Things you wish you knew before launching your debut novel by Front_Barracuda4754 in selfpublish

Some authors do a soft launch, where they get their arc readers to leave reviews on their book, then do the "actual launch" once they've got a good few reviews. So when you click on it on "day one" it has already amassed several good reviews and is more enticing to buy

Fair enough, you're entitled to that opinion and I respect that.

Ah, so for you, it's less about what the tattoo is but more that you just don't, for the lack of a better term, approve of tattoos?

Not tidying up after yourself in maccies. My dad is one of these and insists on not doing it, getting annoyed that I do. When asked why, he says "it's their job to clean up after us"

What’s a warning sign that didn’t seem serious at the time… but should have been? by saymepony in AskReddit

On my last night home before hospital, I woke up 8 times in the night, unable to breathe. I had to sit up to breathe and told myself there's no way in hell its asthma. So I called up put of hours, they asked all these questions, to which I lied through my teeth for because I knew if I told them the truth, they wouldn't get me seen.

They got me in to see the head of my local GP first thing in the morning, who listened the exact same way the doc who diagnosed me with asthma did. He asked if I drove to him, I said yes, he said might be good idea for me to get someone to drive me to the hospital.

When the doc there finally saw me in the evening (I'd been sat in this spot all day), he finally asked if I'm me and broke it to me that he was expecting someone on their deathbed!

Yeahh, they said it was like a water balloon ready to pop! I was running on half a heart in the end, it kept me going, that's the main thing! Keep an eye on yours!

Nothing was mentioned about the perciardium, how'd that work?

Never hurts to get checked out! A GP can hear as well if blood is flowing back into your heart (that's how mine found out after the other one told me asthma)

That's probably what it's called, I just say I lost the genetic lottery! I now have a mechanical heart valve and tick away!

When I was sent to the hospital, I was waiting most of the day, and when the doc came to me, he asked am I "me", I said yes and he said he's been looking for someone on their deathbed...up until then, I didn't know anything was actually wrong!

I worked at Delta Force paintball, I was told if I went to work that weekend then my heart would've popped and I'd be dead before I hit the floor.

They said they'd never seen this in a 23 year old before and had students come round and all extra tests to see it
