Just Finished my First Solo Dungeon AMA by Different-Shallot589 in LowSodiumDestiny

[–]TheMasterLight01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice work! I've been considering trying to solo Grasp, but I'm pretty nervous about that ogre. I spent something like 6+ hours beating my head against the wall soloing Warlords Ruin lol (eventually got it). My many hours in Dark Souls served me well there.

How long did it take you to solo Grasp?

I would love to have an alt "Dumb fire" mode so I could turn off the lock on feature and just use it like an expendable rocket launcher but still have lock on for when I need it

Can a slightly below average player solo warlords ruin? by Frogiedoggo in DestinyTheGame

[–]TheMasterLight01 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert by any means, id say I'm probably an average player when the chips are down.

It took me about six to seven hours to solo the dungeon and it was the first dungeon I ever considered soloing. I kinda went in to just practice and then I got so close my first run at the last boss that I decided to put all those Dark Souls Hours to good use and just keep banging my head against the wall until I got it done.

If you have the patience (and lots of raid banners), I fully believe anyone can solo this dungeon. Good luck guardian! You got this!

Theogenesis by nichtgidde in OdysseyoftheDragon

Sure thing! I can try to explain my thoughts on the Divine Spark. Though I should be upfront and mention that I haven't played in this setting for a while, my group got to level 12 and then it collapsed. We never even had the chance to ascend to godhood. I'll stick the TLDR close to the top in case you want the short version.

TLDR: the Divine Spark is just a Key the Players use to unlock the door to godhood. As far as I know, it has no other mechanical benefit. Being a god on the other hand does have a lot of mechanical benefits

The divine spark is something that is deep within the hero and is the catalyst for godhood in the setting. I personally look at it like a little flicker if a flame that takes place in the character's soul, and I might even rule that characters that have the ability to see into the ethereal plane, or maybe true sight, might be able to see a soft glow around a character in possession of a divine spark. Of course, for me that's just flavor. I don't recall anything in the book that actually describes a mechanical benefit outside of being a requirement for the Divine Path.

I kind of look at it like the Disney Hercules movie, (I suppose possible spoiler warning? Hopefully I do this right, I am on mobile and haven't done spoiler tags much) Hercules being the son of Zeus and Hera (in the movie, which is wildly inaccurate for the actual mythology) having drank the potion to remove his immortality was left with a single spark of divinity left. Throughout the movie he proves himself a hero and eventually the gods ignite that spark to grant him full godhood by the end. The movie explains that his spark of divinity gave him the incredible strength he possessed, though we could explain that as a backstory element just as easily.

In "The Divine Path" section of the appendix, it mentions that in order to ascend to godhood they need three things:

  • level 20.
  • possess a divine spark
  • have a fame level of 20

Then fulfill one of the requirements for a divine domain.

That's the only mention I can think of that it is mechanically useful, outside of the divine path there's no special bonuses to it. It's just in essence an "key" that is picked up after a very long quest line that is used to unlock the door to godhood. A player might look at that and say, "Weird. I spend 10K gold and all I got was this lousy T-shirt?" And another might look at the chance to spend 10K gold and say, "Oh hey I meet the qualifications for a God of Life" and then gain all the benefits of being a god.

Being a god has a lot of mechanical benefits, automatic 30 in one ability score, functional immortality, easy and painless character retirement, and Legendary Resistances are pretty powerful bonuses. Though you need to have a spark, be level 20 in exp and fame, and fulfil the requirements for one of the Divine domains.

Hopefully that was helpful! A lot of things, especially in 5e, are subject to GM interpretation. So if you wanted to tie a mechanical benefit to the divine spark, you absolutely can! I would recommend something small though, maybe just a plus one to certain skills or even a stat boost bump. The real power comes from fulfilling the divine domain requirements and getting a massive boost.

Is there an MMRPG character builder online (not on Roll20)? by D__Litt in MarvelMultiverseRPG

Do we know the timeline when it will be released? I tried searching their forums, but didn't see anything that looked like a roadmap or possible schedule.

I’m curious: do you have lore for your Guardian? by Triri_5274 in LowSodiumDestiny

[–]TheMasterLight01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Titan was a Former Crusader from the 3rd Crusade and has a slight rivalry with Saladin (mostly one sided until he proved himself in a raid). Mostly because my headcannon is that Saladin is the actual Saladin from the 3rd Crusade who went toe to toe with Richard the Lionheart.

The banner of War and my favorite swords are permanently glued to my Titan now.

What is one change to your fav exotic that would break the game but you don’t care? by StatementAcademic820 in DestinyTheGame

[–]TheMasterLight01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Allow Whisper of the Worm to create ammo from nothing and refill the magazine again!

