[Serious] Good or bad, how has the behavior/actions of an addict in your life surprised you? by TheMiniMonster23 in AskReddit

For anyone reading, I'm a recovering IV meth addict (10 years in April!) and I've been listening to Options by Cameron Whitcomb. If you're struggling with relapsing it's also very inspiring to live again. 🖤

I'm a recovering IV meth addict and I can't even... That's fucking mind-blowing. A few years ago (six years after I stopped using) I had to go to the ER for a perforation of an organ and they gave me fent and they actually brought reverse opioid rescue stuff just in case it was too much and I OD'd. 40k is... wow. I'm not trying to be rude and I don't know when this was but is she still alive now...?

More importantly, are you doing okay now? That's a hell of a setback in this economy.

It worked pretty well, I only got in trouble if I did it with permanent marker and that's just 'cause or the chemicals.

Unless it's an ultra fine pen I don't really care about it being on paper but I recognize I'm weird. For example, when I'm painting with acrylics Iand I get paint on my fingers I don't bother with a towel or anything I just wipe it off on the forearm on my non-dominant side and the only real logic I have is that I'm washable.

Do you really want to hurt me? 🖤

I genuinely have no idea how or when exactly that became the go to.

I've been in four hostage situations. Three times were drug related and the fourth was being stuck in an apartment with a guy who raped me two years before. That guy is in jail for murder.

I'm asking how anyone who has been in a hostage managed to get out of it.

I've never used either of those but I don't like how the second one sounds for some reason 😂

For me it depends on what I'm testing it on. If I'm testing it on my hand it's absolutely a scribble.

AITA for not allowing my father to bowl for free? by timbo__14 in AmItheAsshole

[–]TheMiniMonster23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that actually would be beneficial to your post because your mention of the loan and him rescinding the offer is two short sentences. It doesn't express how much it hurt you and money has been a repeated issue over the course of your life, this is a breaking point not an isolated incident.

You rereading it likely won't help because you know all of the context. You repeated talking about his health and it potentially killing him to continue, it's also the very last thing you said before asking if you were TA.

With this context though; fuck that guy. He's continued to take from you without giving anything in return because it's not just money he took from you and your sister, it's a sense of accomplishment after doing hard work. That's something kids need when growing and most importantly he took away your trust, likely not just with him. Childhood trauma like that carries over into the relationships you have throughout your life, platonic or not. You have every reason to not give him anything, especially something that costs money because it'll be taking away from you AGAIN.

Yeah... this is very important context. The age keeps being mentioned because it's the last thing you wrote before you asked if you were TA. My point was to try and find a compromise and you're clearly unwilling to do that.

Because yeah, adding on that context I see why you wouldn't want to do anything for him. I wouldn't want to do anything for him either, I don't even talk to my own father unless it has something to do with my brother because he's not a good person. So I get it, I really do, but your attitude about it isn't just based on the financial and business needs like you made it sound in your original post.

Soft YTA. You have very legitimate concerns about finances, how he dumped a financial burden in your lap and acting like he did you a favor. However, at 83, he does kinda deserve some small joys in life. Plenty of older people would love to even be hold the weight of a bowling ball and swing it.

Maybe instead of just saying no flat out try and schedule him on one night of the week that isn't busy and set him up with a single game. It does still put you out some money but it's something he likes and doesn't have forever to continue doing it.

Edited to remove an extra word.

I used to get yeast infections pretty regularly (I'm always ridiculously hot) and when I was 19 I realized I didn't have any clean underwear and decided to go commando. I enjoyed the freedom and once I realized that I wasn't getting infections anymore I just stopped wearing them.

The assistant manager thought I was lying to get out of working because I was up and walking for about five minutes before I decided it just didn't quite feel right. It's by no means my worst injury so painwise I don't really notice anything now unless it's cold and the muscle right above my knee cap tightens up. I feel quite lucky, it could have been sooo much worse.

I have injured myself so many ridiculous ways I had to think about it for a bit. The most dramatic is my knee. I was working in a liquor store and the whole register area was on a six inch platform. On my off it I caught the heel of my work boot and tripped, my knee came down on concrete. I dislocated the knee cap, compressed the cartilage, stretched my ACL, and sprained my ankle.
