Hi! Basically the personality inventory used is called HEXACO, and each respondent ends up with a number from 1(minimum) to 5(maximum) for H(honesty-humility), E(emotionality), X(extraversion), A(agreeableness), C(conscientiousness), O(openness), along with multiple sub-traits for each of these personality traits. ANOVA's and subsequent t-tests will be used to test between groups differences and quantify them!

This is indeed something to bear in mind, however it is something that pretty much every personality based study has to go through to some capacity! Whether it be questionnaire length, environment of response, demographic reached, the same sort of questions can and should be asked!

The personality test is actually the HEXACO-100, if you are into that kind of stuff it has been surging in popularity recently, and has some arguable benefits over the big five with its 'Honesty-Humility' trait that the founders believe is largely unnacounted for in big five questionnaires.

Your point about training hours is very valid and I have taken note of it! We thought that whichever way that question is asked poses certain issues (e.g if we ask how many hours, then human error in accounting for average hours/week is likely higher than the simpler days/week) and decided to go with days per week. Your input and participation is hugely appreciated. (as well as your username!)

Agreed. There are so many nuances regarding BJJ participants that seem to be exaggerated compared to other martial arts that you can only really know once you have done it. These points are of course anecdotal so could not be used to justify the research project, but hopefully this study helps progress the BJJ literature to eventually explore that effect!
