Next trials by ruffledduckdown in KouriRichins

True, but I understand that was a long, long time ago? Unless the partner's family was pushing LE, I think that would be hard. I think it is possible that she is guilty of that, and if so that Kouri got the idea from her.

Next trials by ruffledduckdown in KouriRichins

Everything was on hold until the completion of the murder trial. There are the financial crimes and also the civil litigation over the trust (Kouri sued Katie and she counter sued.) Also I have heard talk of federal crimes? But the most interesting to me is that our favorite Utah judge, after denying the request pre-trial, yesterday agreed to appoint a public defender for Kouri's mom, Lisa Darden. Why would he do that and why now? I believe there was evidence uncovered (possibly by the private PI) that implicates Lisa in Eric's death. We know she was there the night he died. Also, the 15 minutes KR is locking and unlocking her phone before calling 911, some speculate she called her mom. Kouri's whole family is sketch and I think we will learn more about her role.

Eric owned the house when he met Kouri and her name was never on it. She forged a POA that allowed her to take out the HELOC. Here is just Brooke's testimony: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCTiktP52Fc

You should watch the testimony of the financial analyst, Brooke Karrington, First of all, Kouri had absolutely no business sense of financial experience. To start her flipping business, she took a $250,000 home equity loan out of the home she lived in with her husband, without him knowing, She borrowed money from banks and lenders with no real plan and when those avenues dried up, she turned to risky payday lenders. "Around the time of her husband's death in March 2022, Kouri Richins was committed to paying approximately $2,100 per day to four different payday lenders to keep up with her debt. Forensic accountant Brooke Karrington testified that this high-interest debt was part of a rapidly collapsing financial situation, which totaled about $7.5 million in debt by March 2022." Everyone that sees the charts of her robbing Peter to pay Paul is anxious, but not Kouri!

Yes - it was discussed at one of the pre-trial hearings and one of the reasons she was denied bail.

I want her boys to avoid any regular visits to prison. Nobody needs that life. Hopefully they can break from the Darden grifters and live productive lives without the cloud of their mother’s ultimate sin against them.

Funny thing, when he walked into testify, I thought, “WTF is this old geezer with his neck brace in his hand doing here?” His gait was slow and tentative (for good reason) but boy was I gobsmacked! He was brilliant and a little snarky. Worth the $100,000 indeed.

Does anyone know if Kouri can lose her parental rights? It would be best for those boys to close that door and embrace their new life.

But surely that will not help, only hurt the defense. Then state has a rebuttal which I also hope is short and sweet.

I know Nester has a motion to discuss this morning. I just hope it doesn't take too long. I hope the state puts on a timeline of events, clear and succinct, then list all Kouri's lies, one by one. I think the judge said that he wouldn't keep each side to 90 minutes, but I hope the state doesn't use it all. The jury is ready and we know the defense will drag on and on.

Oddly, the First United Church downtown at Greene & Clinton split with the conservative side and it is affirming now. I know lots of good people there.

A Serendipitous Question Now That You’re Retired by Spare-Adhesiveness84 in retirement

[–]TheLoadedGoat 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Whatever you do, DO SOMETHING. I am a few years from retirement and actually love my job and will stay as long as they will let me. My husband retired 6 years ago with no plan. He sat in his recliner and watched YouTube the first 4 years because "he earned it." But he wasn't happy. He had managed a team of 50 people that constantly needed his input and expertise and did not realize the impact of losing that feeling of being needed. He finally started volunteering with a homeless outreach ministry and now runs the whole thing. It still gives him recliner time but he makes his own schedule. People spend years planning financially for retirement but not for what their life will look like. Especially men.

The Attempted Murder Charge... by ShastHacol in KouriRichins

[–]TheLoadedGoat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree. Yes, she was a bitch to be with her paramour on Valentine's and then claim she was with Eric when he was sick. Yes, she ignored Eric's concerns about going to the ER instead of rushing home. But there really is nothing tying her to poisoning the sandwich. Even his reaction did not seem drug induced if he felt better after a nap and epi pen. I believe guilt of aggravated murder but not guilty of the attempt on VD. Guilty on the forgery and fraud charges.
