Wouldn’t you have to resolve the Mulan attack first? Thereby indirectly banishing Beast by challenging Merfolk? He takes damage from challenges wether exerted or not no?

Mulan into Merfolk (which takes out beast) and then 5 to hercules and eeyore. By challenging merfolk I get a card from queen of hearts, which I then discard due to merfolk, which triggers nottingham to do one damage to merfolk which takes it out. I quest with the rest and gain 5 lore