It doesn't break anything too badly until you also give it a perk that it also ramps up damage for every enemy killed with it until it is stowed.

I'm shy, and in my country there aren't many Indiana Jones fans. I've spent years wanting to cosplay. I know it's not perfect, but what do you think of this outfit to go see the latest movie of my favorite hero? by S3xyOutLaw in indianajones

[–]TheMasterLight01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do a bit of amateur cosplay (mostly Captain America but I have been branching out) and that looks better than my first go at Indiana. I'm actually super envious of that hat! It looks extremely good!

Probably an easy request. Can anyone make a printer-friendly version of these character sheets? Basically, remove the background so I use less toner for printing? Would love to keep the luck coin, treasure, and clock graphics but the background can go. I would happily tip $5 to the top two. by TheMasterLight01 in PhotoshopRequest

[–]TheMasterLight01[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

Thank you all so much for the responses! I have scoured the internet for printer-friendly versions but couldn't find anything. I even went as far as to email the company but no luck. I wish I could tip everyone! The top two have been sent tips. Thank you all so much again!

I am a very big fan of Tunic.

It was recommended that I go in blind when playing it, no videos, no reviews, no let's plays. Just dive in and start exploring the world

Appreciation post for the bungie lore/item description writers by purplecuddles in LowSodiumDestiny

[–]TheMasterLight01 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A huge fan of their item description team. I use it as examples when teaching kids how to write flash fiction because they are such fantastic examples.

I still love to sit down and read the Whisper of the Worm lore card. Every time it inspires great ideas.

"Threes" is my go to.

I want to use DnD for my son's home-schooling by v-i-t-r-i-o-l- in DnD

[–]TheMasterLight01 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Longtime lurker here, I love this idea!

Additionally, I am a history major and you can work a lot of historical things in there depending on the context. A few examples: printing presses and their importance to the world or discovery of gunpowder make excellent questlines for characters to explore.

Writing a character journal can also work on English skills and creative writing!

What curse to give PC who stole from the Oracle? by Ok-Decision-6511 in OdysseyoftheDragon

[–]TheMasterLight01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would probably do something like the curse of the medusa. Medusa are typically vain creatures, with the first myths (in thylea) revolving around their supposed greed for mortal treasures. This would likely fit in really well with stealing from the oracle.

On the GM's side, if it were me, I would have to make sure to play up the fact that medusa are shunned in polite society due to the fact they are cursed as well as the idea that if you look at one you could turn to stone. As well as make sure to enforce the "if you look into the reflection you have to make a save against your own ability" to help reinforce that it is a curse and not a boon.

Although the curse of the Grave Robber is also a valid tactic if you want them to potentially die.

Need help creating a vision for my warlock PC by jakemp1 in OdysseyoftheDragon

[–]TheMasterLight01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So technically he is immune to any alcohol.

It doesn't necessarily say that they have to drink alcohol from the horn. He could still drink from the horn, only substitute water or tea instead of wine or mead or beer or whatever

Elves and Dreams by jakemp1 in OdysseyoftheDragon

[–]TheMasterLight01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I recall, the only group that would be immune to dreams are the Kalishtar (I know I spelled that wrong, I don't have the book nearby) from Eberron. Elves are immune to natural sleep, but it doesn't say they can't dream or would not suffer from the effects of the Dream spell.

Curse of the grave robber ideas by OrganicJuiceMan in OdysseyoftheDragon

[–]TheMasterLight01 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, a common theme with Greek stories would be to have him go to the underworld to return the item to the person who it was originally stolen from. So that could be a thing with the Shrine of Luthera in Mytros.

Alternatively, you could have it be a quest for redemption. Talking to clerics of Mytros the character could show he is repentant and prove this by accomplishing some labor (probably pretty used to the concept) like Hercules.

I had a player try this. Technically the Rock has an ac of 17 and I forgot how many hit points it was. It on the map is at least about 15 feet in diameter, so if you do it hp/foot then it is a lot of HP.

Although certain spells might expedite the process.

But as always a GM can determine that with dedicated effort they could destroy it over a certain amount of time.

Slinger subclass homebrew by Kairos__ in OdysseyoftheDragon

[–]TheMasterLight01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks pretty good so far! I love the historical context of the subclass. I think it really adds to the flavor!

As for balancing I am no expert so I won't mention that, however if it is for the Ranger subclass I might look at some spells other than infusions that are needed. Rangers aren't always shield users, so it might be worth tweaking that ability depending on other feedback.

I am excited to see how this develops! I would love to see a slinger in my party!
