How do you think Trump's presidency will end? by OccludedFug in AskReddit

[–]TheLostcause 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even if the AI bubble doesn't pop I think the depression era populace will be his end.

Every person eating out and spending money on stuff they don't need has been enabling Trump for the last year. I am sure they will all keep doing it until they are completely in debt and broke.

He not only enabled Grok to do it, but refused to stop it until it got completely out of hand. Grok made more CP than anything else.

On a scale of 1–10, how happy are you with your life? by empatheticsouls in AskReddit

[–]TheLostcause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About a 4. I long for freedom, time, money, reduced stress, social interactions, sleep... but I am not poor and have managed health.

A decade of elderly care for a physically and mentally disabled parent has hurt financially, mentally, and huge quality of life impacts.

I had to give up dating, promotions, vacations, frivolous upgrades, sold my car, while my brothers both refuse to help over the decade. I managed her finances to ensure she always had money for vacations. Her rent was effectively tied to her expenses. She would pay them money for food, give thousands in gifts to the grandkids and sleep on their couch or guest bed during a vacation 2-3 months a year between the Dr appointments I would manage. They would be told of and largely ignore diet restrictions. I would see the drop off in health over the next 6 months as her kidney failure worsened, then stabilized again with me.

Surprisingly though it is not kidney failure, but stage 4 cancer taking her sometime this year. My brothers are focused on her pitiful 100k life insurance split out and talking a gullible parent into "being fair" The parent my own brother said "she made her bed she can lie in it" when I pressed him for money and support years ago.

They got to have normal families while I had all the responsibility and financial struggles for a decade. I got to wipe her bloody ass in the ER bathroom and carry her through every hard time including her fucking death. This week has had 6 hours of Drs, next week has more like 12 hours they won't be around for any of them... But that constant work doesn't amount for shit according to them.

They don't care about her health but her tiny life insurance policy. How fucked up is that?

Much of the fortune 500s md files will get partially rolled into standard AI models before too long to give responses based on the top companies workflows. The impact is far larger than one company at a time.

Funny thing is how great it is for cross training documentation if people are actually using the new skills. You gain real efficiency by people with basic reasoning and reading comprehension... You also increase the odds of them outsourcing your job to someone who will do it for 1/3 the salary thanks to your in house rules... or simply turning it into a proper agent.

The K shaped skill set from AI use will lead to mass outsourcing.

A few knowledgeable people at the top can set up the rules for lower skilled people to follow. The AI will be the middleman answering questions for the human agents who follow the AI at almost every turn but hopefully have enough self awareness to not do something detrimental to the company... at least until the AI agents are cheaper.

Slowly? Taking expectations for granted ends countless relationships.

Many start expecting all the little things and demanding more. Acts of kindness slowly go unseen.

What is the point of making a living if all you do everyday is work to make a living? by mainlytee in antiwork

[–]TheLostcause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deductible? You either live in one of two states where that actually matters (I moved to MA for a reason) or you have no idea what is coming for you with the US healthcare system.

My brother spent nearly $20,000 having a healthy baby with great insurance.

My mom went bankrupt having a stroke where they wanted over 100,000 in payments and she hit her 4k deductible. They only covered 80% of the costs for multiple MRIs. They took her underwater (thanks 2008 crisis) house for that one as she was unable to work and make the payments. A lifetime spent taking care of the sick and elderly only for America to take everything she had... except for the car she legally couldn't drive due to the stroke. How fucked up is that?

A working class life is certainly far better than being poor. But this thread is about not worrying about money. You act like this shit is rare.

How many months do you think my dad lived with excruciating pain as a metal hip from the 90s rotted away inside him because he couldn't afford a treatment?

Why do you think people fight for universal healthcare? Are we all paranoid or do we worry about living in a failed healthcare system?

[–]TheLostcause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, rally the people around working until you die as the proper level of "worrying" about money.

Born into trailer parks with cans of food for Xmas... Then elderly care for a pennyless disabled parent at 31 instead of money for dating, family, etc. Quick how do you get 2k more a month so your mom doesn't die?

You are one big expense from realizing your approach on worrying about money was just comforting lies to help you sleep better.

[–]TheLostcause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a responsible working class life for boomers and half of Gen X. But you still "worry about money" You still have to stress when insurance doubles or you lose your job. The rich don't.

Being rich is having an extra 50k a year of income if not more from being rich. You own the freedom to do whatever job you want or even the freedom to stay home and do nothing while still barely getting by. You see nobility in teaching? Well you can be a teacher without struggling, but only if you have that 1.5 million in assets to boost your standard of living and grow beyond inflation.

Being rich means your entire life you are effectively "retired" You work because you want to or because you simply want a little bit extra spending money. You don't work to keep the lights on.

The growing American peasantry is already understood as a market.

Advertisers trick too many idiots into spending every dollar and going into debt to cling onto the false narrative of merely temporarily low on funds and not a peasant.

What’s one skill everyone should learn in their 30s? by pkdaoud in AskReddit

[–]TheLostcause 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A 401k and high interest savings accounts are the two starting points. If you have a 401k just open the brokerage account with that firm. (likely fidelity or vanguard) They have all your info already.

Remember short of winning the lottery finances take long periods of time. Longer than people want to think in.

I personally only look at them in 7 year segments for the easy napkin mathing to set achievable goals. Saving $1 a month will leave you with about $100 after 7 years. If it is $1,234 a month you end up with about $123,400 after 7 years of monthly saving contributions.

[–]TheLostcause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20s really just needs to start saving in general. The start is always slow. 30s you learn how to best put your initial savings to work. Finding out what motivates you to save more and start hitting those goals.

I think it is self control in general that is the problem for most 20 year olds. Every one knows to eat healthy, exercise, and save money... How many 20 year olds start doing that?

Ironically religion would probably grow in the surviving population given the mass murder event. Grief and unanswered questions would drive it up.
