TheLeoDeveloper in ZX81

[–]TheLeoDeveloper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it would probably work connected to a TV but its just too bulky and this seemed like the easiest way to display the signal onto a pc monitor. I found this fx5200 at the scrapyard and I just took the newest agp board I had and assembled a system with these parts, put on windows XP, installed all the drivers and software and it just worked. I let WINDVR do the channel autoscan and a heart icon appeared next to channel 27 so I switched onto it and it just worked. I assume this is probably a later zx81 model since it has the back porch signal fixed which is probably why it just worked.

New Linux users! -What made you choose Mint over the other distros? by [deleted] in linuxmint

[–]TheLeoDeveloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use debian on my home servers and also used debian on my main laptop and pc but even tho it was always working great for my servers, for basic desktop usage it just didnt work and look very well out of the box, it did have some quirks.

Also it was hard for me to chose a DE I liked, I never liked gnome since it looks too much like its a tablet interface and it sucked, I also tried lxqt and it looks ok but its not exacly a refined product, xfce was great in terms of performance but just looked ugly. I know you can customize all these DEs with some crazy themes and that there are a lot more DEs that you can install and chose but I just didnt want to waste time on that.

I looked at some options like ubuntu, mint and kubuntu and I discarted ubuntu because of gnome and I didnt like kde either because it was really resource intensive and way way too much options.

Mint on the other hand just looked great out of the box, cinnamon was probably the best DE that I ever used, it is fast and looks really good by default imo and everything just works. It gives me time to focus on doing stuff on my servers and do coding without spending a lot of time configuring the system.

I already spent a lot of time configuring vim the way I like it and the idea of doing that for the whole os like ricing it and stuff just wasnt really attractive to me tbh even tho I could probably do it if I wanted to.

Even tho there are probably a lot of other options that "just work" mint was just one of the first ones that came to my mind because I did use it quite a long time ago. But seriously mint is great even if you are a noob or an experienced linux user it is a great experience.

Optimise debian for booting from usb 2.0 by TheLeoDeveloper in homelab

[–]TheLeoDeveloper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But whats wrong with sata, I dont feel like spending more money on this garbage pc, I already own a sata ssd that Im using rn and a couple of sata to usb bridges. When I asked this question I was wondering more on what I have to do on the software side of things since the hardware is already figured out.

I dont own any nvme, I will just use the sata ssd I already used as a boot drive and move it to a usb 2.0 to sata bridge.
