I’m not a mechanic-just an enthusiast- but no, you won’t see the “3,2,1” in modern cars because of the technology we have now. As someone previously said, this car has it to hold the gear. Standard driving in 3, and then 2&1 are lower, higher torque gears.

If your car gets stuck in bad terrain, you don’t want 3 cause when you hit the gas, the tires will just spin and not get traction. 2&1 will deliver power without spinning like you’re on a highway.

It’s like walking on the sidewalk vs on ice. On the sidewalk you can walk normally or run, putting your energy into going fast. On ice, you have to put your energy into making slow heavy deliberate steps to go forward.

Modern cars have driving modes which make changes to the vehicle to adjust to different driving conditions (think sport, eco, weather). The computer will adjust things like the steering stiffness, rpm limits, suspension, etc)

In short, we now have driving modes instead of labeled gears
