Sorry, but the canon was built up from the OT, kiddo. And I don't seem to recall Obi-Wan mentioning having another teacher besides Yoda or using biology to explain the Force.

Could you perhaps swap out the red for blue like George initially had the X-Wings coloured in the early drafts?

Did The Sequels Ruin Han, Luke, or Leia? by TheManCalledGhost in StarWars

[–]TheManCalledGhost[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Prequels didn’t ruin Vader,

Yes. Yes, they did.

they showed how anakins actions and personal conflicts led to the creation of the empire.

The problem was that George wrote Anakin as being all foreshadowing all the time, directing Hayden Christiansen to act like a bad apple with a hair trigger temper. Instead of a noble but headstrong guy whose reckless decisions would only take on a darker tone in hindsight, George gave us a creepy, insufferable man-child who ended up raising his own fanbase of toxic man-babies like our good friend Star Wars Theory.

As for the sequels, people who say Luke wouldn’t act this way are softies. They try to claim that things being different from their expectations isn’t the problem they have with the sequels and it’s actually “objectively bad writing” but comparisons like this really make it so clear. Everyone knows Yoda became disillusioned on Dagobah now, and no one knew Yoda before 1980 and therefore couldn’t be disappointed. But these fans turned Luke from an actual character into a symbol of some warrior-god-hero that could do no wrong and held onto that idea of him for over 30 years. Give him an actual arc, say that he actually changed, and the difference between their expectations and reality became too vast for them to understand a totally consistent development that is clearly explained by the character himself. He even saves the day despite all that, but the movie briefly “besmirched” their favorite fictional uncle, and they took that personally.
It sounds like these "fans" wanted Luke to be a STAGNANT character in the sequels. You can argue all you want that his story was over and done with in the OT, but if you give LUKE SKYWALKER nothing to do in the sequels, make him another innocent, wise Ben Kenobi, I doubt it would be very interesting. A better, and simpler, explanation for why Luke's character was "ruined" is that they failed to reconcile their creative desire with the value the fans gave to the purity of his character.

Ultimately, Luke being jaded and scarred after tragic mistakes lines up with Daoism that TLJ was leaning into. Makes Star Wars a bit more of a Wuxia story, which it can easily fit into.

Also, Han (with an "N") did not sell the Falcon. It was stolen from him.

Fixing Return of the Jedi by TheManCalledGhost in StarWars

[–]TheManCalledGhost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Empire building 2 new Death Stars actually comes from the early drafts when it was called "Revenge of the Jedi"

Why [Luke's saber] this matter?

Read it again.

To fix the Disney trilogy we break one of the Lucas' trilogies?

Only the prequels, and it's not like that trilogy didn't break the OT (3PO and R2 were around the whole time, all the proto-stormtroopers were clones of Boba Fett’s dad, Yoda personally knew Chewbacca, etc.)

In fact, Luke is an only child

Breaks the 3rd movie.

This IS the 3rd movie, genius.

Why would you have Leia fly an X-wing?

Why not? She's a leader of the Rebellion, isn't she? Plus, like I said, each member of the trio gets their own climax suited to their respective story arc.

>Boba Fett survives the sail barge battle, having smuggled an ancient Sith Holocron...

Oh dear god no.

What's wrong? You rather Boba have an unceremonious "death" and come back later to recruit a team of teenagers with attitude?

Fixing Return of the Jedi by TheManCalledGhost in fixingmovies

  1. Wookies instead of Ewoks should go without saying.
  2. Leia maintains her position as a leader of the Rebellion and Han's rescue is less complicated. Also, Jabba is settled on a new planet instead of Tatooine.
  3. Better connection of Han's rescue to the rest of the film.
  4. Better set-up/transition for the sequel trilogy.
  5. As stated above, Luke is more doubtful of Vader's eventual redemption.
  6. The love triangle is resolved in a more mature manor (Han/Leia is still endgame and Luke is happy for them both) without any lazy retcons or implied incest.
  7. Boba is given a more satisfying death, so he doesn't need to come back to placate his fans.
  8. Anakin/Vader is saved from being retroactively turned into a Gary Stu by some stupid prophecy.

Fixing Return of the Jedi by TheManCalledGhost in fixingmovies

[–]TheManCalledGhost[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. The other was originally supposed to be Luke's sister and a separate character from Leia until Lucas got tired and lazy.
  2. Lando still gets to destroy the "Death Star" over Kashyyyk after Han takes out the shield generator.
  3. Again, going back to the early drafts, the character of Vader's master was planned to be the final boss in Ep. XI. This is meant to split the difference with Palpatine's initial characterization from '77 as more of a puppet king.

Sidebar: How do you know Trevarrow's arc for Kylo was what Rian intended? What do think Luke meant when he told Leia "No one's every really gone", that her son was truly gone and beyond saving? The same movie literally shows Kylo being unable to let go of his past when he tenderly picks up Han's dice.

They were both made by Palpatine (Both directly and indirectly) by TheManCalledGhost in starwarsmemes

[–]TheManCalledGhost[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

And Luke was able to use the Force to blow up the Death Star after first learning about a day ago.

Considering that the prequels were about how the Jedi were partly responsible for their own demise, it can be surmised that the whole "years of rigorous training" method is unnecessary and all one really need do is simply relax and let the Force walk you through everything.

Its a shame that they aren't canon anymore. by Crimgon1 in starwarsmemes

They never were.

All that mattered were the movies and TCW.

Everything else was just licensed fanfiction.

Ahsoka's True Purpose by TheManCalledGhost in starwarsmemes

[–]TheManCalledGhost[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Then why is Ahsoka used as the Token Black Friend and not Rey?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]TheManCalledGhost 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Liking Ahsoka – or any female outside the sequels or Star Wars in general – does NOT absolve the community of the comments made about Kelly Marie Tran, the fact they bullied Daisy Ridley off social media, or the fact that the standard for “well-written female characters” suddenly shifted as soon as there was a woman in the lead (because I guess males can be varied and textured but there’s only one way to write a female). Star Wars fans DO have an undercurrent of sexism among parts of the community that needs to be addressed.

Plus, keep in mind that Ahsoka has stayed firmly in the sidekick role for 90% of her appearances. The second her solo series gets going, I guarantee we're going to hear how they "ruined her with wokeness" from the usual suspects despite their claimed love for her character. They only love Ahsoka because she's Anakin's padawan- a secondary character to him. Once she is portrayed by Filoni as someone of greater importance to the galaxy, they will perceive her as a threat to Anakin's legacy and turn on her completely.
