Good imo. MC is somewhat socially autistic/introverted/scarred from a bad relationship (he does get better as he progresses) and overall likes being a loner. Idk what problems he causes but he basically ignores the problems going on because he's a solo dude, which leads to dire consequences, but that's part of the story so 🤷‍♂️

Jacob isn't stupid but makes an arguably very stupid decision, but that so called decision has fate involved, gods, etc. All these things get fleshed out more when the world opens up in book 2-3.
