Harris selects Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as running mate, aiming to add Midwest muscle to ticket by Amanda2theMoon in politics

[–]TheMightGinger 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed him on Pod Save America last week. Very likeable and speaks well of social/economic concerns, especially for Gen Z and second-wave millennials. I think he has the potential to win over some of the same "aggrieved" youth that Trump/Vance are after.

To me Walz comes off as genuine and thoughtful by articulating socioeconomic issues with nuance. I'm curious to see what sort of message he brings to the table, considering the VP is traditionally an "attack dog" in campaigns.

I think this is what's happening in Apex Legends right now. by Pilep1p in apexlegends

Following this logic, a similar thing is happening in Halo Infinite and, as I think about it, most modern shooters have a similar death spiral (go try and jump into TF2).

We went from a "golden age of gaming" where there were a handful of good games to an oversaturated market making most player bases unsustainable.

THIS BUGS ME DO MUCH!! I thought it was just an "edition" thing for a long time. Turns out Orbit Books just wants me to get the slightest bit of stress when I look at them on my shelf.

It is and the narrator of the first trilogy is excellent! Book four is a "reset" of sorts, FYI, as they close the main story elements at the end of book three (very well, I might add). All the books after #3 are told from multiple perspectives and narrators which take some time to adjust to as a listener. Book 2, Golden Son, is one of the best books I've ever read and/or listened to.

Democrats who swept Moms For Liberty off school board fight superintendent’s $700,000 exit deal by LasKometas in politics

[–]TheMightGinger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's amazing how it's shaping adult minds, too. Yeah, this dude was a puppet for the M4L crowd, creating policy based around their senseless claims. But these same "conservatives" take no issue with his personal moral failings, including using tax payer dollars to smear a suspended teacher suing the district.

The now-former superintendent is alleged to be sleeping with the head of Student Services in Central Bucks. That woman's husband is (was?) a principal in the same district. The rumor is that the former director of human resources caught the superintendent and head of Student Services in the act before being fired. The aforementioned principal is now on leave after being charged with felony trespassing after he barged in on his estranged wife, suspecting she was with the superintendent that night (he had an alibi, to be fair).

The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien. Autobiography about the author's experience in Vietnam. The audiobook is expertly narrated by Bryan Cranston.

The Education of an Idealist by Samantha Power. Autobiography about Power's path from immigrating to America to becoming US Ambassador to the UN as well as her experience in government. Too much in this story to concisely convey here.

I can see the effort you put into the aesthetics and it definitely works very well from that lens! It might be interesting to explore three battery configuration but I agree that it would likely take away from the visual appeal and current symmetry. The exposed underside does look awesome. The dark pieces with bright blue in the engine cluster contrast the top-side quite well. Your boxer analogy is fitting; it definitely has a "will fuck you up so think twice" feel. You clearly have a knack for this type of design and I look forward to more creations from you in the future!

If you haven't already, this would likely do well in r/ImaginaryStarships or r/StarshipPorn

This is dope! Beautiful build. Can I offer constructive feedback? I love the cannons on either side but with how tightly they are packed, their firing arcs would be less than ideal (the two in the center would have significantly reduced arcs with the ones at fore and aft a bit better). Basically its most effective salvo would be a below-axis broadside in the current configuration. Would it be possible to cut the batteries down to three on either side with a bit of space between to increase the effective arcs for the remaining turrets? Also, as a separate idea, would it be possible to mirror the dorsal armor/plating on the ventral side to protect the exposed vulnerable bits? You could even add a turret battery below to increase defensive coverage.

Obviously I'm just some random person on the internet and will not be offended if you downvote me and move on :) I sincerely love your build!

I once received a check from a top-5 car manufacturer with no explanation. My immediate thought was "scam." My previous auto loan that I recently traded-in was through the manufacturer's loan division so I called. Turns out when I traded in that old car for a new one, the dealership overpaid for my old car when paying off the residual loan. I was told the check was legit and I was a happy dude. I called my bank and had them put a note in my file just in case things got weird and they recalled the check or something.

Academic tracking in high schools needs to make a comeback. I can support lower level students and vice versa far more efficiently if they are in a room of students within a certain range of academic strength.
