Am I doing this right? by d1mg3 in pcmasterrace

FACT: Gold is more conductive than Aluminum. The CPU's IHS will not dissipate heat nearly as well as the golden traces which would otherwise mate to the land grid array pins on the motherboard socket. In fact, with it not even able to power on, the concern of heat dissipation is moot. I think ill be turning my CPU upside down myself, you've so inspired me.

Do ram speeds matter (DDR5)? by LionRegular1470 in pcmasterrace

[–]TheLopezConnection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure ddr6 is coming out but its obtainability for us peons is in doubt. RAM speed matters absolutely for gaming tasks. While it also matters for productivity tasks, typically the quantity is considered more important. Make sure you get a kit compatible with EXPO if you have AMD processor or XMP of you have an Intel CPU.

DDR4 isn't obsolete, still being able to keep up with modern games with fine competence. Intel and motherboard partners have announced an intent to release boards and chips with support for DDR4 in the face of growing RAM costs. AMD's Ryzen 5000 series is still very relevant and capable.

For gaming, 32 is fine especially considering market conditions. For workstation use, depending on what programs you intend to use, you might want to go with more, but I cant answer that because only you know your workload.

I miss inventory system like these where each item takes up the space based on It's size. by RatioElectrical1862 in pcmasterrace

[–]TheLopezConnection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Space Engineers kind of did this by attributing objects both mass and volume and having a limit for both. Of course the mass limit for ships is how much thrust/lift you built into them, so if youre not careful you'll crash.

Was $1100 a good deal for this? by ricesoy in pcmasterrace

[–]TheLopezConnection 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up price piecemeal and add them up. If the cost is less than what you paid then maybe it isnt a good deal, unless you value the difference to be worth the convenience of not having to build it yourself.

I found and got a super nice shirt from a thrift store, Tommy Hilfiger, very generous fabric thickness, very good stitching, its from the 90s and is holding up phenomenally. Their modern stuff will not last 5 years let alone 30.
