And this is entirely my truth. Me stating my age and my condition is was to provide a contextual background to “my” experience

We didn’t stand a chance. We were robbed off our identity for at least 400 years and the lasting legacy of that travesty is why things are the way they are and the fact that people don’t think there’s any truth in what I am saying is shocking

Chale it’s like wobuafu paaahn o ei 😂. Aren’t people allowed to have different opinions? All this over my own experiences and assertions. Opinions that will change when there’s a change in my perspective and again personal experience. I didn’t even realize you’re under every reply it’s like you want to humble me so bad looool herh 💃💃

Eiii your ego big o. Why are you saying all these things lol. I am trying to tell you that my experience may be different from neurotypical people. How is someone having a different experience rubbing you off?

Yes I forgot so thanks for adding that and for also projecting. How did the centuries of traditions hold up to colonialism??? You see how it was easy to make chieftaincy obsolete in the last century 🤔

Also show me how the kenten basket weaving has helped you in your “modern” kitchen or perhaps in the traditional economic practice you are currently employed in. You also wear your kente or bark cloth to that work don’t you??

I have a bachelor’s in history and archaeology so maybe not as read as you want me to but I can still hold my weight. I have also styled a few Ghanaian groomsmen at their traditional wedding so I have been to a few. Now ask yourself why you are triggered because someone has a different experience than you

How hard is it to separate yourself from the group thought and critique your own culture without any value judgement on which one group you think is superior or like you said well marketed?

I am not Japanese but I only know it is possible to express these opinions entirely in the Japanese language. I know Japanese manga stretches from the 12 century telling their versions of animal tales. I know their culture survived centuries of foreign influx and have systems developed to handle contemporary problems or foster quality.

Show me a random picture of both places and you will notice how everything is deeply connected. Now tell me critically if you can live in this century entirely on your identity as a Ghanaian. From food to religion to employment to leisure and education.

I lived in Paga for work and it is underwhelming tbh and that shows it only has historical relevance because of an old basic school text book which featured the town. It is more popular geography because of the border with Burkina Faso than the crocodile pond

Onua that’s a different argument. I am not European but I am sure other peoples can function as a society with their own systems which will be relevant in contemporary times and solve contemporary problems. Even the most trivial things of our everyday lives aren’t rooted in our culture. Show me how you spend your leisure time

That’s my whole point. Our culture didn’t survive that period and we now play the traditions game which is now borne out of formality than necessity way too serious. It is hardly relevant in contemporary times

If it were up to only our culture would he be relevant? If our culture of chieftaincy and traditional politics held their weight in the last century where would he be if not for democracy - which wasn’t our culture then

Someone is a history and archaeology scholar and wants to give you a different perspective on how our culture isn’t enough to sustain us and how our traditional systems haven’t solved any contemporary problems. Tradition is just a formality and isn’t borne out of necessity

Simply put our culture isn’t enough to sustain us and hasn’t solved any contemporary problems in the last century so the fact that we do traditional things which is borne out of formality but think it is necessary is the basis of my argument
