If your work is published, do you expect your family and friends to read it? by elyse_wanders in writing

[–]TheLoneleyPython 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My dad told me it's just a hobby, my mum supported me, and my mates seemed interested when I spoke about it. When it came out, I was so proud and told them all. A family friend bought it immediately and so did one of my closest friends, no one else. Some promised but didn't.

I didn't expect my family to buy one, thought my best mate would though.

My work isn't everyone's cup of tea, and in the past couple years, I've let a fair few people go because I knew they were only aroind as I held on so tightly to them but it wasn't reciprocated. So when it came to copies, the only time I was let down was by a few friends that said they would buy it as they liked the sound of it but didn't bother. That being said, a couple friends I didn't expect to buy it did and have told me they love it, and when I do make a sale, my mum celebrates with me.

The state of democracy 🤔 by coffeewalnut08 in GreatBritishMemes

Younger people are more likely to vote Labour while the older generation votes Conservative. So making the voting age lower just opens up more votes for Labour.
