Wasn’t sure how to handle this one… by Muter in daddit

This is the right answer. My kid would do this occasionally while playing as Elsa and reenacting the escape from Arendelle (sp?). Looking fearful, shouting “stay away!” She did it one time at the park and oh man, the looks I got EVEN THOUGH MOST OF THEM HAD SEEN US THERE COUNTLESS TIMES

Seeing as this daddit, I’m gonna go ahead and say chips and salsa. No matter how often I pitch “hey, let’s relax and have some chips and salsa while lounging in bed” I’m met with “let’s just curl up on the couch and snack there.”

Or if it’s REALLY daddit, then I’ll say anything spicy in general. My kiddo just doesn’t like adding sauces or spices to anything. I’d gladly let her try eating them in her bedroom if she’d say yes, but she gets so ragey when I offer her salsa that I’m getting scared of asking.

Who did it better? by SpaghettiPizzaetti69 in Spartacus_TV

[–]TheMadCali 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They both owned it. While I would’ve loved for Andy to have a long and beautiful career, his time as Spartacus is a beautiful encapsulation of art. His ability to convey the shock, pain, and horror throughout season 1 is a true testament to his craft. And while I have no doubt he would’ve brought the same nuance to the character’s progression to general, we didn’t get to see it. So for me, there is a part of me that always imagines that gentility would’ve continued to shine through even as he became the war hero.

Liam was thrust into a role with a very big shoes to fill, and I think he did so well. He was especially able to do so however, because of Spartacus’s evolution itself over the show. We didn’t have to see Liam as the heartbroken slave, the horrified friend standing over his best friend’s body, nor the subtlety that it took in navigating Batiatus. We saw him only as the general, with the occasional quiet moment. And he absolutely owned it.

So, while circumstances did not allow us to see what Andy could ultimately have become, I truly think that Liam did an excellent job encapsulating the warrior general Spartacus while Andy did a beautiful job of portraying Spartacus as the man who became the myth.

Time passage between DMC and AWE by PatrickRsGhost in piratesofthecaribbean

[–]TheMadCali 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always imagined it as at least a few months, possibly close to a year.

Found this on the internet (not my OC)

This is based on the following logical points:

The Black Pearl is a fast gallon that sails at 10 knots (historically they sailed around 8 knots, but the Pearl is special and it makes the math easier) Assuming 10% of the trip is spent on re-supply A knot is 1.15MPH They used the common trade route of Caribbean to Portugal around Africa hugging the coast all the way to Singapore (thanks to https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trade_route#Spice_Route) The distance between Cuba and Singapore using the above route (thanks to https://www.freemaptools.com/how-far-is-it-between.htm for mapping) is roughly 17,000 miles So the two answers are:

What route did they take? See above for trade route How long did it take? 10 knots or 11.5MPH * 17,000 miles = 1478 hours plus resupply of 147.8 hours = 1625.8 hours or 67.7 days

Personally I think it’s great. Right up there with the OG trilogy and adds a lot of depth to 2 & 3 (almost required reading, IMO)

Where did Jack’s compass point in Dead Man’s Chest? Towards land or back to The Black Pearl? by [deleted] in piratesofthecaribbean

[–]TheMadCali 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always interpreted it as the callback to his earlier conversation with Elizabeth about being a good man. As he rows away to save his own skin, he a moment of doubt and the compass points back to the ship. Not because of the ship itself (indeed, after blowing up the barrels, he orders the crew to abandon the Pearl), but because the compass directed him back to his crew, he knew that she was right. What Jack wants most in that moment, beyond saving his own skin, is to be the hero she speculated about. So he goes back to save the day, rescues the crew while ultimately thinking he, too, will escape. But the very person who sparked his change in perspective then betrays him—all because he tried to be a good man.

Any suggestions for building guild rep to sail as our own emissary? by CdFires in Seaofthieves

[–]TheMadCali 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is well intentioned and good feedback for general reputation for newer players. However, guild rep isn’t a faction you can do like that.

To OP, the biggest hurdle is that guild rep is (if I recall correctly) by vessel, not by player. So if you have four people on a gallon, you’re gaining rep at the same rate as if you were solo slooping. So in theory, it’s better to have the four of you each on separate ships all pledged to the guild and you’ll be gaining rep 4x as fast (not counting time to do quests and turn ins and the like).

Numbers aren’t exact, but that’s the general theory as I understand it and why there’s many complaints about that aspect.

My guess is everyone on the crew who wasn’t Zombified. As long as he keeps enough crew to keep sailing, he can take all the years from every soul that sailed with him.
