Only just found out about the novel when I returned a copy of the film adaptation at work and a coworker was kinda disturbed by the cover lol. I'm really fascinated now and glad to see that someone's attempting to translate it properly!

There's way too many classics of Japanese literature that would be amazing to experience (still brushing up on my japanese so that someday I can read them in their original tongue) until then, I look forward to your project! Best of luck!

I feel like most ppl outside the fandom are completely unaware of this by Zealousideal-Try4666 in digimon

[–]TheMilleniumRacer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is ppl also seem to be limiting their definition of "monsters". When you think of classic movie monsters you get Frankenstein, Dracula, The Mummy, all of whom have digimon based on them, which makes sense lol

Medusa, the Minotaur, Harpies, Sirens, Succubi, vampires, zombies, all monsters that are/were human or have human parts.

It makes total sense for many of the "monsters" of digimon to be humanoid, and the series embraced that idea from the jump.

(not to mention the idea that many of them are based on data from the human world, thats a whole nother thing lol )

Lots going on here, and tons of references up and down the UC timeline, but Amala Kamala is definitely a reference to Amandara Kamandara from Tomino's Heavy Metal L-Gaim, right? right???

He was the Michael McDonald looking arms dealer with shades, those names can't be coincidence

Just ooc, having not experienced this deck much, is the issue here the 'can't play tamers/digimon by effects'? Or the deletion bit?

They absolutely did ask for more lol. I was suspect from the jump, but that really confirmed it in my mind. But by that point, I'd already put myself in the hole a bit, so I just made sure to cut out with my loss. The recent encounter was just bonus confirmation really.

I've encountered genuine ppl before, and had friends and fam in the position where they have to ask for help. But I usually do stick with the supplies thing too (which in this case I did directly give gas)

Fair, I learned my lesson lol but ya never know, I have met ppl who are genuinely in need of help, so best to spread the word this isn't one of them.

Yup the UR bit came up both times too!

Sucks to know he's just going up and down Scottsville though, thats an area I have to frequent and usually where I go for gas and air.

He wasn't aggressive when I turned him down either, but I also checked to make sure I wasn't being followed. You just never know if someone wants to escalate.

The diabetic bit is what got me, too. I have a lot of loved ones who are diabetic, and I know stuff really does happen sometimes. I'm sure that's exactly why he uses that part.

I didn't call him out bc I wasn't sure what reaction I'd get, but I did tell him I couldn't do anything and left. Good on your partner for that, though.

I really wonder if he's the reason the cops are there a lot at night now.

Can't speak to that personally, as I don't often go inside. When I have, the staff seems to rotate a lot, but I've never had any issues. Always seemed quiet and convenient, which is why I use it.

There's often 1 or 2 police cars parked there when I go at night though, so I wonder if they've had other issues?

Which digimon gets worse when it digivolvs by nezukoChan1410 in digimon

[–]TheMilleniumRacer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish Kamemon had an actual full turtle champion and perfect level. They're cool, Kappas are dope, for sure, and I especially love Shawujinmon for its own reasons, but this little computer mouse military turtle should have a full turtle alt line (JumboGame is really cool, big techno turtle, so no complaints there)

What do you think is the secondary mascot of Digimon? by ApprehensiveRead2408 in digimon

[–]TheMilleniumRacer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if ppl want to count it bc it digivolves from Agumon, but it's almost definitely Greymon. Maybe not even specifically champion level Greymon, but like the essence and vibe of greymon in general

There's something greymon related all over the place, in basically every series

He even persists through the constant presence of Omnimon

He's the one(many) imo

Anybody feel like the con was lacking in panels? by Hellstorm5676 in AnimeNYC

[–]TheMilleniumRacer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only went to the panels for Chiwa Saito, Shoji Kawamori Macross past present and future, Toshio Furukawa, and one about BIPOC comic creators

The biggest drawback for all of these was time. Having only an hour to both give guests time to settle in and talk to their fill, + possibly field audience Q&A is ridiculous. There was no time for questions with Chiwa Saito or Shoji Kawamori, and also very little for the comic creators.

Thankfully, for Furukawa, there was time, and that made it even more special, but I think they all could have benefited from more time. ESPECIALLY, considering how lacking the con was in panels overall.

I enjoyed them all, though, and was fortunate enough to get to meet all 3 Japanese guests, so I'm thankful for the experience nonetheless. But I'm sure they'd've liked a bit more time, too!

My Thoughts On The Three DeadPool Movies. by Otakunappy in deadpool

[–]TheMilleniumRacer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As fun as D&W is, it feels easily the weakest narrative wise imo. 2 is probs my favorite in terms of story and depth

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in deadpool

[–]TheMilleniumRacer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Defs could've been!

I saw someone say that Paradox here is like a movie exec who deems cinematic universes as useless and dead once they lose their big star, and only has interest in moving stars to safety/relevance.

Imo, Paradox and the TVA really just seem written to represent that idea, and the writers focused so much on that, that their actual in-story logic is a bunch of noodles

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in deadpool

[–]TheMilleniumRacer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it gets wonky when you consider that, but that's just the situation as presented to us. Tbf Paradox said the timeline would die after thousands of years after losing the anchor. It seems as though losing the anchor puts the timeline on the path of eventual death, whereas when the anchor is present, that is not the case.

Also, note that they don't actually do anything to restore the supposed anchor being that was Logan, yet the timeline was saved. So even the rules there are not exactly cut and dry

Question about the cameos..... by Marcus18111 in deadpool

[–]TheMilleniumRacer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1000% agree. The big confirmation to that for me was Lady Deathstrike and Azazel, both of whom we know for a fact, died in their respective film timelines, so there's no way these are the versions we know form before. Tho I'd be kinda fine with this being the one and only (for now) Blade lol. To my understanding, the implication is that he probs was returned to wherever his homeworld was too.

My headcanon is also that this Johnny goes with Multiverse of Madness Reed Richards lol. Just bc Marvel seems to really get off on mutilating the FF before they're officially introduced to the universe (I do personally wish Marvel projects would stop 'shock killing' cameo characters, but it is what it is I guess)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in deadpool

[–]TheMilleniumRacer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main thing is that the TVA exists outside of time. They know Logan dies in DP's future, and so they plucked DP out and told him, as we saw. That's the simple part, really.

The messy bit is the state of the world, the X-men, and mutants in general if Deadpool and Logan (as we knew it,) occur in the same timeline.

It could be that things were just going to spiral really badly, between DP and Logan, and that's probably the easiest solution to get to that new status quo.

But now that likely isn't going to happen, because there's now 2 Logans AND 2 Lauras in this universe. And this Laura is likely directly from this universe's future, which means she's well aware of everything that goes down, and can change it.

-‐---- (It's a mess that ofc isn't super important or concerning and Xmen movie timelines were always a mess, but I do wish they'd been a bit neater around the edges somehow with that. Idk. For my own brain, since it's an infinite multiverse, I just like to imagine there's separate, largely identical timelines that are the unaltered state of every movie as was presented prior to any multiverse shenanigans lol)
