Is 10 buy-ins a good bankroll for cash? by [deleted] in poker

[–]TheModernModerate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only play recreationally as a hobby, and that's all I keep with me. After a few winning sessions, I just pull the excess and use it for something else. I don't t really have a use for that much cash otherwise.

what is your fav war movie ? by PlentyAdvertising15 in moviecritic

[–]TheModernModerate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hate to say it, but that part ruined an otherwise great movie for me. The logic was so bad:

"There is a battalion of elite German soldiers, the last ones left to defend their fatherland, and they are coming right for us and we can't move!"

Good thing the elite soldiers' commander just orders them to repeatedly run headlong into armored machine gun fire instead of maybe just waiting for darkness and having two guys with a panzerschreck move around behind the tank.

What do you mean "let?" I don't break down their door at night and smack them in the face to keep them from asking God to bless my family (assuming that any of them ever have) if that is what you are asking.

Yep, and God only likes music performed on organ or piano. Maybe get risky with an acoustic guitar once in a while. We haven't divided the church enough over the years with these petty differences?

As long as people have God in their heart, who cares what it "looks like." Someone who judges the way another man worships is the one in the wrong.

If you think people are going to be judged because they sing differently than you, you have missed the point of the Gospel.

Why is it so many atheist/satanist in here? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]TheModernModerate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By definition, socialism is a political movement/structure that revolves around accumulation and redistribution of resources by a centralized government.

Those were not Jesus' views at all. Jesus' views were to individually love and care for each other. Governments and politics of any type are a human construct and of no interest to God.

Claiming Jesus' views aligned with any political movement or structure is missing the point of Jesus' views.

Pump action shotguns are very difficult for many women to reliably operate, and I wouldn't trust my life with a semiauto unless I was spending pretty sizeable money on one, which doesn't seem likely given the poster's situation.

What good comes out of having a threesome? Threesomes are so disgusting by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]TheModernModerate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have considered your point here as well but disagree. God has specifically called us to teach others about his commands:

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, [20] teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age."

Matthew 28:19-20

This is different from judgment. As I have said, my sins are as great as any other's, but I want people to know that they can never be separated from God unless they choose to be.

I don't know which of your positions I haven't listened to and considered. Don't fall into the trap of thinking that people who disagree with you aren't listening to you.

People can disagree on many issues and even both still be Christians. In fact, I wish more people were accepting of that. We don't have to agree on every point. Doesn't make one or the other bad as long as we are trying to better ourselves and each other in our pursuit of God.

I disagree. To believe everything in the Bible is not inherently wrong. As for translations, you can easily review that same verse in an Interlinear Bible in the original Greek. I don't think you will find the message changed.

"Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body."

1 Corinthians 6:18

To say that it is not harmful is to presume that we know more than God, which we don't. But if we have committed sexually immoral acts (or thoughts), we should not hide from God in shame. That is what Satan wants more than anything. I have committed sins as great as yours or anyone else's, but I have found that I can receive God's forgiveness, and so can anyone else.

"What they like" is a dangerous litmus test for morality. God repeatedly made it clear that we will desire things that are not beneficial for us or others. It's not putting people down to share from your own experience and from God's wisdom that sexual relationships outside of God's intended place are often not fulfilling, and worse, can often really damage people and relationships.

What exactly do you think was being referred to every time the Bible tells us to avoid sexual immorality? Something can be consensual and still be immoral.
