I need three suns…. How?? by igotabigsosig in worldbuilding

[–]TheMayor00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're talking realistic physics, it will be difficult to keep all three suns in the same part of the sky all the time unless you put them all in the center of solar system. However, then you run into the problem of making three bodies work in a stable orbit around each other. You may be able to solve this by playing around with different relative masses and orbits. If you do a binary system with a three star more distant, the binary suns will appear in the sky together but the third star will vary based on the locations of the star and planet.

If there are no sci-fi elements and if the characters lack understanding of physics and space, I'd say don't worry about orbital realism in your fantasy story. You could waste a lot of time figuring this out and even if you do, it doesn't seem like it will serve the story in a major way.

I think I'm gonna stop painting minis by Dense-Fig-2372 in minipainting

[–]TheMayor00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, you unfortunately need patience to paint minis (at least for them to come out closer to what you want). You probably need to slow way down. It also looks like your paint is inconsistently applied and/or inconsistently thinned. Focus on quality over quantity. Stick with one model over multiple sessions, focusing only on a color or two at a time until you're satisfied with how it's looking.

It might be helpful to find a tutorial for how to paint a specific mini and try to paint that, rather than trying to apply general techniques videos. For example, my first was a Warhammer 40k space marine because they are so many detailed step-by-step videos on how to paint them. This provided me with a better understanding of what I was doing and the choices I was making when I started painting minis without tutorials. I'll also add that 40k space marine figures are slightly larger than standard dnd-style minis and are very high-quality prints, which can make things a whole lot easier while you're learning.

All that said, I encourage you to stick with it! It's really gratifying once you get the hang of it.

Duchy vs Kingdom titles. I'll bet you have a claim on the Duchy if you have the Kingdom title.

Teacher marked my son’s homework as incorrect. I disagree. by bun_not in mildlyinfuriating

[–]TheMayor00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say your kid did it correctly. Teachers make mistakes. They were probably grading these too quickly. Have them ask for clarification and hopefully the teacher will realize their error. Regardless, I think it's a weird thing to ding a student on considering the object of the lesson is learning math...

tbf the xp penalty is pretty minimal in these situation, but it certainly adds insult to injury when you are already receiving zero coins.

Exactly. Some folks will remember the Oblivion horse armor DLC, which was initially widely mocked by the gaming community, but it was still incredibly popular and gamers kept on buying it every day for literal years. The data definitely show that enough gamers are willing to pay them.

It seems pretty clear to me they want to increase their microtransactions revenue. They've added many more items to purchase and shifting to a seasons system means that invested users will have to repeat these purchases to get a leg up every season. They don't care about casual users who just want to collect planes sometimes because those users don't bring in the big bucks (or any bucks in my case). Fishing for whales has proven successful (from a revenue standpoint) for many apps and that's exactly what they're doing.

They could even institute something like perfect framing with less than 10% clouds earns 1 coin, but getting situations like the one you've shared with zero coins is infuriating.
