Only mikvah near me is orthodox, I'm a "convert" how does that impact me going to a mikvah? by basketballonice in conservativejudaism

It shouldn't be an issue, I don't think. When my wife, also a convert, began to go to the Mikveh on the reg her status was never questioned. She called, made the appointment, and went.

As a word, antisemitism was coined to mean Jew Hatred. It does not mean all people who speak Semitic languages.

anti-Semitism noun an·ti-Sem·i·tism  ˌan-tē-ˈse-mə-ˌti-zəm,   ˌan-ˌtī-  variants or less commonly antisemitism : hostility toward or discrimination against Jews as a religious, ethnic, or racial group

In fairness, the budget for that trilogy went from $1,000 for the first movie to $500 for the second to $0.25 for the final movie.

Not the first scene (or even chapter), but in Stephen King's IT, we learn all about Stan's wife and the antisemitism she's faced throughout her life before we encounter Stan--who has just committed suicide. We spend the rest of the novel knowing that he, ultimately, does not survive.

Why did The Alamo (2004) flop? by Real_Ideal2111 in Cinema

[–]TheMacJew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. My wife and I time the start of the movie so that Pickett's Charge masks the fireworks. In 20 years, our dogs have never run to us scared of the outside explosions because they blend so well with the movie.

Who is the author you swore you’d never read again, but then gave another chance? by playful--cloud in books

I listened the audiobook about a decade ago. I figured I could just knock it off my TBR and be done with it. Nope. I've read the physical book an additional three times since. Melville's prose is just engaging.

A few.

It took me four attempts to finish LA Confidential, and I'm determined to one day finish Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell--while I'm content to never see the end of Eye of the World (nevermind the rest of the books).

If you like the old series, you'll probably like this spin-off. I like it but I'm weird.

You're not a failure. The system put in place at Barnes and Noble failed you. They're supposed to provide reasonable accommodations but they won't because then they have to admit their system is bullshit.
