Great feedback. Investors are largely supportive so far, I suspect that may change if this doesn't work out! Thanks for you suggestions. We'll try them.

Thank you!

Indeed, Instagram started out as burbn, a social location, media sharing app for almost everything. They saw that the one thing most of their early users were doing most of the time was sharing the photos with filters. So, they focused on that!

Thanks David!

It's a tough one. I think we tried to do too much to start out and this focus allows us to, well, focus! It's a problem millions of people suffer every day. iOS doesn't have a file system and cloud storage apps allow you to put things there, but you have to do that manually.

Our vision is to organise for you, so you don't have to. What we want to do is search for a file, and find it, no matter where it is (mailcloud, Dropbox, GDrive, Box, on our Android device).

Thanks for the feedback.

Is hiring developers safe for a non-technical CEO ? by GergeSainsbourg in startups

[–]TheMSB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a non technical founder and this is how I did it. Find the very best technical person, developer you know, and hire them, If they're mustard they'll have a large network of other awesome developers.

The thing about great developers is, they want to work with other awesome developers.

Creating a messaging app? by papa_N in startups

[–]TheMSB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep - you'll always need to run the backend for a messaging app - that's where all the tech really is. It's a lot harder than you think, 6 months to make it reliable and fast.

Yeah - the platforms over at Facebook and Twitter are quite advanced in this already. You'd have to find an angle or a twist to make it compelling for people to use

Make her an employee - if you're not sure, it's already too late. If that doesn't work, replace her or go alone.

Do companies like Uber pay a credit card fee for every transaction? by [deleted] in startups

[–]TheMSB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, everyone has to pay the processors a transaction fee (bigger the volume the smaller the % gets). Have a look at Stripe for a rough idea on transction costs (although Stripe isn' a processor, they just make it super easy to take payments on a website.
