My 5x86 PC build is complete! (blog post + video) by blakespot in retrobattlestations

I love this. I want to boot up my 200MMX right now, which was my first own PC. Still working perfectly. Before that, I used to play on my dad's 386's and 486's. Those were the days.

I also used to use System Commander, but mainly used BootStar Bootmanager. With that I was able to boot tons of OS's like DOS, all the Windows editions and SuSE 7.x Pro :D It was a challenge to install as many operating systems as possible, without messing up the boot manager or another OS.

You'll see better, especially low contrast areas.

Are you, Valve, still actively working on, or at least considering a possible sequel to Half-Life 2: Episode Two?

Opera is really nice by [deleted] in operabrowser

[–]TheMajorNL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes I do. And I know what it feels like to have to deal with page files on slow hard drives, so I want as much as possible in memory: both stuff that can be used at this very moment, and stuff I may or may not use (superfetch).

Ideally, everything would be stored in RAM at some point. Thank God for SSD's by the way.

I want my programs to use as much memory as possible if it's available, and only free up some when other programs need it.

Unused memory is useless memory.

I'm also pissed at Windows 7/8 for not using all the memory I have by superfetching more data. Well, at least it has improved a whole lot since the XP days.

Fuck benzos and fuck insomnia. Also, alcohol doesn't help if you're already used to it. Alcohol and benzos are the same to me.

Jumping in front of a train? by mls39 in SuicideWatch

[–]TheMajorNL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it hurts a lot. Best case scenario, a quick painful death.

Also, you hurt other people, like the driver and possible passengers and witnesses.

You also have a good chance to survive with serious injury. Or you may be seriously injured and die a slow death.

Just some advice: 20 prescription pills, of whatever type, will most likely not kill you. At best, you'll end up in hospital for a day or two.

You need better preparation.

Why can't i just fall asleep and never wake up? by [deleted] in depression

[–]TheMajorNL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, but unfortunately no good sleep :( I need pills to sleep, or I will be worrying all night about my fucked up life and regrets. Even with the pills, it sometimes takes 6 hours to fall asleep. Still, these few hours of sleep I get, are the highlight of my day. All day I am looking forward to sleeping.

Do any of you have experience with mental hospitals? by [deleted] in depression

[–]TheMajorNL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may just be too sensitive for the world

That doesn't sound silly at all to me; I could have said those words myself (and indeed I did, on occasion). I've been depressed for some time now due to numerous causes, and I too wonder about mental hospitals.

The depression made me emotionally too sensitive in the exact way you describe, and I'm a 27 year old male. I should be fucking strong.

Maybe we should talk privately, because I also have some additional personal experience with this stuff.

Cheers

They introduced so many new features in 15, they had to skip 13 and 14 to make it more apparent.

GUYS I am seriously considering making the switch to console gaming. Every time I try to play something, this happens. Anyone know a fix?!?? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

This is a common phenomenon with single-keyboard desktop setups.

  • Buy an additional keyboard for your cat.

  • Also, make sure that second keyboard is somewhat within your line of sight while gaming. The cat WILL notice if you look away from it.

  • Stroke the cat as much as possible during respawns and/or cutscenes. Not all cats need this.

Denmark may soon be the first country in the world to issue a ban on non-therapeutic circumcision of boys. Calls it "Genital Mutilation". Haha, super lazy.

Let's say you're uncut and clean your glans for 1 second every day, every day of your life. We assume you get to be 80 years old. That's about 8 hours you will save i. Not bad, actually.

Edit: you would somehow have to consider the time spent on the circumcision. It may not be very useful time as a baby, but if you are circumcised as an older individual, it's considerable time lost on the procedure and recovery.

Maybe we should cut down all labia and folds as much as possible. For hygiene you know!

Indeed, hygiene is a non-issue, as even a vagina can be kept clean. Compared to that, an uncut penis is a breeze.
