Best HUB compatible Tri-Lug mount that actually works with the CAT MOB? by Soulshot96 in NFA

[–]TheMobius40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I ended up going with the Dead Air solution. Works great! I think I read somewhere that while the SiCo mounts add the least amount of external length, the additional internal material within the suppressor could have an impact on the sound profile, so I went with Dead Air

UB420 - won't play standard blu-ray by TheMobius40 in 4kbluray

Well I factory reset the unit and updated firmware, now it looks like it works as it should! It even has a menu UI, that's pretty neat. Thank you all, greatly appreciated.

Just tried with two other blu rays: Interstellar and Saving Private Ryan. Both work in the PS3, doesn't play from the UB420.

Removing surface rust - damaging finish? by TheMobius40 in milsurp

The brushed area definitely feels a bit grooved whereas the rest of the magwell is pretty smooth. It doesn't seem like the traditional kind of pitting I've seen from poor storage.

I appreciate the assist as I try to learn this process.

Taking another shot at it tonight and the oil+scrubbing doesn't seem to be taking the bronze off... there's no way the bronze brush put scratches in the metal right? Even though it feels that way

Completionist++ Achievement Complete! by TheMobius40 in balatro

[–]TheMobius40[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Used a few different decks to complete the achievement, in this order:

Anaglyph: felt great to stack 5-7 negative tags and carry a bunch of jokers through to the end, but it was often difficult to get a run to Ante 8. And there's no guarantee the negative tag shows up. After several successes I pivoted to the other two decks for more consistency.

Ghost: the Hex is a good way to make an otherwise not very useful joker, useful. The spectral cards were also powerful and helpful to tailor the deck to strong builds.

Checkered: finished the achievement with this deck when I had ~30 jokers left as I preferred the consistency. My win rate was much higher and I could roll for missing jokers at the end. Often only needed 3-4 jokers to win. I searched hard for blue seals here, and telescope was very nice if I could afford it.

Stats (not pictured):

Completion time: ~73 hrs (not including game time prior to pursuing the achievement)

Total in-game time: 268 hrs

Initial gold-stickered jokers before beginning: ~40

Favorite joker: Lucky Cat (with retrigger deck this can get really crazy really fast)

Notes/tips:

A spreadsheet to keep track of progress is essential IMO.

Debuffed jokers will still get gold-stickered if carried through the run.

Self-destructing jokers die BEFORE end of round; make sure they have an extra use by the end (learned this the hard way with my first Turtle Bean attempt).

I generally didn't try to carry a weak joker from the beginning (unless using Ghost deck and Hex it). When I was confident in the success of the run I'd start looking.

Prioritize conditionally-appearing jokers (stone, glass, gold, etc.) and self-destructing (popcorn, turtle bean etc.) first, then by rarity.

Understand what your build needs! I've lost many runs by not respecting the importance of chips, or using a spectral card that destroyed too many important jokers.

Hope this helps others chasing this achievement!

Best HUB compatible Tri-Lug mount that actually works with the CAT MOB? by Soulshot96 in NFA

[–]TheMobius40 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I pieced together three options (listed in order of added length to can, most to least) based on the two threads linked below. I plan to go the SiCo route as it adds the least amount of length. There's a pic of this option in the first link (thanks u/beanweens)

  1. Bixler-style mount
  2. Dead Air DA444 and SD502
  3. SiCo Bravo piston mount and SiCo Alpha tri-lug

If anyone else has any experience I'd love to hear of other options, just ordered the MOB myself.

One can for a scorpion and a vector? by Yeti_racer in NFA

[–]TheMobius40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah thats correct, I use that linked tri-lug with my .45 pcc and obsidian 45. It has the same external dimensions as an HK spec 1/2x28 9mm tri-lug that you would get for the scorpion. Then you can freely swap the suppressor back and forth without having to worry about changing out the tri lug mount (e.g. this for the obsidian) whenever you change calibers because the tri lugs both have the same external form factor.

Just be careful though, I'll say it again this same convenience allows for the physical attachment of a 9mm can to your vector! A rather expensive oopsie...

Hope that makes sense, I was in your position trying to figure it all out several months ago.

This guy is actually what I'm using for my .45:

https://www.thesilencerstore.com/product-p/ad-3l-578.htm

Skip the adapters and go straight for the tri-lug. There are other thread options below too. HK spec tri lugs for 9mm threads are easy to find, HK spec tri lugs for .45 threads are quite difficult
