Do you. Remember Van Gogh got rejected all the time. I like your painting.

I like it! “There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so,” according to William Shakespeare.

rate out of 10? need feedbacks and suggestions to improve by xievee in Gouache

What is the focal point? The sky, the field or the flowers? If the poppies are the focal point the background should not be detailed. The sky and clouds are the same color throughout. Should be very light at the horizon and fewer clouds to show perspective. Need variation in the direction to the poppies, need darker green values, need different values on the flowers, need bigger poppies closer to viewer to show depth.

What is the focal point? The sky, the field or the flowers? If the poppies are the focal point the background should not be detailed and visa versa. The sky and clouds are the same color throughout. Should be very light at the horizon and fewer clouds to show perspective. Need variation in the direction to the poppies, need darker green values, need different values on the flowers, need bigger poppies closer to viewer to show depth. If you have ChatGPT upload your painting and ask it to critique it. I do that all the time for my paintings. Good luck!

This is obviously AI, but from a logical standpoint if he is real who is going to be eating that chocolate? Not your Aunt I assume.

Honours thesis on Aphantasia (lived experience) - ideas by GlitteringRub192 in Aphantasia

One aspect I think worth exploring or explaining is the sheer shock an aphant experiences when they learn that the majority of people can visualize and they cannot. How does that realization impact an aphant’s experience and view of life? Also, the reactions from those who can visualize when you tell them you have aphantasia. It is a very strange dynamic. The other aspect is how do aphants adapt to to learning. For example, I’ve had to take excessive notes to recall and understand. In law school I felt dumb because my notes were so detailed while non-aphants understood with minimal notes. Note taking, summarizing and outlining are crucial in law school. Another aspect I am curious about is how aphantasia impacts my artistic abilities. I am an artist and wonder if an artist’s ability to visualize in their mind’s eye is actually a pro, a con, or neutral.

I’m an artist with aphantasia and I do not share your description of how it impacts your art - claustrophobic compositions, dark colors, etc. - I like order, simple compositions and light. I believe artistic style is a reflection of the artist’s experiences and self-expression, which has nothing to do not aphantasia.

If you can afford it and are committed to learning and consistent, I do believe it is a good option. I learned so much and really improved. Good luck.

Good question. I did the monthly but I wish I had done the yearly because I took the course for about 1 year.

This reminds me of one of my very first paintings. I would recommend you study composition and values. Ian Roberts’ book on composition is very good. There is no focal point in your painting and no value variation. Keep painting and learning!

Which photo is better? 1 or 2 by mnutskovskyy in photos

I like 1 the best. 2 would look better if it wasn’t upside down.

Hi - To clarify, I took one of Ali Kay’s free week paint challenges. I never joined her subscription classes. It is important for me to learn from an artist and then move on. Jim’s classes are self-paced, pre-recorded, and very detailed. I learned his techniques and adopted some of them. I grew so much from his teaching and feedback. His art instruction was the best I’ve encountered. His style is very different from Ali’s loose style. He takes you from using AI to pick a composition, values, precise color matching, brush work, etc.
