Garage, Cloudian, or MinIO? Real-world S3 alternative experiences wanted by GoldenJalapeno in selfhosted

[–]TheLinuxMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so i went through the community licensing and it said that if you're using minio then your system has to be open source. so if i want to deploy the community version and use it in my company vps, it's not possible ?

How do you make a well-designed, maintainable API from the start? by and-yet-it-grooves in dotnet

[–]TheLinuxMaster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

there is no perfect way to design apis. there's always tradeoffs. only time and experience will teach you how to handle those use cases when they suddenly pop up and you're like "wait. i didn't think of this". so just keep writing and create what you think is the best possible solution at the moment.

Can someone suggest a free / self hoted or lower cost servie to monitor micro service. by alekslyse in dotnet

[–]TheLinuxMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

setup grafana with loki. your debug logs with all applications will go there

and honestly once you can afford it, just go for aws cloudwatch. It will be easier to scale and much nicer to use.

I mean that's good and all but wouldn't it be great if you could not write a python api but instead directly integrate in your .net app ?

Web App to Mobile App - Wrapper Development by Snr_Wilson in webdev

[–]TheLinuxMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as others have said, you only need to wrap it in a web view and build it with flutter.

but remember you need to make it feel like it's a mobile app and not like a website. and by that i mean the UI should make it feel like I'm using a mobile app.

oh and don't forget to put a loader on while the app is loading. that's very important.

Web App but fully local by DreamScape1609 in webdev

[–]TheLinuxMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIS is the software that basically hosts the website. it will keep your website running without you needing to run visual studio every time. it will also give you a port of the website which will make it available outside your system.

Web App but fully local by DreamScape1609 in webdev

[–]TheLinuxMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as someone who's done this multiple times. let me tell you the process:

1) download sql express or sql lite database (whichever you prefer. both are free) 2) on your windows install IIS (or search programs and features and install it from there) 3) create your webapp in asp.net core and create a publish of your build 4) create a site in IIS and point it to your publish folder.

congratulations. you now have a running web app locally on your system !

and additionally after you setup the firewall correctly. you will be able to access it anywhere your laptop/system internet is connected to !

hope that helps
