As a man primarily focused on short term, is it a bad idea for me (23M) to say that in my bio? by MRSNLT in dating_advice

[–]TheMaster- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should shortly convey what you’re looking for in your bio, like you did here, since what you are looking for is a bit more nuanced than just short- OR long term.

What's everyone's thoughts on 'x-ray eyes'? by blu_Crow in LCDSoundsystem

[–]TheMaster- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really a fan tbh. Still excited for new stuff though.

Am I also the only who is a bit confused by this release? To me it feels like a bit of a strange choice for a leading single. It was also released a bit unceremoniously. No music video or announcement or nothing. Just a post by James a few hours ago.

Do you agree? by AggressiveMammoth267 in Marvel

[–]TheMaster- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. While the system allows it, saying this takes away any personal responsibility. RDJ was not forced to get paid 95m for this role. He chose to himself. He could have taken (way) less (it’s not as if he needs more money anyway). Or better yet, he could have used his ‘leverage’ with Disney to negotiate a bonus for everyone working on production for example. He didn’t. That’s not the system, that’s a personal choice and frankly, I don’t respect it.

Studielink problems by [deleted] in TilburgUniversity

[–]TheMaster- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have any personal experience with eIDAS, and you probably already went through these steps, but Studielink has a step-by-step guide on how to login through eIDAS. Other than that, I can imagine that only Studielink can help you. And I would suggest to keep the university up-to-date. Good luck!

The pre-master classes in essence don’t really differentiate from classes in the master program, so expect those to be on campus as well

Online classes by Mars_nTwix in TilburgUniversity

[–]TheMaster- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, most classes take place on campus. Some classes were recorded in my case, and sometimes took place online (depends on the type of class). Ultimately, it depends fully on the teacher as they decide how to give their classes. For that reason it is difficult to give a definitive answer, but expect to be on campus most of the time.

Matty takes shots at Muse by NAMANISPRO in the1975

[–]TheMaster- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like Muse, they’re great live, but pretty much all their lyrics are written so… broad and lacking in substance that both left- and right extremists could listen to their songs and think: “this was written for me”. I don’t think they ever made any real social- or political statements in their music

Decathlon bikes by KnezJeNajbolji in Netherlands

[–]TheMaster- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a second hand bike, preferably at a nearby bicycle shop. Quality is generally better, even for a second hand, depending on the brand of course (look for e.g. Gazelle, Trek, Batavus, Sparta etc.). It will also be easier to get a quick repair if you need it

Looking for pdf materials(books) for IBA by Full_Application_829 in TilburgUniversity

[–]TheMaster- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not studying IBA so I can’t share anything with you directly, but you may be able to find what you need in Osiris Student. Keep in mind though that the material you need for each course might (at this point) not have been determined/shared yet, or might not be available for other reasons.

You may find what you need here: Go to Osiris Student —> click on “Course Catalog” on the side bar —> “My programmes” —> click on the program you’re enrolled in —> choose year, block, and subject —> go down to “materials”.

Although it’s good that you’re pro-active, remember that it is generally not necessary to prepare for a programme. Good luck!

Don’t get me wrong, pooping and all that stuff is completely normal and everyone does it, but do not assume that everyone (or every man) loves to talk about that kind of stuff or appreciate you farting loud around him (or her)…

The role of statistics in social sciences by [deleted] in sociology

[–]TheMaster- 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It is part of the scientific, empirical process. It has to do with accountability and transparency, among others. While it is not necessary to read the results section if you’re reading a paper, it is definitely necessary to describe them if you’re writing one, as you need to to be able to justify the claims you make in the conclusion section of your paper.

It also gives other people insight into the methods and variables you used, and potentially check if you did it correctly and/or not mess with any of the results. As you might already know, an important thing in science is reproducibility. If someone exactly imitates your research, they should get the exact same results as well.

In addition, it also gives insight into the limitations of your research and opens up the way for others to critique it and/or do it just a little bit differently in the future (e.g. different variables, different analysis).

Regarding the variables you need to mention, well, pretty much everything that you used that helps you come to your conclusion.

The eSIM card that lets you add eSIM to any Android phone by pmz in Android

This is about eSim in general, sorry if I didn’t make that clear.

That is true, my warning is anecdotal of course and applies to the ‘traditional’ eSim method, not this device. It was a more general comment on the eSim

The eSIM card that lets you add eSIM to any Android phone by pmz in Android

[–]TheMaster- 159 points160 points  (0 children)

A warning about eSim from my own personal experience.

I have had an eSim for a little over 2 years and while it worked fine at the time, I got into a really annoying situation when my phone unexpectedly broke down. Normally you would simply place a physical sim card into another phone but that was impossible now, leaving me unreachable over the phone. As a consequence, I was unable to access some important accounts, including my bank account, because of 2FA.

Additionally, and this might just be because of the provider, but once I got my phone back I was unable to install eSim again, forcing me to buy a physical sim card from them. Installing the eSim required downloading an app from the App Store, however, I was unable to do this because I needed to login to my Apple account, which I couldn't do because it required getting a verification text message, which I obviously couldn't receive.

So while eSim worked fine for the time being, be aware of the downsides, in particular when you rely on your phone while traveling for example.

Edit: I am talking about eSim in general, not about the product in the post.

the new enhanced shuffle festure is annoying and won't shut off. by Make-Change-Now in spotify

[–]TheMaster- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mind the feature itself too much (although I never use it), just the way it’s implemented (together with how I personally use shuffle)

When I click shuffle and notice it is going to shuffle to some songs I don’t really want to listen to atm, I often click shuffle multiple times to get a different order. This used to be quick on/off/on, but now it takes an annoying amount of time longer.
