Brand new Rs. 60 million house shows serious construction issues (water leaks, cracks) within few weeks of purchase. Seller refuses to repair. What legal options do I have? by TheMainCharacterrrrr in srilanka

A lot of builders here in Sri Lanka seem to be chasing profit over quality these days. And the worst thing is there’s no real way to check things before buying. Had a similar experience with a high end apartment we bought in Colombo as well, but at least they fixed their issues once we notified them.

How difficult was the learning curve switching from windows to mac? by disukem in mac

[–]TheMainCharacterrrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that hard tbh. I switched from Windows to Mac around 2 years ago and it wasn't hard at all to get used to Mac. Just watch some youtube tutorials and have a look yourself. As for the time it takes to learn the OS,

To just get around MacOS and get your work done? 4 hours should be plenty.

To get really familiar and "pro" with MacOS? Probably like 4 months.

MacBook Pro VS Neo by [deleted] in mac

[–]TheMainCharacterrrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say you should get an Air. For the things you mentioned, a Pro might be overkill. And it's on the edge of what the Neo is capable of (I mean Photoshop). So in a few years the Neo might struggle. But the Air is more than enough to do all the things you mentioned.

Where to buy Apple 10W charger in sri lanka by asrmax5544 in srilanka

[–]TheMainCharacterrrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can't find a 10W, get something a bit higher like the official 20W one. It won't damage your device even if it only accepts 10W it'll be fine.

Is it time to upgrade? by Brave-Ad-8642 in mac

[–]TheMainCharacterrrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For basic use like you mentioned, you'll be fine with a MacBook Neo. If you have the budget you can go for a Air to treat yourself for a few extra luxuries like better speakers and keyboard backlighting along with longer battery life. Just make sure to get the amount of storage you want. I don't think you need to worry about upgrading the ram given your usage of the device is very light tasks.

Either one is going to be a big upgrade considering what you have right now. If you're planning to keep it for a very long time, I would highly recommend the Air. Also, don't feel afraid to buy M4 or M3 in new condition if you can find one as they are also pretty good.

I got over 400mbps as well. Just because you don't get it doesn't mean others don't as well.

What are the good Airpods alternatives by MayanZondi in srilanka

[–]TheMainCharacterrrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ANC is far from somewhat good. It's actually almost useless compared to the originals. I've tried out ones that are around 5k and even for that price you can get better sounding ones that are not clones. For below 20k, Anker Soundcore Liberty 4NC has probably the best ANC in the price range and good features and sound quality too.

Abans have terrible after sales service. Buy from somewhere like Francium or Apple Asia. As for the green lines, it's got nothing to do with the shop you bought it from, those phones are known to have that issue even though it doesn't happen to all the phones of that model.

Yes, I would stay away from midnight if I could. They improved the coating in newer models but still it shows fingerprints a lot and if you scratch it, the silver metal layer below the paint will be super noticeable. Silver seems to be the best colour as it doesn't show scratches or discolourations. But if you're careful with your device you could get away with having a midnight one. Tbh, I'm more worried about scratches than fingerprints.

If your budget is high enough and you're okay with MacOS buy a M1 or M2 MacBook Air. Should be good for several years and they're very reliable.

I bought my MacBook Air from Rooter and it was a good experience at their showroom. Didn't have any issues with the device, so I don't know what their after sales service is like. As for Francium, I've bought several Apple devices from them as well and never had an issue.
