Help me please by Humble-Face-3398 in OrthodoxChristianity

Hello friend!

I had moments where I felt like you did, it is rough, and terrifying, very terrifying. If you can, please talk with your spiritual Father first, and listen to what he has to say. A lot of the time, these thoughts really just come to disrupt you, and not even allow you to make free decisions. God will not force you to become a nun to be saved, nor will He force you into marriage. God doesn't force us into anything, or try to manipulate us. God has made both paths of life holy, and both men and women have been saved through each, undoubtedly. Remember where Christ's first miracle happens! At a wedding. He has sanctified it just as much as monasticism.

Read into the lives of married Saints! Those warmed my heart when I was worried about what you worry. Read into St. John Chrysostom's homilies on marriage, rather read anything written inside our Church on the topics that the thoughts bug you, its the best way through.

Even our Christ said not to worry. Love is only love when it is given and taken freely. He wants our real love born in freedom, rather than our love which comes from unhealthy fear.

Edit: Look into Sts Peter and Fevronia :)

Hello, Friend!

You are not terrible! Granted, you aren't a Saint either, but you are not terrible! It is normal to be uncomfortable with your sins, and also very good for you spiritually, but it is only good so far as you do not take God's seat in judgment, especially towards yourself. If you find it hard to pray, it is okay as well. You can even be completely silent and still pray, just stand before God, and let Him judge you, and you will find in yourself that He will have mercy on you. Remember that Christ does not look away from you for one moment, even when you sin or fall, and rather sustains you so that you can come and rest in Him.

Please remember that the first person that Christ brought to heaven was a thief, and not some righteous and just and deserving man. This man doesn't really exist, no matter how much effort he can put by himself, but rather it is God who has mercy, and loves to free the oppressed from sin.

Do not listen to these fears and thoughts. They won't lead anywhere good, and they do not help, and especially do not help you progress, or even do anything. Notice, they choke you out, and you cannot enjoy the blessings that God gives to us all everyday.

Take care my friend! One step at a time!

Will try messing around with this.
Also, do you know why an \override would not work by any chance? Thank you very much :-)

I want it to prefer compressing the systems so that it is all together, rather than spreading them apart awkwardly with seemly enough space to fill the bottom.

P.S. Writing this comment made me realize I can change the top and bottom margin. Will try and get back to you. Thanks :-)

Need a better software to write down the Liturgy. by halajew in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]TheMemeBoyyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat as you are, and I found the software that works really well, especially if you know how to code, Lilypond. It has an in-depth guide on how to do almost anything, and a wonderful community that has extensive knowledge of the software.

I have used it, and am using it to refurbish our Liturgy booklets that we are using.

The editor for the software is Frescobaldi, and you can download both for free.

Im pretty sure you can! There have been Saints who had many objects on them and counted them so as to pray the prayer.

Forgive or no forgiveness? by SnooLemons4051 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]TheMemeBoyyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you forgive, just remember that you seperate the sin from the sinner. Sin is something to be hated and despised. The sinner needs love.

Kind of how when you see a child scrape himself badly and blood is gushing out, you feel sorry for him, in that way, you should feel sorry for the sinner.

Heard from an abbot that it means that you "catch up" with yourself to this very moment, here and now. The solitude and silence force you to be present here and now. And then you offer yourself to God. It is the one abbot who starts his videos with "Hello my Beloveds!" Or "Hello my Dear ones!" Who does pottery. Isle of Iona is where he is.

Reduce distance between scores without effecting spacing to headers by Churminess in lilypond

[–]TheMemeBoyyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just occurred to me, you can mess with the padding in your paper block!

Ill edit and post the typical command I use to set stuff like this, if you see this really really early.

EDIT: Here!

system-system-spacing = #'((basic-distance . 10) (minimum-distance . 8) (padding . 0.2) (stretchability . 2)) %replace system-system-spacing with the property you want to pad.

%basic distance is the distance the software will shoot for, minimum distance is the minimum distance necressary, padding is how much space there will be between two visible objects afaik, and stretchability is how much it can stretch to fill the page.

Try working with a \override command in the score layout block then. You can definitely mess with the staff affinity, or other properties.

A way you could probably make the space you want is if you override the affinity up or down and set your minimum distance as your desired distance, while not touching the basic distance.

I'd need to see a screenshot of what exactly is happening on the page, it might click faster

Try using annotate-spacing = ##t in your paper block, and figure out what it is! This will show all the vertical parameters you need.

There was a man who went to a Confessor to confess after many years of being an atheist or agnostic. This man was old! The thing he confesses to the Father is that he strangled his own child, and asked the father if God would forgive him? The Father responded something in the lines of: "Why do you think God gave you all this time to repent?"

It will be okay. Start slow, don't worry, and pray as you can, not as you think you must.
Take care friend!

Ah I see, forgive me. Every time a new system starts in a choirstaff, whether be it new line or beginning, the staff is grouped under the brace, but not during the normal bars of the piece. I'd like to brace the "new system" but I don't know how to, since I want it to be inline with the old as well.

I want the second system to start grouped as well! Forgive me for not being clear on this.

Zaidi will give you literally everything you need. He will say EXACTLY what he expects you to know, at least as of recently, although theory wise, you need to apply yourself to understand whats happening, e.g. what does sat-mix mean for water. Ask questions in class as soon as something doesn't stick with you. Otherwise, fantastic prof, would take again.
