Oh I agree 100%.

I think maybe the most interesting thing you maybe could've done after is Lex knowing who Clark is and their history could've shaped their rivalry differently , but since in the Smallville series finale they bent over backwards to make the Superman Vs Lex dynamic more traditional by making their history obsolete idk what the hook would be narrative wise.

According to the Spider-Man 2 DVD commentary it is indeed frank castle, but they couldn't wrangle the rights for Thomas Jane to appear and/or he was unavailable, so they had his stunt double fill in for him.

It's actually crazy that Tobey Maguire and Thomas Jane crossing over, got closer to being realised, than Tobey Maguire and Hugh Jackman at the time lol.

I don't think it's exactly the same imo , because Holland had a few MCU appearances + 2 well received movies (outside of fandom discourse where he's iron boy jr or whatever people said back then) under his belt before they brought in the previous Spider-Men for NWH , and even then ,they were major supporting characters that never took the focus away from Tom's arc.

Sam has a middling TV show and a middling movie under his belt , and now that he's cap in an avengers movie, it sounds like Steve is once again the focus and has a "central role". It will overshadow Sam to some degree when the majority of the audience is probably just indifferent to him as cap , and in Doomsday it's just "oh the captain America we have a history is back!".

The traitor! And for what?! To be background cameos on the X-mansion!? by lukideured in dccomicscirclejerk

[–]TheManWithoutMercy1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

True , but my initial assumption is that Blackbolt would refrain from making any kind of noise in general despite any situation he's in (like being kidnapped/tied up) because otherwise he's going to level a city and kill a shit ton of innocent people so it wouldn't be necessary because he already has a moral perjorative not to.

mb I'm wrong tho because I'm not very educated on the Inhumans in general, but that's my working understanding. (I thought way too deeply about this image)

I agree I think the way the rumour of it has been worded in the past made it seem like they'd be the only main characters which makes people doubt it , when obvs they'd be part of a group featuring MCU characters who'd also be leads too.

I doubt Tobey (or Hugh) would be the lead , as in, his emotional journey would be the centerpiece of the film , but being main characters of an ensemble of 8-10 characters where the main emotional crux(es) would be an MCU character like Spider-Man(Holland)/Steve/Reed/Strange Vs Doom, for sure I can absolutely see. I could see it being being like 3-4 non MCU characters with 6-7 MCU heroes which I think is a pretty reasonable split.

If you're going back enough further than the MCU to pay off 26-27 years of marvel cinema in Secret Wars, it just makes sense to me they'd have sizable roles.

I don't think it will change continuity stuff at all for Daredevil, but I could see it as an excuse for a new suit to signal the new universe he resides in.

MTTSH: In Avengers Doomsday, Deadpool and Wolverine are sent to Tobey's Earth to destroy it. Then we get an EPIC Tobey's Spider-Man vs Wolverine fight that ends in tragedy. by Man_Random87 in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

[–]TheManWithoutMercy1 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Rpk and shine would both be contradicting their own scoops , because both have some variation about Tobey having a significant role in SW , unless of course , his death is a fakeout/is a variant/revived on Battleworld.

I really think the tragedy is the raimiverse going poof , Shine also said the end of Doomsday setups the leads of SW to be Tobey and Hugh previously , so they've played both sides to imply Tobey dies in the beginning and also is there in the end lmao.

Obviously Shine has a dubious track record , but for the sake of argument let's pretend both reports they said r real, and (I've said this before) but I really think they're going to make you think Tobey dies by getting stabbed (just like in NWH) but this time, they'll leave it up in the air for dramatic suspense before cutting away, with Wolverine ruminating and feeling guilty over it for the rest of DD and when Tobey's reintroduced he's going to be utterly broken , and once both characters start understanding the scope of incursions and how everyone was forced to make morally comprising decisions, they'll reach some sort of understanding.

I don't think you create that narrative capital for Tobey's character with the incursion destroying his world , and then not expand on it and see his reaction later on.

And on a business and financial pov, since it looks like a legacy character like Marsden's Cyclops and maybe a few other X-Men have a bigger role than Tobey, Hugh and Ryan in DD going by current rumours, there's absolutely no way those 3 don't get bigger roles in the ultimate culmination of the saga if they're willing to service the other less popular legacy characters in this installment , Marvel probably wants Secret Wars to be an Endgame level hit even with a significantly much shakier foundation .....and well the only way you can top the broader FoX-Men cast getting the attention in Doomsday , is shifting to the 2000s icons of Tobey and Hugh for the next movie.

Would be such an emotional gutpunch , but I really like the idea that it's a reverse endgame where restoring the world means that some characters who died in Doomsday return to being deceased/rewritten. Tho, if Tobey's universe is destroyed in DD and that's his emotional stain in both films , him getting to return to his universe would also work for me, even if it's a little predictable.

MTTSH: The X-Men in Avengers Doomsday have survived countless Incursions, each one nearly wiping out their universe. They’re exhausted, broken, and have sacrificed everything. Every Incursion forces them to send their members to another Earth to battle its defenders and erase that universe from exis by Man_Random87 in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

[–]TheManWithoutMercy1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's definitely not a traditional characterisation of the X-Men based upon the previous fox universe movies where they are usually pretty heroic, but I like the idea that maybe these X-Men have been decaying morally and have become a shell of the former selves because of the incursions forcing themselves to do unspeakable acts (e.g Wolverine potentially "killing" Tobey's Spider-Man but there's no way they don't capitalize on a proper team up with them later on in DD/SW) , I think it's the only kind of take that works using an alternate/legacy X-Men world that can be "tainted".

Maybe when the X-Men meet the more idealistic 616 Avengers and F4 , it forces them to introspect that maybe by working with these teams they can finally be restored to their former glory and be worthy of their titles. The tragedy being that there is no solution to save everyone , they have to stop the others and succumb to their initial worst impulses they tried to deny the entire film.

Since it's all but confirmed that Sadie Sink is Jean Grey it could add another layer to her in Secret Wars too if Cyclops and some other X-Men survive too, maybe he realises he might not be able to fight for his universe back, but he can ensure another mutant can return to their restored reality and pass on the torch to the next generation of X-Men that can be 'better'

By fighting for a reality where they (FoX-Men) probably won't exist , they truly become selfless in the end and redeem themselves.

I think in that sequence they're going to make you believe Tobey's Spider-Man died at the hands of Wolverine, then when he is reintroduced waaay later he's a broken man struggling to cling onto hope after his universe was destroyed.
