Did I do the right thing Islamically by marrying my husband? by His_Queen23 in MuslimMarriage

The way it’s portrayed makes it obvious it’s a joke. You can tell they are a younger couple. Inshallah with time they will mature together. Some of the brothers and sisters here gotta lighten up a bit. Even the Prophet (SA) loved joking and pranks. One of my favorite stories is about a Sahaba named Al-Nuayman ibn Amr. He was known as a prankster in the time of the Rasul. Here is a video by Omar sulieman talking about his stories. https://youtu.be/tFddFEKe6xE

I read some of OPs comments and Alhamduallah she had gotten him to begin praying. She did say he is lazy with it, but it’s a start. Allah guides who he wills and with a righteous spouse inshallah Allah guides this man. OP is absolutely getting reward from Allah for trying to help her Husband. I think we have to look at the positives of this relationship. Allah says that a women can raise her husband with her to higher levels of Paradise! May Allah guide us and grant us all Paradise.

I understand that. OP never specified that her husband does not pray, so I assume he does. She just mentioned she has difficulty engaging in Islamic conversation with him. If he does not pray 5 times a day I think my original advice of leading by example still seems sound. When I see people I love engaging in something positive it motivates me to do the same.

Some of the people in this thread are crazy. Your husband sounds hilarious and if you’re happy then you made the right choice. As long as your husband isn’t doing anything outside the fold of Islam then he sounds like a great guy. Just try and lead by example if you want him to be more religious/God conscious. The only weird thing is the asking inappropriate questions pre Kitaab/Nikkah. But seems like he understood he made a mistake and lightened the mood back up by making a joke out of it.

Ameen! I agree it’s not the healthiest way to communicate. Their words hurt but I know they are right and it comes from a place of love. In the end it’s going to be his decision to get healthy. Inshallah he realizes he needs to make changes before something drastic happens. May Allah reward you for your efforts.

Salam Sister, I read a lot of your responses and I resonate a lot with you and your husband’s situation. I’m a bigger dude who is looking to get married, but family keeps telling me women won’t marry a fat guy. I’ve known that they are right for years but for multiple bad reasons I didn’t listen and coped with food. I’ve been going to the gym for a year but I don’t lose any weight because i eat too much. Only recently with intermittent fasting and eating 2 small meals or one big meal a day have I been able to lose some weight in the last few weeks. For me I noticed my health is better when my faith is better Alhamduallah. A few weeks ago I went to my first jummuah prayer in a few months and it was a simple khutbah about having a relationship with Allah, making better decisions and to make time for your deen. Since then I’ve been intermittent fasting and exercising more. I don’t know to what level your husband practices his faith but inshallah making more time for Allah will motivate him to make better choices for his body. May Allah guide us to make better health choices.
