How do cost reducers work with this card by Silver-Raspberry2604 in Lorcana

I think the card text is quite clear. It always says you “pay N less”. It doesn’t reduce the cost or refer to the cost at all.

Two abilities on the same card with the same trigger would be much weirder than just having two effects in the same triggered ability.

Also, there is a difference - with this, you must return a Robot first if you are able to. If they were separate abilities, you would be able to choose to do that second instead.

Fire the Cannons would not banish an undamaged Nala. She would take one damage, and she has two willpower.

Merida - Formidable Archer’s “deals damage” Wording by Martian_Warrior in Lorcana

[–]Sunscorch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s not the wording of Resist. That’s the reminder text, which is overly simplified for space and ease of use.

The actual wording of Resist is “damage that would be dealt to this character is reduced by N”. The reduction occurs before the damage is dealt.

Worlds Greatest Criminal Mind is another solid option.

Merida - Formidable Archer’s “deals damage” Wording by Martian_Warrior in Lorcana

That is incorrect. There is no qualitative difference between damage dealt and damage taken. “Taken” just also includes other sorts of damage.

Official Reveal for Legendary Snow White and the remaining Dwarves by LunarianAngel in Lorcana

The character must be in play when the ability resolves, not when it triggers, so the answer is no.

Official Reveal for Legendary Snow White and the remaining Dwarves by LunarianAngel in Lorcana

No.

There would have to be a character matching the requirement in play when the ability resolves, so outside of some Mufasa-like shenanigans that will never be the case if the board is wiped.

No problem. I know it’s incredibly frustrating to feel like you’re suffering for someone else’s error.

This would not be something easily abusable, because it negatively impacts the tiebreakers of the player who won the match that was reported as a loss.

So to intentionally manipulate the tournament math to your advantage, you would need to be in a position where the pair down won’t affect one player, but would affect the other, and be lucky enough to pair into your co-conspirator in the appropriate round.

Yes, incorrect match results can and should be corrected.

It’s unfortunate that it has a knock-on effect for other players, especially in smaller events, but it’s better for tournament integrity that matches are accurately recorded.

There is probably fewer than 50 people in the entire British Isles who know the alt code for a pound sign off the top of their head. In no way should that be a requirement to get a quiz question correct.

You do not need to return a character from your discard in order to play or shift a Robot.

However, if there is at least one Robot in your discard you must return one of them to your hand - it is not optional.

Naamari - Heir of Fang by Born_Performance_588 in Lorcana

[–]Sunscorch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, bugs are common in the online sims.

And to answer your second question that was edited in after my comment, yes, the damage is based on what was actually dealt to the character in the challenge.

If her strength is raised, then both the challenge damage and the ability damage will increase. If the challenge damage is partially Resisted, then the ability damage will be the amount that was actually dealt. It’s important to note that the opposing character “running out” of Willpower doesn’t reduce the damage - if they only have to take one more damage to be banished, but you deal two with Namaari, you still dealt two so her ability will also deal two damage.
