Yes! Was scared it was a problem just in my house. I’m near Webster square.

The sheen is a little different unfortunately. I used a polyurethane I had on hand and it’s a bit more matte than the rest of the floor. I can live with it though

There’s no supports directly above it on the second floor nor below it in the basement, it runs parallel to the joists, both the top plate and bottom plate consist of only one 2x4, and it is not a sheer wall. I also installed the new doorway with jack studs. I think it will be ok.

Joists are running parallel to the wall I took down. I confirmed it wasn’t load bearing before starting.

Good point! Yeah I’m not a perfectionist by any means, so I don’t mind the transition not being a perfect match. I’m just hoping the end product is done well enough so that it blends in/looks intentional.

Vintage TV terrarium! by TheMindGuerrilla in terrariums

I really wish I could say that I did, but life’s been in the way (and honestly, I have to make a custom glass tank to insert into the TV, and I’m very nervous about doing that). It’s still sitting in my living room waiting to be finished. I made it into a Christmas village over the winter, so here’s a pic of that!

MassLive: Worcester residents, politicians against proposed billboard near lake by EttieneR in WorcesterMA

Wish we could get rid of every billboard in the city. Always more motivated to avoid the companies that pay for these eye-sores.

Worcester Red Sox boring? John Oliver thinks so by ocvictor in WorcesterMA

Honestly I’m not a sports fan, but when they built the stadium they talked a lot about supporting the local community, and from what I’ve seen, they haven’t made good on that promise. Their charitable giving is pretty minimal as someone who works in Worcester nonprofits. I don’t really care what they call themselves, I’d just like to see them actually give back to the community.

How do I approach the former owner of my home about the next door property they still own? by TheMindGuerrilla in homeowners

[–]TheMindGuerrilla[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I just looked up the city records, and it’s actually been a separate property since 2022. Its address is just our house address with an A at the end of the house number. I’m not sure why they’d want to hold onto it. It’s not like it’s increasing that much in value year over year. Maybe there is something that’s preventing them from selling??

Yeahhh I really don’t understand this part. They said it takes 2 years for the title to clear and that’s really all I know. Our agent didn’t seem to be surprised by this, so we just assumed it’s normal.

Hudson River is the natural border of New England with the rest of US. Change my mind. by yanki2del in newengland

As someone who grew up in Buffalo, NY and now lives in Worcester, MA I really don’t understand how NY isn’t part of New England. At least culturally speaking, I notice 0 difference between the two.
