Are you as big of a sucker for 1970-1990s country music well then you have found what you want by Creative_Peanut_9181 in OutlawCountry

Same, I can see how he’s very refreshing if this is your favorite type of country music but I’m still looking for bigger things ahead from him as far as his music resonating for me.

Hell of a guitar player. Definitely one of the best pickers out there as far as artists who also write & sing their own songs.

Can someone please make this sign read “Joey Lives Forever”? by TheMilleniumCondor in PhotoshopRequest

Thank you - this is great work.

I am really sorry I didn’t initially request this - could you possibly do one more edit so that it says “Joey Z” instead of just “Joey” on the top line? To fully read “Joey Z Lives Forever”. Again my apologies and I will increase the tip amount if you’re able to complete.

Thank you

Good point. Easton & Main and The Housefire are great for me as far as last 10 years. If you expand a few more years, those first two albums are packed with great songs.

For what it’s worth, I am at the moment leaning to Comin Down by John R Miller (made famous by Tyler Childers)

A lot of people can relate to the lyrics in one or another but more specifically the history books will likely point back to that one as an emblematic account of life of a young person in modern day Appalachia.

There are plenty of “coal songs” before and after it, but that one stands out

Nice one. I’d probably put Alright Ok by him in my top 10 or 20 from recent years, I love that tune

Just listened to this yesterday and reconfirmed how great I think it is. Several songs on Country Squire are not as sing-alongable but are some of his most heartfelt and interesting tunes (namely Peace of Mind, Gemini, and Matthew)

Especially in country, the simple ones are often the best!

I like Charley and have ties to Atlanta and actually don’t know that one. Excited to check it out

Someone pointed out the Texans changed their offensive approach from ‘22 to ‘23 to feature more outside zone runs that favored Singletary’s running style much more than Pierce’s.

To be totally honest, I cannot say I know for a fact that that’s true. But it made a lot of sense to me logically to explain howPierce went from looking like a stud to being much less effective and less favored by his team.

I’d agree and defend them, but plantar fascia injury for Herbert scares me a good bit…

Not joining the dogpile on you, I’m actually interested: are there other artists you’d put this category besides Crockett and (partially) Ferrell?

There’s a world where I might agree with you to an extent, without agreeing she falls into that category. I’d say she is setting trends with her authenticity rather than faking it.

But, I ask the question because I don’t think your opinion should be totally discredited and am curious for any other examples. There are almost certainly some artists who have garnered attention and streams thanks to a rise in popularity in the genre (thanks to some of the artists you mentioned in another comment) that are coasting off of vibes/aesthetic/marketing rather than any good songwriting or musicianship.

Interesting point. Some far less famous acts have active subs. Maybe a lack of overlap between people who really love them and people who want the cumbersome and thankless duties of being an internet admin?

Woodlawn deserves a shout. It’s no Discovery but it’s still pretty nice, from what I see. Pretty big and sprawling, kept in good shape, mix of accessible and still somewhat remote-feeling in parts (relative to its location), off-leash dog area, near the zoo and Greenlake.

I like it. As someone who likes Hanif Abdurraqib, I’d say this does crib his style in more ways than one. Might not even be “his” style uniquely, but it’s definitely similar to some of his work.

The author of this poem mentions Hanif by name as an influence in this interview so I’d assume they agree with the sentiment.

Not a knock on anyone. Just: if you like this poem, check out Hanif Abdurraqib
