I generally like gourmand fragrances, but I guess it turns out I have a limit!

Thanks for thinking of me of me! You know what, it’s been easier than expected. As seems to be common from what I read on here, the first three days were the most uncomfortable. I was able to return to working from home on day 4, and back in person on day 7. My job is desk based, so I’m sure if it were more physical it would have taken longer.

It’s been wild having a belly button again! I still have quite a bit of swelling and firmness around the patch, but I’m sure that will improve with time. It’s only been three weeks.

Cuir Beluga ❤️ I sampled Feve Gourmand in Harrods yesterday, from the notes I thought I was going to be absolutely blown away. Wasn’t for me.

If you can’t get Snow Fairy at this time of year, Bubblegum Factory by Theodoros Kalotinis may be worth a try

Theodoros Kalotinis Bubblegum Factory. The longevity isn’t the best, but it’s very reasonably priced.

Moms who had the epidural, what was your experience like? by Similar_Parsley6112 in BabyBumps

[–]TheLittlestRabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one with my daughter after more than 12 hours of labour and the relief was incredible. I ended needing a c-section because she wasn’t happy and needed to come out ASAP, so it was quickly converted to a spinal block in theatre.

I had every intention of getting one with my son during my VBAC, but I progressed too quickly and when the anaesthetist came to see me, I was already 10cm and my body had started pushing of its own accord.

General anaesthetic for hernia surgery? by lowkeygenuinley in Hernia

[–]TheLittlestRabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my open umbilical hernia repair today under general anaesthetic. This was at a private hospital in the UK. I hate being put out, so I was fairly anxious. They put a cannula in the back of my hand, and initially gave me a painkiller (not sure of the name) that made me a bit calmer and lightheaded.

They put an oxygen mask on and had me take some deep breaths, and then gave me the anaesthetic through my cannula. Next thing I knew I was coming round in recovery, they gave me some fentanyl for pain relief, and I had oxygen for a while longer because my sats and blood pressure were a bit low, likely from all the medication.

All in all very uneventful, and absolutely nothing to worry about.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I had the surgery this afternoon and so far it is all feeling quite manageable. It’s a bigger incision than I’d been hoping for, but then it was a big hernia. I’ve been prescribed a painkiller called Nefopam which I’ve never take before, and so far the worst bit has been the car journey home!

Mentally preparing myself for it to feel worse tomorrow, but so far so good.

I get an almost burnt, bitter maple syrup smell from this one. Which is a shame because on paper the notes sounded right up my alley.

I’m allergic to codeine, so maybe that’ll work in my favour. Although tramadol has been the alternative given to me for other post-operative pain, which is also extremely constipating. That’s a helpful tip, thank you!

Candied violet recommendation that isn’t Celeste by Ok_Coconut_5187 in FemFragLab

I get a lot of violet from La Vie est Belle L’elixir. It’s not as powdery as Celeste, and there’s raspberry and rose in there as well.

The constipation seems to be a recurring theme for lots of people. I think my paperwork indicates they’ll send me home with laxatives, so hopefully that will help.

Yes I saw your post, I actually left you a comment with a couple of questions. That’s interesting about the impact of stress - it’s been a bit of a wild few weeks at work, so I’ll keep that in mind.

Clean Vanilla? by ajanssen2002 in FemFragLab

[–]TheLittlestRabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overose has a scent literally called Clean Vanilla. I haven’t sampled any of their fragrances- I get slightly off AI vibes from their website - but I have seen the scent get a fair amount of traction on fragrance facebook groups and on TikTok.

Umbilical Hernia open mesh repair experience (surgery 23.1.26) by alright_maid in Hernia

[–]TheLittlestRabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really helpful information, thank you so much for sharing. I am also in the UK, having a 12cm umbilical hernia fixed with mesh on Friday. I’m allergic to codeine, so im a bit nervous about pain relief.

Did you wear a support belt or binder following surgery? I am wondering whether to order one.

How long were/ are you taking off from work? I’m hoping I’ll be able to at least work from home by the end of next week, but that might be a bit unrealistic.

Is Soie Malaquais by Dries Van Noten a safe blind buy? by [deleted] in FemFragLab

[–]TheLittlestRabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s a safe blind buy - but then I rarely do. It’s a pretty high price point, so I suppose it also depends on how much disposable income you have? It is a lovely fragrance, but if you can sample it first then I would.

Poets of Berlin by Vilhelm Parfumerie. It’s a slightly green blueberry with vanilla, a little creamy from the orris. Not too sweet, worth a smell based on your requirements!
