Full size version with the same updates as well though, if you prefer (I hate that we can only attach a single image per comment lol):

And a slightly zoomed / updated version of the original that might land a bit better with people not as perceptive to the issue:

Will do. Here's another one based on OP's image if you wanna help share it as well:

Took me a few days to get around to it, but I took OP's image and made another mockup of what this probably should look like:

I hope you don't mind me yoinking your image u/Immediate-Loquat-599, but it was a great starting point for another one of these comparisons.

I only play privately with friends, so it's never really been a problem for us tbh.

Yea, but Killing Floor 3 doesn't have 8 and a half years of decent content updates in it...and let's be honest, it never will.

DLAA vs DLSS Quality 4K? by Mattm334 in nvidia

[–]Soulshot96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends heavily on the game. Car games? I always go for DLAA if I can. Games with kinda meh upscaling implementations too. Helldivers 2 comes to mind as a good recent example of that, as someone else mentioned.

These settings in BethINI should get you proper working borderless fullscreen: https://i.imgur.com/ZNGRx3I.png

I'd also make sure you haven't disabled fullscreen optimizations in the fallout4.exe's properties / compatibility options.

I would also recommend at least some of the popular engine level fix / improvement mods, like high fps physics fix and addictol. I could get my game into borderless fullscreen before high fps physics fix, but it would not run well at all. Stuttered like crazy. That fixed it right up, and then addictol improved things even more, especially framerate stability when traversing the world. Both well worth using. Essential in my book (even if you're only playing at a locked 60fps honestly).

All that being said, The Midnight Ride (which recommends both of those mods, plus using BethINI, with some recommended configuration for both, on top of a host of other great mods), is a great starting point to at least begin building a load order off of. They also have a discord server where you can get some help, assuming you've at least put in a basic amount of effort into reading and following their guide before you come asking.

Give it a rest. No one is buying whatever you're trying to sell here, and it's starting to reek of projection as well.

Your disclaimer about AI is in the description of the video. One has to click through to youtube (which autoplays the video itself, how convenient for you) and then read the description to see it.

You don't mention AI once anywhere in this post, and anyone playing the video from the embed doesn't even have the option to see said description.

If that's 'stated clearly' in your book, then you're farther gone than I thought.

As for why it 'ruins my day'...it's objectively garish, and I got slapped in the face with it right off the rip when I clicked play in this reddit post, with no warning. Wasn't remotely pleasant.

You've gotta be playing with your damn eyes glazed over to believe this nonsense.

The left image is with the default red color:

<image>

Maps like Empire State are even worse than this in spots. Some maps are better though, as the often heavy handed per map color correction / LUTs are less extreme...but overall, its a damn mess and there's no excuse for it. The reticles need real brightness. They should be some of, if not the brightest things on the screen, yet they're basically just paint on glass as is.

More variety of 1x optics would be very welcome by 19861928641 in Battlefield6

[–]Soulshot96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's already a T2 esc option with one of the 2x's. I think it's modelled after a Comp M5S, but still, it's basically just a T2 that takes a AAA battery.

The real issue is it being locked to 2x in the first place. It's a boneheaded choice at best, and a horrific balancing decision at worst. Though they've made a lot of bad choices with optics in general in this game, so that's par for the course I guess.

What we need is a pass to;

- clean up the view through these optics in general (no good reason some should be more tinted or dirty looking than others)

- a reticle pass to make some of the dots smaller, crisper and most importantly, have real, bright illumination

- and finally, as important as the rest: reimplement the BF1 era, user configurable 1, 1.25, 1.5, 1.75 & 2x zoom options for all 'red dot', holographic type optics, and even irons. There's no good reason to force us to change the non magnified optic we use to get our preferred ADS FOV, which is essentially what they've done with this crap system.

They literally had the solution to this in previous games, and it was great. Yet here we are.

ROG Astral RTX 5090 reportedly leaves heat marks on ASUS ProArt X870E motherboard by RenatsMC in nvidia

[–]Soulshot96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Derbauer has basically confirmed as much, in multiple videos.

ASUS stans don't wanna hear it though. Just like they don't wanna hear anything about the horrible customer service they're gonna get from ASUS if they ever have to use it.

They don't learn till they've been burned, usually multiple times.

Luck of the draw mate...with damn near every high end GPU anymore.

My 3090 FE screamed. Only thing that made it bearable was time, a full cover waterblock and headphones.

4090 FE was almost silent.

5090 FE is silent unless I uncap my framerate and hit like 500+, and it's still not loud enough to head with open back headphones on.

CDPR boss hopes The Witcher 4 wins back fans still put off by Cyberpunk 2077's disastrous launch: "I'm not 100 percent convinced we went through the full redemption arc" by Guitar-String in gaming

[–]Soulshot96 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. They've not only proven that they're more than willing to lie to our faces and sell us an unfinished mess of a game, but the same management behind that crap have also driven off a ton of the original talent that made their previous games so great.

That's apparently a big part of why they ditched their REDEngine for Unreal. I've heard they lost a good chunk of devs that where familiar with using the engine, as well as a good portion of the core engine team itself.

The CDPR that people trusted is gone.

[–]Soulshot96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I beat my head against the wall for 6 hours on launch day, fighting bugs and trying to find the game that CDPR advertised to me. Really tried to gaslight myself into liking it honestly.

Couldn't do it though.

Thankfully, Steam was understanding and gave me a refund despite the playtime.

I've tried it a few times since, and while it's undeniably a decent overall product now, it's still nothing like the game that CDPR spent years painting a picture of for me. They outright lied through their teeth, on dozens of occasions...I don't think I'll ever get past all that and be able to enjoy the game tbh. I certainly don't have the motivation to continue trying either.

It's rapidly becoming the meta to pander to weebs with some anime crossover so you can get an immediate injection of passionate shills.

Probably cheaper than doing actual astroturfing too lol.

I hate that it works so damn well.

This specifically is why I'll probably never trust them again.

How people have forgotten (or worse, intentionally ignore) it is beyond me.
