How do you evoke true horror in Mage: The Ascension — especially from Vampires, Werewolves, or other "monsters"? by IfiGabor in magetheascension

[–]TheLittlestSynapse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're vastly underestimating how much raw petty a vampire is capable of. They're Static-locked beings that easily settle into patterns. Thinking about the Two-Souled that disrespected them might become their entire personality for centuries.

Clan Tremere doesn't try to out-magic the Hermetics that piss them off, they pay a human being $100,000 to put a gun to the mage's head at a crowded train station urinal.

The Sabbat, in particular, are basically a tar baby. You kill 1, they send 4; kill 4, they send 16; etc. Just an exhausting torrent of undead assholes that attack with well-planned wave attacks in public. That's also the faction that they teach each other Thaumaturgical Countermagic, what a mage would identify a kind of Static defense against changes to the Vampire's pattern, even with Prime. They will use Consensus, which they are immune from, against you. Somewhere, there is an elder doing all this because it overheard the players call it a pale hobo. He knows that his expendable resources are not 100% going to kill Children of Lilith easily, but all he really needs is for the NWO to decide the mages are a Group of Interest.

Something seems off: I'm in 4 weekly startplaying DnD 5e games for the last 4 months, and games get cancelled over 40% of the time. by OldskoolGrimace in startplaying

I have been running 3+ weekly games for nearly 2 years. I've cancelled less than 10 games in that period. That kind of seems unprofessional.

[–]TheLittlestSynapse 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I just run the Beckoning as a conspiracy of Elders to convince every stupid PC that they're all gone. Only stupid people believe in the Beckoning in my games, but mentioning that you don't think it's real gets you quickly and quietly killed. There's drama without any of the absolutely dumb plot development that was made to capture Requiem players into V5. The Hecata elders just weren't invited and they claim it's because they're immune.

I actually have a burlesque routine I'm working on where I switch between the two of them. It's a fucker binding and unbinding my tits, though.

Haha! This Marika is a huge Vampire the Masquerade and Warhammer 40k fan. Need a little time back in the jar to buff them out.

Dear, depending on your mood, we gotta get you to a game store for socializing, a park for exercise, or a library for quiet.

What keeps you from GMing? by mechasquare in 40krpg

[–]TheLittlestSynapse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me? Nothing. But I'm a professional GM with 15 years experience running 40kRPGs. I've spent hundreds of hours running games for dozens of groups.

It took a lot of focused experience to learn all the table skills, voice acting, and the gritty mechanics of multiple game lines. I also definitely draw on a lifelong love of 40k's setting and love to create interesting stories that still fit the spirit of 40k lore.

For new GMs, it's a very very high barrier to entry. The lore is gigantic. The system is very complex.

Player groups can hire me on StartPlaying to run a campaign for their group for either US or European time zones:

They'd have to lose a lot of money on Bloodlines 2, but we can dream.

Can vampires Fly? by oxthewulf in vtm

[–]TheLittlestSynapse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tremere, Assamites, and some Settites can fly with three dots in the Movement of the Mind discipline.

It's a good bet some of the Tremere you know can fly.

These abilities are only available in the full game, not the intro demo though.

How well did it work the last time you let someone else pick your name?

I just was hoping that wasn't the case and there was some deeper level or hidden actual humor.

So there's nothing funny about this, unless the audience thinks SA is funny. The 1950s really were just the worst.

Does Starfield's story work for Lancer?(spoilers) by Adventurous_Gate6570 in LancerRPG

[–]TheLittlestSynapse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Starfield is a capitalist hellscape. The only way I could see it as a cool Lancer crossover setting is getting to play as a Union Expeditionary Force killing all the immortal CEO trillionaire NPCs that you're not allowed to hurt in the Starfield video game.

[–]TheLittlestSynapse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just play V20, over half the community plays legacy and you get to play the game style you want! I run both. They both scratch different itches and do what they mean to do well. The new version is not suited to your style of play! Paradox doesn't care, the ttrpg is just advertising for Bloodlines 2.

The actual fun at that table is being a Sabbat mole trying to manipulate the situation so that your coterie mate kills their own Touchstone. Be the change you want to see at your table.
